The winning formula in all of dying light is difficulty/danger plus variety of zombies multiplied by different ways to kill them plus nuanced parkour. Sprinkle in some guns and a FEW instances of human combat for the cherry on top. I would even say hat more zombie types is just as , if not more important than the variety of weapon archetypes. There's really nothing cooler than discovering a random wild new creature to battle. Animal zombie mutations could be amazing. A zombie bebop or rock steady from TMNT ? Hell yeah!
You know i want a story dlc that lets us go back to harran hell maybe aiden goes to find the secrets of kyle crane maybe even meet human or zombified crane and some old characters
It's funny that you think this DLC will have over 5 to 6 hours of content, almost as hilarious as the devs claiming it would take 500 hours to complete Dying Light 2
Animations over physics killed the game for the people, the lackluster gore killed the game for me. That's all, there's no replayability on a zombie game if killing zombies feels repetitive, you can make all the content you want but if the main mechanic doesn't work (again, killing zombies) the game just won't be replayable, DL1 is still alive cuz it had BTZ (competitive) and Physics over animations which made interactions/killing zombies 10000 times better.
I've been saying this since day 1. What could have possibly been going through their minds when making DL2 and NOT bringing back BtZ 2.0? It is beyond me how you could leave out the literal lifeblood of DL1.
In my opinion I love the combat physics its really satisfying again depends on the weapon. But to your point bro I understand where your coming from for me too many cutscenes and the missions aren't long enough thats just me tho
When I first heard Hakon in the game I was like okay this guy's my best friend for life I don't care if he betrays me he is an awesome character Ciro literally one minute with him was the most annoying experience I just wanted him dead immediately I mean 1 he steals what I have 2 he acts like a big shot when I do all the work and 3 in the end I wanted to spare him no matter how annoying he was just to get the best ending
And i play dl2 over and over, much more then dl1. Dl2's story while dumb, was more interesting then Crane's story, combat and parkour feels much better and overall world is more interesting then harran where i only liked old town.
I believe most hate is from people who loved dl1 like me and was awfully underwhelmed with dl2 as a whole and is waiting for something to actually spark them to play, and none of this is doing the trick to be frank
Techland had enough time to make a very good game, a banger.... and DL2 is not a banger its just a decent game overall. Parkour is good but combat and crafting is awful. Story is also good, but what tf is going on with the voicelines???? So long i was waiting for this game, and its overall a dissapointment.
We just need more zombie focused dlc…hey does anyone else feel like the beginning part of DL2 was perfect? Where it’s sunset and spike helps you navigate the woods, with zombies howling in the background and the lighting and atmosphere is PERFECT. I swear we need more of that, as soon as I get to the main city, it feels nothing like that of what I felt in the intro of DL2. It really gave off a spooky, helpless paradise vibe, where it’s a beauty of a sight, but still grounding you in the terror with the zombie howls. I think what made dead island so popular was the feeling of a paradise “dream” vacation turning into a horror zombie shit show. I seriously cannot tell you how impressed I was the first 10-20 mins of DL2 In that intro woods mission with spike, it’s like so beautiful and dream like and the zombie howls really made it feel surreal. I seriously crave that. Dying light 1 also gave off that vibe, where you truly feel alone in a city full of zombies, the lighting during sunset is too perfect, with the fire barrels becoming more bright and flaring as the sunlight dies out..idk but that formula needs to be made into a full game or dlc. The woods aspect with the howling zombies is just soooo perfect I seriously cannot stress that enough, it feels so real In a fictional game
Yeah that was the best section of the game for me. Made me feel like i was actually there. I think they fired the main writer which is why the tone and vibe of the game changed so much
Man.. in the following you meet a figure called the mother, the mysticism is there from the beginning. And although you never meet her true self until the end, the twist puts you at the end of your seat. And then you're faced with a tough choice.. try to save your friends, or realize all really is lost.. Bloody ties doesn't have that. I'm not wondering what will happen next. I didn't care about the relationships. And the endings didn't really matter. Not saying it was a bad game, because it's not! But we know Techland has done better. And if you liked the DLC I'm happy for you! Just wasn't for me..
