From a nail tech perspective... the first shop did not take their time to prep the nails. What is referred to as "scars" is lifting that was not taken off. The 1st salon is called a NSS(non standard salon. Walk in) the 2nd salon is clearly higher quality, but you did not walk out with French. What you got at the first one is a classic french. The 2nd one is a geometric French. The coffin nails DO NOT WORK WITH FRENCH. Personally if I was your tech I would take your coffin nails more tapered, or give you longer tapered almond nails. In conclusion; your 1 star experience is what you will typically get in that type of setting. There is 0 uniform for nails. But just know, when you said classic French, you got EXACTLY what you asked for. Your 5 star salon did not give you a French. That is not considered a classic French. What you got was a geometric French.

I get that, but I 100% understand the nail tech side of things. (I am a nail tech) if someone is going to have your work on their hands, you want it to look great, right? I always offer to compromise a design if I don’t think it will be flattering. I think by doing this I’ve only ever had 1 or 2 people be like no, I want exactly that. Also, you want to put your personal flare into it! It’s a design you don’t want to basically copy and past 😂 I hope you can see both sides 😋

The scientist in me is really upset that you told the second salon what was going on. You should have gone in and asked for a classic french manicure like you did in the first salon, so that you would get a 💯 fair comparison. You gave the second salon a heads up that they were in a competition.

whtevritis2 it’s funny I came back to this video and just saw this comment, but you’re so right. After watching this the first time, I’ve gone to this salon like 2-3 times and I got the same nail technician that Lauren had here and still goes to and raves about, and every time I’ve seen this woman she’s so rude and huffy with me. I respect cosmetologists so much and I tip well, stay quiet, do whatever they ask me and don’t even complain when they do something wrong but from the jump she was so rude to me. I wonder if I walked in and said I was an influencer and was going to post a video or instagram pictures, she would’ve been way nicer, which is so sad.

I'm gonna be honest, because you asked for feedback, but literally the first one was not as bad as you made it out to be. Of course another salon is going to say otherwise because that's another outlet for you to then ask them to fix it. Especially when you're already having them do your other hand. You're also telling them how dissatisfied you are before they get started, so they already have an idea of what not to do. I would have been really curious what the outcome would have been had you gone to the "1 star" salon last. Again, them already having a visual of what your other hand looks like kinda tells them your style. No hate, just giving you my honest opinion.

The 1 star did do a French manicure. A French means the overhang of the nail plate is painted white. Her nails are just way too ridiculously long for a what looks like a traditional French manicure.

I also agree. The 5-star nail salon didnt do a very good job either. I dont like the nude gel. A sheer, light, natural pink would look much better and that how french tips should be. But the silver lining at the end did save the design. The technician at the 5 star should have made her coffin tinier at the top, then the triangle french tip would look much better and not as big and ugly. Also, the lines of the triangle were too curvy. They should have been more straight. The technician at the 1-star salon did a careless job. But then if he didnt ask the customer, it is still her responsibility to tell him what she wanted. However, how could he just let the nails all crack and dirty like that. Gosh!

Nami_Swan the reason WHY he painted all of that was because she wasn’t very specific with what she wanted and usually with French tips, you would need a shorter nail because it looks awful with longer nails. However her nail was long asf

I can't think of anything to comment so I'm just going to post a Blueberry pancake recipe. 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon baking powder 1 1/4 teaspoons white sugar 1 egg 1 cup milk 1/2 tablespoon butter, melted 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, thawed 1. In a large bowl, sift together flour, salt, baking powder and sugar. In a small bowl, beat together egg and milk. Stir milk and egg into flour mixture. Mix in the butter and fold in the blueberries. Set aside for 1 hour.A 2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.😂🤷🏻‍♀️♥️👌🏻

If she had tell the first saloon too then they might have done the good job to look perfect on camera for sure and mostly I think 2nd saloon took that advantage and give her nice service plus champagne 🥂 because they knew their place is getting tested for who's the best manicure saloon. Basic example : a Food critic would never ever tell the 5 start restaurant that he got a bad service and food at previous restaurants, then the other place would definitely gonna try harder to get him to give them 5star review. Common sense.

No hate or anything, but both look pretty cheap... Im polish, and in my nail salon, the way my nail stylist does my nails is nothing in comprison to the ones you got.... like im such a perfectionist and i need everything to be 100%. Cuticles, the nails shape etc (I do the coffin shape). I do acrylics too and even when they grow back the way the girl does my nails omg, like they legitimately look as if there was nothing on it and its just my nails. I do spend 2.5h in the salon, every 3 weeks tho, but it's totally worth it. People gasp when they see my nails, I get a lot of compliments on them and it's totally worth it. I know a lot of people from US complaining about the nail salons services and I see why. ANDDDDD so sorry for the rant! :D I love u Lauren ! And i love watching your videos

Both look not made by professional salon,i’m Italian ,i live in Rome and when I go to have a refill it’s completely different . I’m a perfectionist like you,and I have never seen a french like that. My personal opinion is that contrast between the white of the french and the base color it’s horrible. I just wanna know, how much do you pay for a gel refill? I pay 35 € , which should be 40$ . Sorry for my english,hope is not that bad. Let me know,pls

I love my nail stylst cos I'd come up with many ideas of what I want to have done and she has eveyrthing to make it happen :) As I mentioned it's time taking, cos it's 2.5h as everything needs to be perfect, but totally worth it :)

I will never understand how people get their nails done in the square shape.. it makes your fingers look horrible. But I guess it depends on the person. :D I think you should go to them with a specific picture of what you want and see how they deliver. Because now it didn't feel like a real comparison because you talked way more detail at the second nail salon.

