So sad when a musical talent such as Michel Legrand leaves this world. He will be remembered for his beautiful movie scores and romantic songs. I grew up listening to his music because my parents always listened to his work.
This song has such a beautiful but tragic memory for me...I had a boyfriend who was a couple of years older than me he had applied for the air force and never knew he got a letter of acceptance that day...and my family loved and adored him..I was only 16...one Saturday the phone rang and his mom called me to say he had died..he drowned my mom and aunt were in the kitchen when I screamed and told them what happened..I was so devastated..my mom already had Connie Francis playing on our stereo in the living room and this song was playing..I’ll never forget that and him rip Joe🙏🏻 So this song will forever remind me of him and that day...thank you for posting this rendition of that beautiful song I never heard it before
I am so sorry for your loss. I hope some other love brought you happiness…God knows and sees Your scars…I hope you have found joy in Him, for He cares for you…🌹🌹🌹
That is because, even an outstanding genius musician / writer like he was , could tell how outstanding her vocals are. I wish she had dubbed the voice for the movie, but perhaps her voice is too powerful and would have overshadowed the message ...
Legrand is such a genius. his songs are both accessible yet mysterious. deceptively simple and yet so hauntingly beautiful. i cannot even see where his mastery of technique begins because his works are so flawlessly made.
They appear to be simple you are right, but if you read the score, they are peppered with subtle and complex harmonies, sometimes with dissonances. The genius is to make it look so obvious and pure despite the delicate intellectual architecture behind it.
I saw Nana perform in person at Lincoln Center back in the 1980's, she was magnificent, especially singing with all those Greek string instruments. ❤❤❤😊😊😊
I wept the first time I heard this beautiful song from Michel Legrand. There have been tears in my eyes every time I've heard it since and, in these last four years, since losing my 'She', I have fallen to pieces but go on waiting.
The clock will tick away the hours one by one Then the time will come when all the waiting's done The time when you return and find me here and run Straight to my waiting arms If it takes forever I will wait for you For a thousand summers I will wait for you Till you're back beside me, till I'm holding you And forevermore I'll wait for you Anywhere you wander, anywhere you go Every day remember how I love you so In your heart believe what in my heart I know And forevermore I'll wait for you If it takes forever I will wait for you For a thousand summers I will wait for you Till you're back beside me, till I'm touching you And forevermore I'll wait fore you
I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it many years ago, and it's never lost its effect on me. I can't imagine this song being performed any better than this. A creative genius and two great talents offering a lasting gift to be treasured. Many thanks to them, and to this channel owner for making this video available.
I have been listening to Michel Legrand since I was 17 when my mom gave me one of her albums. The umbrellas of Cherbourg. Monsieur LeGrand is a special part of my life and is one of the most talented of our time. RIP Monsieur LeGrand. I’m so happy before you passed my dear mother met you in person.
Adieu Monsieur Legrand, merci de m'avoir si longtemps fait voyager... Vous laissez derrière vous de quoi se consoler, de grandes choses... et quelles belles choses !
Hauntingly beautiful. Les Parapluies de Cherbourgh is one of ny favourites. I love how There are no accual Choruses in The songs The just flow as a conversation.
Legrand was born in Paris to his father, Raymond Legrand, who was himself a conductor and composer, and his mother, Marcelle Ter-Mikaëlian, who was the sister of conductor Jacques Hélian.Raymond and Marcelle were married in 1929