Bloody Ties was incredibly lackluster for me, it brought some cool things to the table like the Manica, some of the outfits look super neat and a few of the challenges were great, such as the Harran one. It's definitely worth while if you really enjoy Dying Light 2 simply because the DLC is cheap as hell. If you've not been keeping up with Dying Light 2 and you're waiting for content that's going to pull you back into the game, Bloody Ties definitely isn't it. Hopefully Techland go BIG DICK with the second DLC, similar to The Following in terms of gravitas. Great vid Oni, new style really fits.
It feels like Techland found themselves a corner in the Zombie scene that no one can copy and instead of securing that spot and make it even better, it feels like they just decided to abandon the corner. I feel Bloody Ties is just more of the same. I never even touched the DLC cuz I just care that little about trying it. I knew it from the beginning it wasn't gonna be for me and seeing this video confirmed it.
@@Sardoniccurb I personally wouldn't call it innovative but I understand what you're saying. The Following did have a cool concept with Sentient Volatiles though which would've been so cool to see in DL2. Instead of embracing what they got right in DL1, they're using DL2 as a testing ground for a new project, and we know this new Project is an RPG which DL2 is really trying to be.
@@TheGravityShifter dying light 1 was innovative because it synergized multiple gameplay elements like melee hack and slash, physical moves, parkour, and a robust crafting system. The story is lackluster but the questing and being the fixer across a very dangerous world was great. The day-night cycle was very groundbreaking for the time based on how drastically changed gameplay and how you had to plan around it. Especially on your first playthrough, night ain't nothin to fuck with!
@@cynicaltheastrocreep4504 Naturally. That's what helped them get the "Corner." Day/Night I would argue isn't all that Groundbreaking as the concept isn't truly anything new. 7 Days To Die (especially during a Blood Moon night), Minecraft, The Forest, and probably more games I've yet to see have nights that are more dangerous than the day. If you wanna exclude games that haven't gone gold, then Minecraft and The Forest. I think even State of Decay has done the polarizing Night thing too. I think what makes DL1 unique in this aspect is they have a Mascot/Apex Predator/Nemesis to watch out for with this very mechanic. Also it's very dynamic in how Night is done. So if anything, DL1 is arguably the first in perfecting this concept.
@@TheGravityShifter I'm not saying everything dying light did was completely unique. It wasn't. I think minecraft was abandoned as a survival game a long time ago but the shift in day/night isn't as comparable. Dying light has a stark contrast in day vs night and I guess it's similar in concept to Minecraft but very different in execution. I don't know much about 7 days to die except that it is early access bad survival game trash. It had a very good synergy of multiple mechanics and it felt really fun. The story wasn't very good but had some decent moments and set pieces which serviced the gameplay, for the most part.
I am counting down the days to December 6th so that they can show us more DI2, I'm hoping that it provides a good zombie game that focus on zombies I'm sick and tired of zombie games that focus on humans.
I wouldn’t get your hopes up if I were you, we did with that dying light 2 based off the gameplay trailers, dead island 2 can do the same exact thing also considering it was in development for the longest now, wait a few days after it’s release and see where it is then
They said this DLC was inspired by Mad Max and other movies like that. And I think that's the exact problem with DL2. It should be inspired by 80's zombies movies like the first game.
Not gonna lie, I love techland, I am in love with their games but they really deserved that mixed response from the community. Nobody asked for a focus on people, it's a zombie game, no one asked for challenges, they knew we hated them and yet they took the risk. I don't really seem to understand what their logic is. Because it has been 9 months that we see more and more of that crap and we always tell ourselves, it is bad but it's techland so they will learn from that...But do they now ? I know I am beign pessimistic but holly molly it's hard to believe in something I love when we see that they do stupid mistakes very time and yet they still do the same mistakes. And for me, I don't find it normal that they had 7+ years experience with that kind of game, they knew exactly what people liked and what people did not, how can you MESS that up !???
