Re: the nail polish shaker: I have a condition that causes muscle weakness, and I find that shaking nail polishes fatigues my arm muscles very quickly, to the point where I can't do it properly. I'm thinking that could be a potential market for that item.

Try rolling the polish bottle between your hands. It's not as strenuous and some nail techs say it actually mixes the polish better. 💖 I have a bunch of nerve and muscle damage in by shoulder neck and back and shaking also kills my chronic pain areas. 💖💖

@@BeccaBender37 Yes, or they wouldn't have purchased it. The problem may be the speed of movement for shaking. It may be a matter of using the least energy possible so the person had enough energy to finish. It could be that they have other tools foe painting their nails like a prop to put their arm at a better angle and maybe the bottle holders so they don't need to make that extra motion. Everybody has different abilities and a lot od items may help one person but not another. E.g., I need an electronic wine opener but still can lift the wine glass to my lips.

That’s what I was thinking. I remember watching a video where a women tried out a lot of those one purpose cooking tools and she said a lot of them are pointless or like why would you spend money on that but someone pointed out in the comments that for people who have disabilities they are very helpful. So I try to keep that in mind now. 40 dollars is a lot though it should be 20

I think the shaker would be for someone like me! I am quadriplegic from a neurological disorder and I do my own nails, but shaking the polish is something I can’t do myself. I have my husband or kids do it for me.

The bottle shaker could be great for people with EDS or other disabilities. A lot of the time if things are being sold that make abled people think "what's the point?" It's frequently not for you. It's for people with disabilities. I love your content Cristine, just wanted to explain that this might be the reason that product was made. ^^

I bought one because it's easier on my wrists and if I have to add thinner too I'd be shaking until forever. Also, for able bodied people: the shaker doesn't cause bubbles in your polish whereas normal shaking does.

Cristine, the nail polish shaker thing is used at my salon! But it's used for eyelash glue bottles (with similar shapes), not nail polish. My salon lady uses it all the time because she has pain in her wrists.

If anyone hasn't realised yet, mystery boxes are how companies get rid of stock that isn't selling and they usually ham it up with one wanted item. You are literally buying stuff the general public doesn't want so the company can still make some money on it.

We use the shaker at the lash studio I work at. You have to shake the lash glue for 2 straight minutes so the shaker comes in handy!

I love writing reviews on Amazon tbh. When I get something I use it for a bit, write a review. Cause I read the reviews and it can definitely influence me if I buy it or not. So when I buy one and review it I always hope that my review can help tip someone’s scale or not.

Just one question about quality control: to avoid waste, why couldn't these lesser quality batches be sold at a much lower price and clearly advertised as such? I'm sure some people wouldn't mind, as long as it's clearly stated that it's a bad batch

People wouldn't think of the brand as one with quality and standards, sometimes bad batches can be dangerous for ones health (just think about makeup with some outside pollution which may cause increase of bacteria), + the quality of bad batches may vary a lot too, when is it bad enough too give back? Like yeah, imagine you buy a bad batch and you just thought the nailpolis isn't that opaque, but in the end it's like totally moldy or smthg. May you give it back then? Companies could use that against customers. +some companies do things like these, especially in food production, like buying fruits which don't have the standard quality for supermarkets (supermarkets want them to look esthetically pleasing, have a certain size, Form, etc). They buy fruits that otherwise would just be thrown away and make products out of them.

@@cassatan5318 some small indie polish brands will sell prototypes and 'mystery' polishes. Sometimes they don't like how the color turned out or pigment batches changed and they don't match older releases etc. Mold and bacteria can't grow in nail polish due to its chemical makeup.

Like I responded to Miranda, some smaller polish brands will sell "off" products, but most of the indie brands I know of are one or two people making small batches so they have time to fiddle with formulas. Holo Taco is more of a boutique brand, making larger quantities at a time, so if a formula was off on a certain batch it could be time consuming to try and figure out what is wrong. If it's just a matter of off colors I could see selling those, but if it's something like the base being too thick or too thin then it would be more difficult.

@@cassatan5318 In the clothing industry it's common practice. You get first quality in the boutiques, second quality in the outlets and second / third quality in the market (often with the label taken off, in the last case). Some brands of food have offbrands and they do the same

From what i understand, it can jeopardize their reputation. Lets say you buy it knowing that it is the lesser quality stuff and are ok with it. But if somehow other people get a hold of it and start telling other people that they dont like it. Or it is not good quality, the companys reputation will get ruined and affect sales. That is why there is quality control. To make sure only the best gets sold.

The "Dust Collector Thing" isnt for using after filing. Its for using it while filing so naildesigner doesnt breathe so much dust in their lungs, because its way more dust there when you file gel- or acrylic nails. :D Thats the reason why it has lights on it and so on.