@xoxojoc There's no right or wrong here, some people think square nails looks horrible, some people think pointed or oval nails looks weird. you do you. i just think square nails look trashy and more cheap because they remind me of the dollar store stick on ones i guess, and I would totally poke my eye out with them and I prefer almond or stiletto shape. ;)

Monike Cavalcante similar situation happened to me when getting my weekly basic manicure because my manicurist was busy so I had to go someone else and the lady was so old and shaky and honestly, it was like a child painted my hands and as I very nicely pointed it out, she started hollering and slamming things down lol

I agree. If she want to made a video like that she should have enough knowledge about what she talk. And the second 5* she said like the way my customer say “you try to pick money from my bucket” because you coming with Original French Manicure. She was suck and No knowledge about that. For someone with this many views/subscribers, this is sloppy content... (Also, the comparison wasn’t even fair). With your nail shape / widthy, you need to go to a japanese nail salon and get almond / pointy shaped so it doesn't look so wide and wonky. It will elongate your look a lot!

I live near a place called Cathy Nails. It’s in Virginia but they where really mean to us all. My little sister who was four at the time messed up her nails two or three times as a little kid would, and the owner Cathy, was mean to her and my sister also dropped a paint bottle and she practically yelled at her. So my stepmom played it off saying that she shouldn’t have had it to start with, even though she was waiting to get her nails painted, but as soon as we got in the truck my stepmom said “We will never ever go back there again because they where completely mean.” So we left and have not been ever since and that was almost a year ago. That whole experience took at the least 1hour and 45 minutes. That is my bad nail experience.

My worst nail experience turned out exactly how your 1 star hand did!! I wanted French tip on my coffin nails and the White was SO thick, basically half the nail was the tip. Plus I had “scars”/lines showing up on my nails underneath the clear paint. Yikes!

my worst nail salon experience was when i came in for the first time ever to do my nails. i was so excited cause it was the first time i would get them professionally done rather than me doing it myself. i have this really big birth mark that’s on my right hand and when i came to the lady they told me was available, you could tell that she didn’t want to do it, she went over to the person at the front that assigned her to me and i could hear her from over at the front saying she didn’t want to do my nails cause the mark on my skin could be contagious and that it’s gross. i was 12 and i kinda was still a little self conscious over my mark that took over half my hand. and knowing this lady was in disgust while doing my nails really made my sad but angry. but i’m 16 now and i’ve grown a pair and now i don’t care what others have to say about my hand

My worst experience was literally the other day. The lady was rushing too much, and she cut me on two of my fingers. And then the acrylic nail on my first and middle finger were CROOKED! I told her nicely and all she did was rudely say how it’s not crooked and that she’s not done yet. I patiently waited until she was done shaping them and it was still crooked !! On top of that the nail designer did anything she wanted to do. I asked her for specific things that I wanted and she just acted like she understood but didn’t give me what I asked for at all. I wanted hearts on my nails for Valentine’s Day.. and she basically charged me $5 for every heart that she drew.. it was the worst !

The 5 star ones are very pretty, especially for the cost. Square and French are both older styles, so the second nail tech did a good job leading you towards a more contemporary look that suits the rest of your style

Baby if u wanted the white part to be smaller u should have told the guy to do that🅿️ but French really outdated any way plus it was kinda unfair to compare them like that like the nail lady obviously saw the “cracks” and that u didn’t like the white part so I wonder that she gonna do hmmm NOT GONNA make the white part that long and fix the cracks no duh. And tbh I’ve been getting my nails done for years and if I see sum wrong it don’t matter where I’m at I will let it be known to the person that’s doing my nails and they always fix it like idc if they mess up as long as they fix it and looks good at the end and if I see my stiletto shape not as sharp as I like it I will tell them to make it sharper like how hard is it to say u don’t like it like come on now .

Kelsey Howell What? Just because some people still do something doesn’t make that thing any less outdated. Would you agree that an iPhone 4, first released in 2010, is outdated? My boyfriend still has one because he likes it more than the new ones. Now, the fact that someone still uses it doesn’t chance the fact that it is an outdated phone. Same concept here. I rarely ever see anyone with French nails because they’re outdated. Just because someone is clinging to the outdated look doesn’t make them any less outdated.

To be honest the first hand is nicer in the base where it meets your skin, looks natural, I just wish it was cleaner and narrower and the white tips are thinner, the second hand looks like clip on nails .. sorry But I have to admit the way it was done like tools and all is better on the second.