The game needs to be a zombie survival game, but right now it’s an un-grounded superman-Spider-Man sim with zombies also with a sprinkle of Harry Potter, that flying broom is a joke
I had a lot of fun with Bloody Ties. There was enough variety in the challenges that they kept me interested, and they were very different from the ones found in the open world of Villador. I enjoyed the story, and everything that came along with it. My only issue with it is how it ended(you mentioned this pretty thoroughly). That being said, I played it, beat the whole thing, and now I’m already back to playing other games.
I agree with what you said at 19:58 I think Techland should use Carnage Hall for more things and slowly expand on it. New Spectacles, New Gamemodes and maybe even PVP. It will also tie in very well with the story. Similar to a live service system even.
Dlc is not worth it at any price... Can't justify giving them more money when they released a buggy unfinished unpolished product... I don't reward incompetence ,they should have learned from the first game and polished it as much as DL1 ended up being after years of updates. Should have took the necessary time needed before releasing.
I hate this game Edit: I was 8 when this game announced I was hyped and I saw game play in 2019 and I was hyped and when the game came out I played it I liked it but it my opinion on the game just got more negative update after update this is how you treat us techland GET YOUR S*IT TOGETHER I need a break
I agree with everything you said here. It's a good dlc, but it's definitely not enough. Kinda scary that we're so late into year one and there's just still nothing to do after you beat the game. Like their attempts are welcomed and enjoyed, but I personally need more. Techland planning bringing back legend levels soon is a great step forward, I hope it doesn't take to much longer to implement. I thoroughly enjoyed the challenges they offered but after beating them once, like you said, there's just no reason to replay them and I don't even feel the want to replay the story to see the bad ending. Techland really needs to do something, and kinda fast. I agree that they should just stop with the branching storyline strategy, it just doesn't work and honestly will be a major proponent to my excitement towards the next dlc. All in all Bloody Ties was fun and interesting but it's not something that I'm really looking to return too anytime soon.
Nothing to do but parkour around a giant city and kill a unlimited amount of zombies, specials, and bandits. Introducing legend levels doesn’t change that premise. Maybe zombies games aren’t for you if that doesn’t satisfy you bro
@@saulrivera2646 someone didn't play dying light 1 and it shows. There was plenty to do besides just "running around and killing zombies", even before the following and the bozak horde released there was plenty to do. Not only that but this is the second game in the series, it should've had more than the first by default and I let that slide for almost a year. Who tf are you to tell me what's for me and what isn't. I've followed techland since dead island 1 was announced. Even that game had more to do in terms of endgame than dying light 2, you clearly don't know what you're talking about and honestly I just implore that you stop while your behind as there's really nothing you can say at this point to change mine and many others minds, techland needs to do something and fast or the games dead in the water before year 2 which is by far the saddest outcome that can happen. And to finish off, there isn't even that many zombies to fight bro, the streets are near vacant compared to the first game, volatiles are husks of their former selves, banshees are literally useless, etc. The zombies need to be amped up, there's 4 chase sections in the entire game and 1 of them is avoidable entirely, and last but most definitely not least, the threat of night is non existent as the second you get into a chase you immediately have 5 to 8 safe zones within a couple hundred meters that are constantly shown not on your compas but right in your face the entire time making them pointless unless you deliberately try to go for a high level chase. So yeah, I stand by my comment.
Mixed reviews on Steam sitting at 48% positive, the only 2 days where there were more positive reviews than negative was the first 2 days of the DLC release. It's almost to 'Mostly Negative' once it hits 39%. Now imagine if all the ppl who weren't interested in the DLC left a review.
I felt the exact same way about the lack of infected involvement in the story. Even in the main game's story, they could've come up with something so much better if they kept the focus on the infection instead of "human vs more human" or "Family Drama". Also, Ciro was just... So unlikable. I honestly could not care for any character I've met during the story, but Ciro was just a nuisance.
For the armour in the game - they need to have sets that you can switch between, instead of having to change every single piece when you want to play in a different style
I really think they need to hire you as a consultant. No BS. They NEED to do something different. They are hopping over dollars to save dimes. Great video Oni.
