What is impossible to translate into print is the flavor and texture of that meal. For those that slag off that the chicken was on steroids, go back and listen to how the Chicken Kiev was prepared. The breast is pounded out. The fact that the chicken was not at all dry is a testament to the chef's technique. All the comments about this restaurant being no better than pub food, there is no accounting for lack of taste. If I would be in Lee's position, I would have dropped whatever the hell I was doing for the experience of getting into this restaurant knowing that otherwise there would be no way of gaining entry. Hard to vicariously taste the food however the nicest thing about this dining experience is that you basically own the table for the night. I am sure the prices have to be considered when you have the entire table but to me that is so rare and wonderful.
I must say I'm a bit surprised the focus is on British food and not Spanish, but that said.....wow, that is definitely my sort of meal. Big, hearty portions with proper, good quality ingredients. The chicken kiev looks amazing. This sort of food might be old fashioned, but there's a reason it's popular.

1970's English food, Chicken looked well undercooked, veg like my gran used to cooked - boiled to death 🤣Don't really think its exclusive, just another English cafe in Benidorm.
dissapointing that is the best restaurtant, looked like fairly well cooked Engish Pub fare which appeals to the types of people who go there, who only want sirlion steak and chip...an upmarket Bernie Inn, it's all very sad,I expect the best restaurant in Benidorm sells good Spanish food which the Brits will avoid because "its all a bit foreign"
Dude, Bernie Inn's were ok, decent steak and chips and Danish blue cheese and ritz crackers for £5 a plate, this place looks like a caff down some side street in Rhyl serving factory canteen food.
i'm sorry Lee but i think it's hyped, I don't think I would wait 4 or 5 weeks just to eat a kiev or even a steak, you're in Spain ,eat something nice!!
That menu was pretty much the same we were cooking at the bistro in the 80's. Not knocking it, it's good food, but love Spanish food, and you may notice from my knick-name, love fish and seafood. £50 a head was a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. A good evening like that makes a holiday.
Lee that was an AMAZING reveiew, you looked so relaxed. Michael and Mary were brilliant guests and fair play to them for inviting you, one of your best reviews in a long time. We are booked in for a week on Sat and I've now picked my choices. Kiev and definitely that Cheese cake, my mouth was slavering. It looked an amazing experience. Been before but ages ago. Ians is the best! The food is amazing and so is the service. Such a friendly welcome and lovely surroundings! Lots of laughs too! Have been many times and it's a must do each time we go to beni! And yes the chicken kiev is like no other. Incredible!

Benidorm was built to cater to the English. That is where all the money draw comes from. Cheap airfare, less than two hours to escape the crappy English weather and still enjoy all things English. English breakfasts, Sunday roasts, Fish and chips abound. A section of bars for the rowdies. Brilliant business strategy.

The steak looked amazing👍 medium spot on, saute potatoes, my favourite. Love the look and quality of the food , it's the people who make the place what it is , and no shouting or angry chefs in there I hope 😂, I always like to sample local cuisine when away but that looked ooooooooooooh 😮😮😮lol 👍
We were in the Canfali Hotel in early June which is a 2 minute walk from there. I guess it wouldn’t have mattered because of the waiting list, but thanks for the tip. Having been snobby about Benidorm for years I now love it especially the old town and the poniente side. Great video.
Lee is having the life of Lee in Benidorm. The food looks delicious and at a reasonable price. The chicken Kiev is huge. You'd think it's a turkey . The cheese cake yummy yummy I can't believe that you can have the table all night, It's great, as it makes it a compatible eating experience . Chicken Kiev would love to tast it . Next time going to Benidorm will try a book a table.
Never trust 5 star trip advisor reviews! It's a comfy restaurant for 'homesick' holiday makers, not some exceptional experience that you need to book months in advance for.

I have not been there, but seen plenty from the settings, the menu, the wine list, pricing as shown from your quality footage that it's a nice place for a meal but I wouldn't associate it with something that befits the 5-star hype or long wait on bookings. Excessive 5 star ratings on Trip Advisor comes with strings attached, the red flags for me are when too many reviewers are name-dropping staff members or the owner (as if they were all friends or somewhat) and/or rocking up mob handed so they generally get preferential treatment + group/cash discounts over that of couples and solo customers.

Come on Spain is such fabulous country great culture, great weather, great food - why do you only ever go Benidorm?? So much more to see try Seville, Granada, Cordoba, Valencia, Barcelona, etc, etc. Don't go to Spain to eat English, eat Spanish Tapas etc.
Im going to benidorm next friday. I said to my fella "oohh im looking forward to some good food" my fella replies "me to" i said "whats the first thing we should eat?" He replied with a clap of his hands "a ham and cheese toastie" 😂 i was like "wtf...are you actually being serious" he said "yeah spanish ham and cheese toasties are ace"😂😂.
Book your flights then book your table at Ian's. Top spot, everything is cooked fresh, you have your table for the evening, and the guys there are fantastic...we go everytime we're in Benidorm. Already booked for September and Xmas...love it!

Food looks a bit ordinary, Lee. Hate side plates with sliced carrot etc. You need to try some of the places round us, Northcote Manor, Three Fishes etc.
Menus a bit 1970's but if it works it works, and I'd rather have good hearty portions like those than this tasting menu malarkey that's popular now where you are paying good sovs for food that you need a magnifying glass to see on the plate. Gets my vote.
i associate chicken Kiev with frozen findus pancakes. As a 70's kid they were the fridge fillers along with fish fingers, ice pops and if you were really posh, A Vienetta

The food looks amazing. That steak cut like butter. Nothing worse than a tough chewy steak. I would love to try the chicken Kiev as it’s one of my favs.
How many hours in total did you occupy that table? Arrive at 7 pm and leave at 10 pm? Looks like the people in the tables behind Lee were gone by the time the deserts arrived.
