I Went to EDEN CAMP WW2 Museum in North Yorkshire 

Those great heroes died in vain. Now we can't even defend ourselves against a small boat.

Eden camp is a terrific visit for anyone. Highly recommend it. Interesting fact. The road into Whitby across North York moors was laid by the prisoners interned in the camp. The submarine display gives many kid nightmares. The first time you think of being trapped in a tin can under the water which is taking on water and you know it cannot be stopped. We send men to do that. God rest them.

Best museum that I've been to is Beamish open air museum in county Durham. Got to ride on the old back loading double deckers and old Sheffield tram again. Will go back when the 1950s town is fully built. It was interesting to visit Norman Wisdom's house and see some of his art work.

Eden camp is brilliant. We used to holiday near Pickering. Took the children when small , they loved it. All the smells & nioses. The worst one fro me was the submarine! That must be the worst way to pass away. Anyone who has never been go if you're near.

I was in Bridlington last Wednesday, walking along the cliffs photographing birds and nature, bempton cliffs was really good too.

£16 for the POW camp or £12 for twenty minutes on a plastic leg powered boat on a boating lake in Skegness, kind of puts the world into perspective doesn't it.. Another great video James really enjoyed it and will definitily be visiting Eden camp and Malton. I would have liked you to have gone into a deli in Malton and using an American accent asked them for one of their famous Pork Pies, then refusing to believe them when they told you you had gone to the wrong town lol.

James, I would highly recommend taking the hovercraft over from Southsea to ryde and spending the day on the Isle of Wight The buses over there are really good . Would recommend the chairlift at Alum Bay and the seafront walk between Shanklin and Sandown.None of it too expensive

I went to Sandhill Primary in Great Houghton, and I remember in year 5 going to Eden Camp. Looks like they’ve done it out since then. Great video

It's an amazing place, although out of me, the wife and two kids, i was the only one who enjoyed it. And with there being alot to read when its busy it can get very congested. With a family of 4 it's quite pricey, especially if you dont take your own lunch 😅.

Get down to Costa del Sol use trains along the coast plenty to film up in the hills in to mijas has well

Ludlow also used to have a WWII POW camp too. For some reason the town keep it quite secret.

Hiya James. 😊 As you know...I'm in Ramsgate and be happy to meet up with you and Helen by the harbour here. (...if she's forgiven me 😉😁). We have loads of pubs and bars right on the harbour side (it's a BIG harbour), including the biggest "Spoons" in the country. Other places which you should deffo visit on the Kent coast are... (In order of travelling down the A2...) Whitstable, Broadstairs, Ramsgate, Deal, Dover, and Folkestone. Whitstable is a trendy little quaint fishing seaside town. Broadstairs is a beautiful little historic town around a sandy bay with tons to see and places to eat and drink. Ramsgate is a harbour town with some of the best architecture from the 18th and 19th century. Deal is a beautiful little "gem" on the coast just before you get to Dover and has some amazing 18th century backstreets...and TWO castles! Dover...as you know is a major port town, but has a nice seafront where you can watch the ferries come and go and the biggest/oldest Norman castle in the country. Some spectacular views from up on the cliffs here. Folkestone is the next town along the coast, and has beautiful views out over the cliffs and sea from The Leas, as well as a busy historic fishing harbour. Definitely worth a visit...particularly the harbour arms with it's cafes and bars. Message me back on Instagram if you fancy meeting up. 😊 My mum lived right on the rivers edge at the bottom of Anchor and Hope Lane in Charlton at the outbreak of WWII. All my family worked ON, or near, the river. My grandad was a Thames tugman for over 50 years, but went off to fight in the war. He fought in North Africa, landed on D-DAY, and fought his way up through France and Germany until finally being part of the Belsen liberation force. So my mum and her brother and sister, AND my Nan, were initially evacuated to a big stately home in Yorkshire, but my Nan hated it and brought the kids all back home to live right on the Thames river bank in "Bomb Alley" during the Blitz! My mum often talks about sitting in her class at school or at home, waiting for the doodle bug drone to stop...and then wondering where it will land. After an air-raid warning signal one day the four of them got in the shelter that my grandad had dug in the garden...and a doodle bug landed on their street, destroying many of the homes, including my mums, and killing some of her friends. They were all buried alive in the dirt in the shelter, but managed to dig their way out with rescuers help. The other time it happened, she was sitting in her classroom at school, and they heard the doodle bug drone...and then it stopped. The teacher just got under the desk, but didn't SAY ANYTHING to the kids! Then...it landed on the school... And all the windows in her classroom exploded and burst glass all over the kids. So...she was sat there, about 6 years old, covered in glass, surrounded by screaming, blood-covered, kids.

Eden camp is great, bit shocked at the prices, I must still be thinking it 1940s prices. On the 22nd it's armed forces day in Rotherham, that might be worth a look. What isn't a bad place to visit is crich tramway musuem, that's not that far away.

I've been to Eden Camp a couple of times. Even 20 years ago it was fantastic, so I imagine it's even better today. Definitely worth a visit.

I went to Eden camp on a school trip in about 1995 maybe. I can still remember what the blitz room smells like 😂

Depending how far south you want to go to Oxford is a good place to go for architecture.

Been a few times ,very humbling! Whilst down sarf James you've got to check out Dartmouth if you never been,also Corf castle ,Durdle dor, Lulworth bay just to name a few ,all stunning places. If you like Whitby you will like Brixham it's very similar! Hope this helps matey

In july I'd recommend A trip to Portsmouth historic dockyard then a 5 minute walk to gunwharf quays you two will love it

Ossie's fish and chips 111 high street Whitstable Kent is good stuff good value. I would forget about Southend on sea. Tried there on Saturday it's not the same Southend (SUFFHEND) as when I were a wee Cockney lad.

Hey james ,thanks for another brilliant enjoyable vlog .been to malton so many times but never eden camp so must make a visit .yeah £15 is a little steep for cafe pricing . Ideas for the south coast - Littlehampton ,bognor regis,selsey ,Portsmouth. Further along Lymington is nice as is pool harbour and swanage .not sure how far along the south coast you want to go but lyme regis is nice too

Eden Camp looked really well thought out and put together, obviously an excellent popular choice for school trips too - though not helpful for a You Tuber trying to make an honest living !! You said the cafe was offering traditional 1940s recipes (but not at 40s prices !) and then noted there wasn't much meat in the pies ... " Don't you know there's a war on ?! " ... lol ... Nice sentiments at the end of the video too, I'll be keeping an eye out for which seaside towns you come to" dahn saff" in July and maybe bump into you and Helen somewhere. I've been to just about everywhere along the south coast from Broadstairs to Bournemouth and beyond about a dozen times each !

When you come down to the south. If you do coastal towns here is a few you might consider . Dymchurh is amazing . Just beyond Dymchurh there is a very quiet place called Greatstone . There is a miniature railway there that is a bit over priced . Ramsgate is very good , Dover beech is nice for a walk .Margate is a bit cheesey but ok . When you travel/tour southern england, visit the Tank Museum at Bovington near Lulworth cove in Dorset. You will be impressed. The largest tank museum in the world. Well worth a visit.

Hi James if your going down south try fit in a visit to milton keynes .If you love war stuff you will love Bletchley Park where they did the code breaking during the war it's dead interesting . Lovely grounds there's a cafe in the Manor house. They have all the huts that were used as offices and the code breaking machines .
