Mahalo, Sean, for filming and conducting the interviews with respect and Aloha. You did a nice job of putting the video together with appropriate scenes and interactions with people in an impactful but positive light. Itʻs true, this kind of "reporting" from a Local boy is different from the usual news media, especially from the continent, that abounds today. Your sensitivity and empathy with feelings of positivity and hope shine through!
Awwww thank you Jody!! It means a lot to me that you said that because it was tough since I've never conducted interviews before. But I felt I had too and the ppl have a voice. I'm glad to hear the voices from the amazing people of Lahaina. Means a whole lot!❤️🙏🤙👍
@@SeanKaleponi There have been many interviews with the local people or residents of Lāhainā by news media or other Maui residents. Many of them describe their dangerous and difficult escapes or what they have lost, so they are very sad and we feel for them, but recently many of them are very angry and frustrated about the lack of warning or the blocking of roads, and the lack of assistance from the local and federal government and organizations since the fires. This is understandable and important to know, too. We know a lot of the help has come directly from the people on the ground on Maui, but with all we see about how much has been collected and distributed by state or county, and all the services being offered by FEMA, the Red Cross, etc. itʻs nice to see some positive responses to the unbelievable conditions people are dealing with.
@@alissaswofford4554 I think the latest FBI list has 388 people, but if whole families with kids were lost and there's no one to report them missing, then they wouldn't be on the list. They still need relatives to come forward to give DNA for testing and identification of the remains they have recovered.
Lahaina is a graveyard . Return the land to the Indigenous people to do what they want with their ancestral lands . It should be a memorial site . Sacred ground . Bravo to Elena !!! The land belongs to the Indigenous . I am Ojibway from Canada . We are the minority because they stacked the deck against us . Fight for your ancestral lands . Self governance . Pride and dignity . Aloha , my prayers are with you .
Good luck getting the property back from foreigners who’ve bought much of Hawaii. Also, they should vote out the corrupt govt of Hawaii who allow the BS!
Maui will serve as a window to the world as to what to expect from the government when tragedy strikes. Your community is a beacon of light for all who have eyes to see.❤
"Hawaiian lands in Hawaiian hands." I am holding the vision of people around the world contributing to a fund to help Hawaiians not only keep the land they have but receive back what has been taken through the centuries. Thank you Sean for this lovely work you're doing.
Your video helps me get over the anger I’ve had. I’m furious they chose not to sound the alarm. I’m furious the police put up road blocks that actually kept people in instead of letting them out and able to save their lives. I’m furious they did nothing and knew this was a problem for years. Seeing these interviews is very humbling. It seems the elderly, handicapped and the children were the most vulnerable. This fire is truly heartbreaking and should not have happened. My love and prayers to all effected.
Hawaii voted overwhelmingly for Biden… and while I feel compassion for the people… part of me feels like their lack of discernment has consequences. Biden’s reaction in mind boggling.
Yes and his sympathies were late! He compared what those lost to his kitchen fire when he was worried he was going to loose his corvette? Kitchen fire? Unbelievable!
The main reason I love Hawaii so much is not just because the land is beautiful but because it’s people are so amazing! Sending prayers for strength to those who are dealing with this devastation and as much money as I could spare to help. I am so sorry for your loss. Much Aloha.
Hawaii has some wonderful beautiful people and we as Americans need to stand up for them, and make sure they are going to be taking care of, they have been through the most tragic experience in the world and they still have love in their hearts God bless them all! Please everyone help if you can because they need everything we can give them 🙏🙏🙏🙏 aloha
The lady that you spoke to around the 21+ minute mark that is making teas and holding the space, I feel her so strongly in my heart. I'm in tears listening to her speak about the silver lining. ❤ Many blessings and love from Ohio.
Aloha Chris!! Mahalo for your kind words and for spreading the message on your platform and for your donations. I feel like us Hawaii Content Creators have an obligation to be a voice but we also do it willingly!:) I appreciate and feel like I'm alongside you and the other Hawaii creators so thank you!👍🤙💪❤️
Bless you all. I love the very positive attitude of everyone involved in this disaster. I truly hope that some people do not sell out. This is their sacred land and I am praying that they will fight hard to keep their beloved land. It is hideous for those who want to take advantage of the disadvantaged. Thank you,Jesus for the compassionate hearts of the Hawaiian people.
what an awesome insider video highlighting the strength, tenacity, Ohana and Hope of the people. All were affected yet all are helping each other. Thank you for your respect and humility, otherwise you wouldn't have earned their trust. Keep Hawaiian Land in Hawaiian Hands. Don't let bureaucrats touch your lands!!! Mahalo Sean for showing that the Lord is in control and will turn ashes into beauty!
