My Trinidadian farther whose 90 lives there. I’m born and bred in London and I visit him. I love it the community is diverse respectful and I find it safe. People say hello unlike London. Yes it’s run down for sure. Perhaps Boris will invest there rather than spend money on his flat with his wife at Downing Street. In fact some government offices should move there. People are wonderful and kind and I love their accent 🙏🙏🙏❤️

I was staying in 100 Princes Avenue and around the Toxteth Area , L8 in the period 1979 - 84 . In the area about 50 - 100 Malaysian Students were residing in the Granby St area. Most of us were studying in Liverpool University and Poly. There was a mosque in Hatherley Street , The Ar Rahmah Mosque. We were a happy group and not once in that 5 years we were mugged or robbed.

When I first moved up to Liverpool I lived in Toxteth! (For 6 months) personally I had a good experience - but I’m also from London so it reminded me of many parts of London where they’re pretty multi cultural. I used to run down many of these streets (towards princes park) on my running routes.

That Street growing up had 2 chippys, loads of continental food shops, cafes bookies, butchers, school, launderette, wool shop, watch repair shop, and going back further was a cinema. Most original ppl of granby st have moved to lodge lane inc me. That was my old primary junior school . Thanks for the video.

Allo mate. I just want to say thank you for showing Toxteth. It's a great area and we're very lucky to have this community. Hopefully the regeneration will bring about more ethic, multicultural restaurants and jobs for people. I will be coming here and trying out the restaurants already here. Cheers mate :)

It’s changed a lot from when I was a kid. Granby was booming. Sound systems, most shops were private businesses and they were open. It’s all changed now mate. It’s a ghost town.

Who remembers the frontline ..and dannys shop best patties ever ..and even THOUGH we where scalywags ..robbing out of say dannys ...nahh WASNT even a thought ..ok we was cheeky but shops like dannys on granby . Are the hub of a mixed comunity . I laugh to meself now thinking about me an me pals in dannys being lipoy ..but we knew the line .. i only speak to a couple of my childhoid pals i live in kent im a plant operator now ..my other pal tommy is a gaffer in north west electrity . Used to be manweb on lister DRIVE .. who remembers the all might RAVES in EMPTY house almost opposite front line ...and Delroy Burris..a good guy had a lot of time for him

I used to live on Kingsley road as a young lad i had quite a lot of friends most were of who were mixed race we were at the Caribbean carnival all the community of toxteth were dancing eating different kinds of food those were the best days

He's right all the public money gets pumped into the place and squandered by directors of so called charities just to leave all those shops empty. It's a crying shame. Visit north Liverpool , that's where the real poverty is.

Thanks for posting I was born in 1949 Elmwood home for unwed mother’s North Mosley Hill Road as I was adopted I know nothing about my family I joined an organisation and traced my mother father both sets of grandparents etc The Woodward’s and Cunningham’s lived in Toxteth !! At this stage I only have one street address 44 Garaint street. I live in Australia so can’t just pop on the bus but have looked at the house in Google earth. Looked similar to those where you started filming Anyone who knew the Cunningham’s or Woodward’s please let me know Cheers

In the sixties we lived at 15 Ducie Street happy memories just before covid hit myself and brother went to our old house which is still there and just walked around to all the places we knew . It has changed alot but we still enjoyed seeing it again .

There is a reason those buildings are "shabby". The Labour Government did a compulsory purchase and then when the 2008 recession hit they didn't do anything and just left the houses empty!

The Somali and the Adenese/Yemini communities in the UK port cities like Liverpool, London, Cardiff, Middlesbrough, etc were originally mostly men employed in the shipping industry and because of the lack of women from the same background they usually settled with local British women and had mixed race children. Chinese, Indian, Sri Lankans, West African and East African, West Indian and Central and South American and Maltese and Cypriot seamen all lived in the early docklands settlements (plus Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Spanish, Dutch, Greeks, North African and Arabs, etc and the local English, Irish and Scottish people all formed some very mixed areas that were the first ethnic minority communities in the UK, even though they were only seen in certain cities and were not large communities. The original Chinese district in London in Limehouse, the Yemini and Somali community in Cardiff and Middlesbrough, Tiger Bay in Cardiff, the original China Town and Liverpool 8 were all examples of those districts.

toxteth is a great area its been done up loads since after the riots happened till now, now its croxteth and noris green that are run down and plagued with gangs and crime in north Liverpool

I lived on upper parliament Street in the 1950s. The house we lived in faced Granby Street we could see almost all the way down. It was full of shops all the way down on both sides, a really busy shopping area.

The foreigners ruined this area, basically it's a ghetto. It started in the early 60s. We lived by the Philharmonic from 65/74 & I remember my father telling me that once I go past the Rialto I am in Indian territory, so be careful. To think it was once a lovely area.

I’ve just found your channel, you live in my old flat brother👊🏼 My spar downstairs from you told me you where cool. Tell them about Granby, Lodge Lane and Kensington, Chinatown(formerly Little Africa), all multiracial areas, being left to decline, the reason there isn’t many shops, is because the council makes it near impossible for us as born residents to acquire a lease. They will allow the newer residents to our community to lease stores, as they are pushing for votes. Our neighbourhood is run down as the council want to push us out for the middle class to take. Granby as the Frontline has been multiracial since the Trans-Atlantic slaves days. We have been a melting pot since before anywhere else, we are Brazil before Brazil🤣👊🏼

When I lived there Granby was alive. It's looks desolate now. Walking down there I'd have stopped to talk to about 20 different people.

You can live in a diverse community just respect the British Culture and learn to adapt their way of living rather than act superior and prove yourself as someone else. It's good to live in a place sometimes in a multi-cultural community that respects each other.

I went to my old town Wolverhampton for a few days, just got back, there's an area called Whitemore Reans, it's worst than Toxteth, I should have done a video, but it's not safe to do so, it's like multicultural but with people from all over the World there, literally, it was lovely growing up, it's an absolute shite hole now, plus the druggies are everywhere, never seen so many in one place? I would never live there again.

@@yamyam_1978 yeah very rough areas too, probably on par with Whitemore reans tbh, yeah I moved to Northamptonshire in 2009, best thing I ever did.. I feel no connection with the place anymore, I don’t recognise anyone on my old estate? Labour has ruined Wolverhampton, it has no identity anymore.