Ehh I’m kind of disappointed with the direction they went for the first dlc. I wanna see some heavy zombie focused content. The zombies make this game, not the humans. I don’t even like fighting the human ai. I think at this point we need a following type dlc. Give us a new map to explore with new mechanics and ways to traverse and please give us a survival difficulty, bring back the ability to fortify interiors. I just want more immersion tbh.
Techland does NOT deserve the opportunity to make another game after the scam they pulled with Dying Light 2.. DL2 was nothing short of fraudulent upon release and has consistently managed to disappoint at every opportunity since.
I haven’t regret buying a game in awhile.. but when I played this when it first came out.. I IMMEDIATELY FELT something was off about this game. The graphics, the animations, the clunkiness, the ANNOYING UV light system, the physics & much much more, for me, is the reason I only played like 3 hours of this game. At least the collectors edition is kinda cool 😅
I put over 200 hours on both games, played the first dying light thoroughly even the DLC’s , I did the same with Dying light 2, I can agree to the fullest extent that something definitely felt off playing DL2 for the first time. It was as if they were moving backwards and steering away from what made dying light great, the movement, the gore, the weapons hell even the guns. Dying light 1’s atmosphere was scary, the second felt too RPG. The only thing that gives me hope for dying light 2 is the fact that we still have years of content updates and fixes to look forward too. If they can manage to implement exactly what they did with the first game to the second, then it’ll AT LEAST have replay value, a good sequel but not as great as Dying Light 1 👍🏼
I wish we could get a dlc similar to the following but this Time Outside The Walls you got yourself a Bike or an Old Buggy and well everything is outside the walls contact with humans is like to the Minimum and is completely focused on the Zombies at all time 😕 I hope we get a Massive DLC Similar to the Following Soon Only thing I’m happy about with this DLC is all the OP weapons I got from it other than that it was okay definitely wasn’t the Following Good 😕
At least for me, the game completly lost its charm even before this DLC.. after DLC it vanished completly.. Wanted a Immersive Horror Game with a Parkour with Systems that make sense and arent complete garbo (Gear Farming, "RPG" Features that are just complete miss with random stat rolls that dont even make difference, Simple Events and Challenges... Huuh, just re-color this Goon, make him glow green and call that sheet an event or something. I dont blame them tho, seems like they lost it on their way making this game.. This DLC was just a nail to the coffin personally.
i found the dlc to be very boring. It wasnt interesting at all. NOT A SINGL:E CHARACTER was worth a single fck for me to give. And the final battle with skullface? boring, very very boring. easy to beat. it was not worth it and i got it for free with the delux edition. They should have done big dlcs like the following and only that. not another arena. i wouldnt have minded it if the dlc took a while to made. It started off pretty boring, there was a loading screen to go there instead of new locations that lead you to the arena. No character was worth it to listen to. The fact that you werent allowed to use your gear was bad. The arena "map" was bad, nothing to do around it or in it besides a shop and smith and arena shop and thats it. The building itself was just a walk road towards the guy that teleports you into the arena. and yea again focusing on humans not on zombies. IN A ZOMBIE GAME. My god i can keep going and going and going. maybe a 3 out of 10 for me. Like i said, its that i got it "for free" now. otherwise i wouldnt have wanted to buy it. I hope any new dlc will be much better. And this dlc again proved to me that they horribly messed up this game, it doesnt feel like dying light. I still go back to playing the first game and i like it more. That tells me enough. A second game in the series should be an improvement not a downgrade. i hope they will go more towards the first game again with the new dlc that will come and dying light 3 cause this aint it. the game needs a big rework in order for it to be even on the same level as dl1. and dont come at me with "yeah but that game had 7 years of updates". no thats not what you should be saying. what you should be saying is yeah dl1 had 7 years of updates AND THEY SHOULD HAVE LEARNED FROM IT. all QOL updates in dl1 should be in dl2 FROM THE START.
You know truthfully it's because the whole game sucks all of it sucks for the most part it has cool mechanics some cool mechanics but when the combat is this bad and the story was the worst thing ever with no replayability and when they wanted to say so many promises that they couldn't fulfill I don't think anybody's going to want to be involved with this COMPANY anymore people are starting to open their eyes and stop taking s*** from video game companies we'll just stop playing games
The whole game still feels like an early access to me, I honestly can't play it because I can't have fun with it. How can a sequel be so a downgrade to the first game? Yeah I know, I know, "the developers are good, wait a few years for the updates..." I don't care. First game was a blast even before the updates, right now I can't see a glimpse of hope. Waste of money, but even worse, waste of potential. I had more fun in dead island than this for god's sake.