Aloha Elaine!! That's what I hope for, that no one touches their land! And you put it in such nice words. Tenacity, Ohana, and Hope. Mahalo for always supporting our channel and Maui🙏🤙❤️
💯💯 Hawaiians know the land and how to malama. the culture and people and the land are one. You can't have Hawaii without Hawaiians, the Aloha spirit is forever 🙏💕🙏💕🙏💕 Aloha 🤙🥰
Hawaii your doing an epic job your stronger that they know. We see you we hear you Stay strong You just proved to the world how much Aloha you have. Yes your building your nation. Hawaii strong!! 💕💕💕💕
These people who have lost so much are still so friendly, positive and humble ❤ They didn't deserve this!! 😢 Thank you for taking the time to do something to help. 😊 Blessings.
Such a pure and raw documentation of what's going on in Maui. With me being a local, born and raised and still living on Oahu boy, and as someone who has never visited Maui, it gives me a different perspective of what's happening on Maui after the fires that just purely watching the news doesn't convey. Very powerful words from you Sean, and especially the ones you interviewed. Thank you for this!
Aloha Alan!! Mahalo for always supporting us Hawaii RU-vidrs and more so, supporting Hawaiii during this tough time in Maui! Your encouraging words go a long way👍🤙🙏
Thank you for making this video Sean. My heart and prayers goes out to the people Maui. This video makes me feel like I am part of the Hawaii community. I love Hawaii
Aloha Kenny!!!! You are a part of the Hawaiian community!! My wife and I appreciate your support! Thank you for your contributions and prayers. We appreciate you!:)❤️🤙
The way people of Maui are still so upbeat and positive even through such hardship is so empowering and inspiring. Mahalo for putting this out and we are watching through 100% every ad! 🤙🏼
Aloha Amanda and Felix! Inspiring and empowering is def what I felt when I was talking with them. Mahalo for watching and for doing a fundraiser and spreading awareness on your channel. We both have crowds outside of Hawaii too so it means alot when you spread the message to help. Thanks again🙏❤️👍🤙
@@SeanKaleponi Our mission has 30 churches and nearly everyone has been to Maui. There is a conscience of love for Hawaii and especially for Maui. 🤙🏾👍🏾🙏🏾❤️
Hi Sean. My family & I have been following you this past year while we planned our trip to Oahu. We are great fans of you & your lovely wife. We just arrived a few days ago & all of Hawaii & Oahu are beautiful, but our hearts are with the people of Lahaina. Just saw this video & it’s so heart breaking but you speak from your heart. Keeping the people of Lahaina in prayers and may they all be lifted in spirit to stay strong. Praying for a quick recovery. Thankful for all the wonderful service providers & volunteers. Thank you Sean for making this video. Very insightful! Will be sending funds to the designated links sponsors in your video links.
Aloha Frances!! Mahalo to you and your family! I appreciate you supporting this channel and we appreciate you supporting Maui! We appreciate your donations🤙🙏💯❤️
Aloha Misty!!! I'm inspired by you too and you reaching your audience for ppl to help. I feel like us Hawaii content creators have an obligation to be a voice for Hawaii. You do that and I'm greatful to be alongside you spreading the message👍🤙and yes the people of Maui are strong and resilient!! Def got a lot of inspiration from the people of Lahaina🤙👍💪
My heart and soul hurts so bad for you guys you are my brothers and sisters in blood united we stand division we fall we can't let them do this to us love you all love you all God bless you we can make it through this without anyone except for our brothers and sisters and built better than it was before
Beautiful video, I love the strength and unity and love of the Hawaii people, may God bless each of them, and keep Hawaii belonging to Hawaii people. Amen 🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤
Wishing everybody who has been affected on the beautiful Island of Maui much success in rebuilding stronger and better. And thank you for sharing their light.
Thank you Sean & Nhi for showing us all these wonderful helping hands that come together for Lahaina, so heart warming and touching. I’ll play this video a few times a day with ad and all. Hope that it will help in a tiny way. Sean&Nhi your effort is very appreciated. 😘😘
Aloha Honu67! !! Mahalo for always supporting us and Maui!! The people are so resilient! And I appreciate you playing the video!! Have a great weekend❤️🙏🤙
Thank you, Sean, for telling the human story and not the nonsense coming from the government and the "news" organizations. This is probably not in your thoughts or your motivations, but you are what "They" fear so much because what you're doing is brining life, realism, & love to our Lahaina brothers & sisters. You're inspiring people and bringing them together instead of dividing & conquering. Aloha, good sir.🤙🏼
Aloha Alteregos. Mahalo for your kind message! I showed my wife this comment and it wasn't in my thoughts but I do know that the Hawaii News is favored to have their own agenda so I didn't wanna hear it from anyone else except the ppl. Their voices matter and I am blessed that you watch this, and others will. It's all bout unifying and not dividing. Thank you again for saying that💯🙏🤙❤️💪
We watched all your RU-vid videos, before and after our first ever visit to Hawaii (Oahu) this past June, we visited places you shared and met incredible loving people and culture. To see you sharing this video with the world is heart warming, my wife and I send our prayers to all. Even though we do not live in Hawaii, Respectively, Thank you for all you do for your community and show how beautiful the people of Hawaii are.
