Funny story this reminded me of. I used to have a neighbor who owned an MR2 Spyder. Of which, he replaced all the Toyota badging with Porche ones. And because there weren't many car enthusiasts around here, most people took it at face value, which I found hilarious.
Good to see Marc in the video! Excited to see how the CaMR-Sy is going to fair against the 2023 GLTC field. Lots of vettes this year and the perennial K-powered contenders.
The joy you bring to a LOT of us every saturday morning is priceless. When you feel like "This is just content for YT", let me remind you: Your art lights up and upbrings lives! Thank you GG!
The engineering on the cage fabrication is amazing. Came a long way with tech yet he’s still on top of his work to make the perfect cage 💯 Also great video from GG yet again, I always look forward to these Saturday drops
I like how G&G takes the time to showcase the shops that help them build their cars. I've noticed over the past 5-6 years they do that. We need more of this type of "give credit were credit is due" in the automotive industry. Whether its the shop that helps them weld in cages, or Ronnie who built the 4G63, Andy with ASM & the K20 build, or the guy in VA/Maryland (forgot his name) who dyno tuned the MR2. Its a good showcase of the shops skills & moves the auto industry forward.
As a technician who doesn’t look at his phone but will auto play RU-vid videos, your background music mixed with various mechanical noises is like going to a spa for me. Please don’t let up on it
Here i am struggling to get an ac powersteering civic ferio kswap build in north america and you guys putting porsche gt3 money into an old mr2. Fantastic work pushing forward innovation on this platform and staying true to the brands heart. Much luck and thanks for the content!
I love my mr2 man, its just such a fun car. Every time i see mr2 content on the channel it warms my heart hahaha. Hopefully you are enjoying the car as much as i enjoy my stock car :')
The wide-body will help, since it lets you safely run wider tires, which should help a lot with both keeping it steady in corners and also with braking performance.
Have a red Apr mr2 spyder turbo and it totally transforms car to standard looking to Ferrari beauty. It will look amazing once it’s done. Also don’t forget to use the Apr carbon splitters as it’s icing on the cake.
Kei car for "wide bodies" :) Seriously though this is a welcome build and car that is on my bucket list for no reason other than I like the idea of the MR2 Spyder.
I do agree that the MRS is under appreciated. I don't know why when unironically it is almost ready to track out the box, AND LOOKS GOOD, these goobers who say it looks lame can suck it. These cars are absolute BEASTS, balance it great for a mid engine, light as shit, small wheel base (which would make you think its snappier but nah she a beast), and lastly, the 1ZZ is a good ass engine that can take one heck of a beating and its simple to modify on top of that. If I didnt already spend my life savings and left kidney on my old 86 I wouldve gone with the MRS in a heart beat.
I had a really good laugh when you transitioned to the car being finished 😆 I know it's not done but hilarious. I can't wait to see it lowered with some appropriate wheel! 🔥
Wouldn’t OEM body with a flare kit be better for touring cars. The probability of contact is high right? But from aero perspective I see the advantages.
I'm curious to see what you're going to do about the wheelbase and track width being closer to square. When the Spyder starts to rotate it's probably going to want to spin like a top.
there is literally not a more perfect moment than at 4:20 This moment is both "nice" bc of the timestamp but also this is one of the most honest opinions I've heard about a car in a long long time