You don't have to fail the fight with ciro u just need to avoid him and parry him a bunch I think there is a hidden timer that makes it so the cut scene triggers
Ill tell you the biggest problem about this game-DLC watching cutscenes over and over for 20 mins just to do a 10 min quest thats my take anyone else feel the same like don't get me wrong I enjoy the Parkour-Combat Physics other people think different for me tho its the damn cutscenes they take up 60 percent of this game and not enough actual mission time.
They need to make our storage BIGGER like the 1st DL game! You don't have enough room to store all the weapons, masks and outfits! Wish we had a survival round based dlc like Black Ops Zombies! Lets us gear up and see how many days we can survive!!!!!
Oh my god... I knew it...they did it. It was so painfully obvious who skullface was...I was so disappointed in this dlc it caused me to uninstall DL2. Yeah the area was nice, yes the variety of cosmetics were nice but the cosmetics had the same issue with being severally under leveled like in tje base game. And the way it basically forced you into these arena matches to continue the story just killed it for me. I was already unenthused with how it started then totally disinterested not even 1 hour in.Maybe when they inevitably release the complete edition I might come back but bloody ties killed it for me.
Lmfao dude the whole video was golden with the jokes. Also a little clarification for the Chiro spare you don’t actually have to die. You just have to survive for a while but the game doesn’t tell you that. They should’ve added a timer if they were gonna bust that shit out.
I don't think Techland understands what makes Dying Light good, or how to make the most of it. At first I thought the way they were asking for community feedback so much seemed like a great thing, but now I think they legitimately need community feedback because they're clueless, and the majority of community feedback is just "i want guns". Most players don't understand the Dying Light formula and what it needs to be a game you can play for years. I have zero fucking interest in a challenge simluator. Boss battles have NEVER been a Dying Light strong point, so doing that over and over is just a terrible idea. Boss battles are fun here and there but Dying Light at its best is when you're fully immersed, stealthing as much as possible in the open world to avoid dangerous fights and fighting when you HAVE to. This arena shit is the furthest thing from immersive. It makes the overall world feel even more fucking dumb if anything at all
When it came to the *_KILL OR SPARE_* Ciro scenario, I didn’t have to die to get that cutscene. I just had to avoid hitting him until the cutscene triggered.
Most disappointing game and dlc from the past 2-3 years. I have to say I am officially done with techland. They knew what they were doing, hence all the marketing publicity before the game released and look at the state of it even a year later! They said 5 years content and all there's been is time trials. The dlc is basically just time trials too. The dev's have ran the dying light franchise into the ground. If it weren't for Lawan and maybe Hakon I'd have to say the story and voice acting is on par with some of the worst games out there. This game's laughable and the director you've sat down with is to blame for all of this. Go back and listen to what he has to say it's all a bunch of hit or miss and when things go wrong they give us a free skin. What a joke! Love the content tho ONI and thanks for everything. It just sucks how much of a deep dark oblivion this game has fell into.
For me I’m playing on ps4 most of the time the textures don’t even load. When I also go to hit someone they’ll freeze it makes the game unplayable for me still
I felt like the dlc was ok the story could have been alot better I'm not sure why but for some reason I went into bloody ties expecting the dlc to change dying light 2's core combat like adding in takedowns drop attack skill etc and I was disappointed. But despite all of that I tried to enjoy it but the checkpoint bug where if I fail a challenge the timer stops infinitely ruined the experience for me tbh. I still beat the dlc but I had to restart my Xbox several times to do so.