This video is so so touching! These people are so strong and caring for each other.. just unbelievable! I wish I had more money to give. I love your last question, 'what do you hope for the future'? Hope is everything, people need hope to move on and to look forward to something.. very well done!
Such a heartwarming video seeing the community so strong, working together. Great video, Sean! Thank you for showing us the actual locals and who they are.
What amazing interviews and great video footage. Elena speaks 100% truth!!! New to your channel and I hope more people see this video. Keep up the great work, Mahalo. ❤️🙏
That was Awesome Sean! It's hard to watch with dry eyes. I've shared it with family. They'll all want to see it. Thank you for doing these videos. Genuine as Fudge Brutha... See you next month. 😃🤙
Thank you Sean for uploading this video & interviewing the locals & getting their perspective! It is hard not to be emotionally affected watching & hearing their stories. The Lahaina spirt is strong & it's so heart warming to see the community coming together & helping each other! Mahalo to all the hard working volunteers!
Aloha Lisa!! I was happy to get the locals perspective, and I def learned a lot esp knowing how resilient ppl can be!:) and the volunteers were amazing!:) Mahalo for watching🤙❤️🙏
It’s heartwarming to see the resilient residents so positive ❤ Thank you for sharing and covering this tragic event Sean! Will be supporting the links you included!
Mahalo to You and Your wife for taking the time to do this one! I appreciate you! The courage and resilience of the people there on the ground, giving everything they have to help those who've lost everything is inspiring and heart warming! I agree with the sentiments expressed by many to keep Hawaiian lands in Hawaiian Hands! Bless them all!
Mahalo akw! Yes, that touched me the most is that those who lost their homes where still helping out others. And yes , I want the lands to stay with the people. That's what I want most. Appreciate your kind and supportive words!🤙🙏❤️
Sean I normally LOVE your videos,,,but this video was inspirational and brought tears. Keep up your great example of Ohana too the world. .......from a haole boy that grew up in Kailua so many years ago now in South Carolina. No other place as such spirit of inter-support, Mahalo Aloha!
Aloha Sean , thank you for showing this of the first hand accounts about what the people of Lahaina went through. Yes it’s devastating and yes they will recover. I have no doubt that when the rebuild starts , the materials used for the new houses/buildings will be upgraded to try and withstand another catastrophe. As we seen on tv about the one house still in tact with the red corrugated metal roof will be the roofs needed instead of asphalt roofs. Mahalo Rod 🤙
Aloha Rod!!! Mahalo for watching and always supporting our channel. That makes sense with the Rooftopw. With supporters of Hawaii like you, the people of Lahaina can make it. Thank you for your thoughts and encouraging words. P.S. that lady that was writing nonsense and you replied back to her? I blocked her. Lol. She is my actual relative (we share the same last name) and she rather try put me down, instead of uplift the ppl on her own island. Just had to let you know. Thanks for always defending me👍🤙
Thank you Sean. As a mainlander who discovered you last year to get the good eats when I moved to Oahu, this hits the heart. I’m back on the mainland now, but if I could be there to help, I would be. This literally brought tears to my eyes, in sadness and pride for the locals. They are amazing people, and even without homes made of concrete and tile… they are still rebuilding. One Ohana village at a time, making sure that everyone is being taken care of. #LahainaStrong ❤❤❤
Sean, I am like a sponge, watching every video about Maui. Your video gifted me hope and peace. I hope you run for public office. You are a wonderful person.
Aloha Sean with the news media and how they are in this day and age, it was good to see this and hear directly from those affected. It was good to hear their stories and most importantly hear the hope and strength they all have despite enduring this devastation. We will continue to send our love, strength, prayers, and support to the people of Lahaina, Kula, Maui, and all of Hawai’i. We know the people are strong and we will continue to stand alongside them now and in the future. #LahainaStrong #MauiStrong #KeepHawaiianLandsinHawaiianHands🤙🏽👏🏽🙌🏽🙏🏽
Mahalo Michelle and Jose!! You two are locals to me since you represent Hawaii and help!! We appreciate you and look forward to talking more in depth when your here and grab a bite. See you soon👍🤙❤️
Aloha for this, Sean. This shows how strong their community is for rallying to help one another and how much positivity and hope they have. Nothing will be as it was exactly but it will be stronger. The aloha spirit no ka 'oi!
Mahalo Sean for this touching video for the community of Lahaina. The resilience shows the true strength of the people. We really appreciate the behind the scenes and authentic interviews of the locals. Mahalo also for the links to the donations. The aloha spirit is alive and shown in this video. Maui and Hawaii strong! 💪🏽🤙🏽
Aloha Reyes Ohana!👍🤙Mahalo for always supporting this channel and Maui! The resilience is what really hit home for me and I appreciate your kind words! Hope all is well and look forward to seeing you guys again🤙👍🙏❤️

But seeing this heart felt video you made is so so beautiful. Yes do not sell your land rebuild. I had seen in this video how much of the ALOHA and LOVE our people have. And yes Lahaina is strong. And to ALL the kapuna that lost they're lives my heart is not swollen with hurt for you have gone home and looking down on your ohana coming together the hurt is still there cause lives could have been saved. RIP to all lost. I am so proud of being an Hawaiian seeing how or people commute together is far beyond words. LOVE FOR THE PEOPLE OF LAHAINA MAUI HAWAII. Aloha Beth!!! And thank you so much for your generous donation!!! This money donated will go to Maui!:) it means lot to get your donation and your encouraging words!!!❤️👍🤙🙏
Thank you for doing this video for people to see what’s really happening in Lahaina at the moment. The information we’ve got from Mainland news is very limited. I did donation to Maui Strong and hopefully those are impacted by the fire can get financial assistance immediately.
Im from california where its literally Valley of Wildfires, but this Fire when its in a different area and you knw people from them areas, its hits you like you truly just lost someone or something truly that you loved !!! GOD WILL BRING MAUI BACK
I am so inspired by the people in this video. Sean thank you for sharing all of these people’s story’s and how they feel. The one gentleman that said “Keep Hawaiian lands in Hawaiian hands”. That’s so important for all of you. The other gentleman that said he hopes that when people go back that they say it kind of looks like it use to once it’s rebuilt and not full of high rises. These are very important things. ❤
Aloha CTheJourney! Yes, these messages were very helpful coming from the people! Hawaiian Lands in Hawaiian Hands and when Haden said that, Haden spoke with a very heavy heart and hoping Lahaina is restored💯🙏🤙❤️
Sean I am so incredibly impressed and humbled by this video.. perfect example of why people love you. The families of Lahaina, the voice of your incredible volunteers , and the heart of little Hanalei with his big smile saying “Share your aloha” and another family saying we are all one big ohana …….. we hear you!!!! ❤ What incredible strength and positivity and community you all show! This is such and incredible example of perseverance and love! Thank you Sean for this video
Thanks Lori! I learned about how resilient people are and I got so lucky talking with the people. Thank you for your kind words. And I agree, it should go to the families and def not a fan of the major organizations. I appreciate you for sharing this video🤙
This is a wonderfully uplifting and encouraging video. Finally, I have hope for the survivors of this horrific fire. I love the message, “Keep Hawaiian lands in Hawaiian hands.” I also loved someone who said that the way they are helping each other is better than anything the government could do. I love the sense of love, pride, and independence of these people. God bless them! God bless you for making this video.
Pare Sean ,..... thank you for sharing this very important piece on the beautiful people and the beautiful land .... DONT SELL YOUR LAND ....... Much respect and love and good vibes from the Ramos Family here in the Monterey California area...... thank you pare Sean
Aloha Ramos Ohana from Oahu to Monterey Califonia! Always good hearing from you and yes, I hope they don't sell their land!! I'm glad this message is out. Appreciate your consistent support💯👍🙏🤙❤️
The people of Lahaina are very resilient as are most of the Neighbor Island communities. Diversity in the economy is important but no one seems to have a good plan. Until they do...tourism will continue to play a very important part. Maui Strong!!!
I’m a photographer and I can tell you that most of the good work in the world is not even documented bc it is a lot of work to keep stopping the good work just to document it. That’s why People like you and I, whom are in the world with our cameras documenting to show the world the good work that is being done without the need for attention or recognition, are absolutely crucial. So much goodness goes unseen and unheard, and it’s important to remember that so you don’t feel alone. ❤
Aloha Circabefore!! My wife really enjoyed reading your comments! We appreciate you. No recognition is needed and our closest loves recognize it. Mahalo again for your kind words!💯🤙❤️
@@SeanKaleponi Aloha Sean!! My best friend’s family live on Hawai’i. I never understood why anyone would live on an island in the middle of the pacific until all these stories have come out in the aftermath of the fires of Lahaina. The sense of purpose and community is so strong there~I’m moved by it. There is something truly magical about those little islands and I pray that everyone is able to rebuild and forge a new life there ❤️
My heart breaks for these people for the utter devastation of their town and homes. I really hope all donations will go to those who lost everything and not the officials who did little to help them evacuate. Very sad so many people lost their lives.