It's no wonder this so-called DLC was included with the 'Deluxe Edition'... pffttt so ridiculous & lame as an incentive bonus for more $. Also, why why whyy do we as consumers/players/fans of the DL series gaf bout cosmetics??? Can we get some actual goddamn WORTHWHILE CONTENT for DL2!? Am I crazy, cuz this is far from it I 1000% don't look forward to or enjoy fighting humans MORE in a DLC. Jesus what a flop
I thought Kyle crane was the worst protagonist ever. Until Aiden entered the world. DL2 is NOTHING compared to DL1. DL1 was actually scary. This mess is just... Boring
It went woke....now going broke. Trees growing in rooves with no soil pfft....Why can't devs just keep the game as the first Dying Light, with perhaps graphical improvements etc..Why change the formula? why fix something that wasn't broken? Why inject wokeness? it sucks, it all sucks. Was is Warner Brothers who forced the changes? likely. I played DL for months and moths, perhaps even years, on several PC builds and consoles. DL is still one of my all time favourite games. At least we have Dead Island 2 coming soon, looks like they will regain the best zombie game award once again.
This dlc should have been free we need a dlc like Dying light the following not some Arena mode I like the game but without guns and you need 4 buildings to pk to get the pk crossbow and you don't keep it ind new game plus is just dumb yeah I like close combat but stil think Dying light 1 is more fun just because of the guns and the car
The main game is still broken I have volatiles running around in the day coming out of buildings broken parkour, clipping, graphical glitches everywhere, voice lines not playing, hits bot registering... most of the time I wonder what the hell the rules and mechanics are to the game and I'm over 20 hours in not s good look and I was super stoked for this game when it dropped to 20 bucks
Dying Light 2 is such a fail. I remember people mentioning this game w/ Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok as one of the big releases of 2022 and a potential game of the year contender. Techland fumbled every single aspect of the game and this lame dlc is no exception
The game is feels like they dont know what they are doing. Combine 4 different games but non off them completly fine. Remember we see first video about Colonel Mission and its feels like huge mission like Bloody Baron in Witcher 3 and its just like NPC we met. And all different mechanics in this game different than first game just happened once or twice.
I didn't like this game at all from the start and that's really sad because the first Dying Light is one of my all-time favorites they really dropped the ball making this game as an adult I hardly ever get excited for new games to be released but this was one game I was actually excited for very disappointing
I never completed the following DLC and maybe I'll go back and play that but I don't think I'll pick Dying Light two up again I played maybe 6 hours into it and uninstalled it just wasn't my cup of tea
@AnonHeX I really don't like that they replaced the skill tree with the equipment system, I don't think anyone asked for all that, same thing with far cry 6 they did the same thing with that game, there's games that have that system which I enjoy so it's not just that I don't like that, other than that I can't exactly put my finger on it, all I know is the first game is an experience that will stick with me forever and the second just isn't for some reason
I mean I tried to get back into this game, but it's just so boring. I LOVED the first game and have many hours playing it. I was SO hyped for this game, but as I continued to play it I became so bored. It feels like something is missing that made the first game so fun. I just can't bring myself to play this when there are so many more fun games out there. I hope that the next installment of this franchise is more fun.
Dying light 2's DLC broke my game im not even joking i had to restart and then i just got a sea of bugs and glitches that killed all the fun i had, i really hope they can fix it but, i don't see that happening sadly
I gotta say never been disappointed to play a dlc especially the trash ass outfits well besides the end outfit on the cover of the dlc but anyway I’m just disappointed by this shitty ass dlc now I’m more worried about what the next dlc will become
I haven't even played this DLC yet I don't want to and I have it for me it's just a waste of space I don't think that's a good thing I don't really want to reinstall the game because the gameplay is so bad in this DLC is shit
Legend levels should of been a priority before releasing bloody ties. There needs to be a reason outside of blueprint upgrading to continuously kill zombies and humans.
Whats going on is they failed this is one one the worse games the game is buggy and a mess again just never buy dying light 2 and play the first one its got more active players it's more fun
It wasn't bad. But it could be better. The truly disappointing thing would be if they just moved in now that the dlc is out. But I doubt that will happen because they usually don't forget about their dlc content
The problem with DL2 is that its just a Christmas tree. The (real) immersive setting of DL1 is long gone in favour of fantasy and craziness. DL2 is still good. But nowhere near DL1
