@MaggieRose444 real estate values and rent prices (as I'm sure you know) are very market/city specific. My sister in law was just telling me about small houses going for $2.2M in Northern Michigan by the lake 💰
@rocketbilly depending on where you are in the South, you could be seeing some relief soon. Places like FL, GA, TX, AZ (sunbelt) are seeing home prices soften. Especially New Homes. Keep an eye out for videos about this, this week
When i left my "final" apartment(to move into my own house) i cleaned everywhere top to bottom i swear it took hours...ive moved on the Monday but went back on the Tuesday to disconnect the phone only to find workers inside ripping EVERYTHING apart to renovate...all those hours cleaning wasted.
@@wildfire160and you just KNOW that if you hadn't cleaned, the landlord would've taken you for a ride. Despite intending to tear it all up anyway. Can't trust a landlord any further than you can throw them.
@@jojomang8333 LOL you are literally speaking truth ... In my previous flat when i moved in i asked the landlord if i could paint the walls because they were an awful colour and they said yes...when i left they tried to reduce my deposit because of the bad paint job BUT because of various reasons i NEVER actually repainted and the bad paintwork was the original awfully painted walls...after a "discussion" i got my full deposit
I appreciate the landlord for acknowledging the tenant's good deeds and behavior. It seemed like he was ethical and wanted a good experience for his tenant. Respect should go in both directions.
Yes! He probably also didn't moan every time the tenant made him aware of these kinds of issues with the home, making it easier for the tenant to communicate with him.
@@CindyJohnson-n8m Absolutely right! My husband was a Marine and he is like living with Felix Unger from the odd couple. 😂 We even paint when we leave. I bet you are the same way.-Terri Kendall ❤️
@@TheCREAMrealestate what makes you say that? Im in the PNW and i've seen upwards of $1100 for a single person studio, and that doesn't include any utilities lol. Theres no reason for rent rates to get lowered at all.
@P3z3r Unfortunately not PNW... but sunbelt states like FL, GA, TX, AZ are seeing prices soften. Also a lot of new construction of units is adding to the supply which will contribute to some price softening
He was an amazing tenant because by the sound of it you were an amazing landlord, always staying on top of every issue with the house is not something 90% of landlords do. You sir are a 1 in a million thank you for being a good landlord. We need more people like you.
He was a great tenant because you are a great landlord. It’s a two way street. Think of it as employment in a way. You look after them they will look after you..
My mom has an Air BnB. After this one lady left, she washed all the sheet, folded all the towels, vacuumed and mopped, and even left a dang chocolate on the pillows. Like who does that, God bless you Jennifer haha. My mom gave her a lifetime 30 percent discount whenever she wanted to come back.
I just left my place of 8 years. Raised my children here with the other families in the neighborhood. Paid my rent on time even during covid. The landlord has not one year failed to make it clear I did not matter at all. After the first year lease was over it went to a month to month. Laundry lists of things that were never fixed or addressed. Multiple rent increases even during covid. Now at the end they refuse to give me my deposit back minus the backyard clean up. I keep the place clean and furnished. Replaced anything we broke and alerted management of any major issues. What I got in return was neglect and now blatant violation of the law. This would be a perfect place for me now that the kids are gone. If that man stayed there 8 years, it must be peaceful enough to live. The price is just right even for a part time job. Thank you for being a good landlord and treating him fairly.
Sounds like your landlord is a piece of scum. It is so frustrating when you do the right thing and you get treated like a person, that doesn't matter. 😢
We just came out of a 7 year lease and had the same sort of landlord. We got no deposit back even after keeping the place up. They tried to charge us for the blinds which were broken when we moved in and I had to prove it to them (which I did) so they at least took THAT off, but they actually charged me because not all of the lightbulbs were the same BRAND. I'm not even joking. Crap like that makes me never want to rent from a "corporate" entity again!
I have a wonderful landlord. He charges us $575/month for a 3 bedroom 1 bath remodeled house, with a full basement large yard and it's less than a mile away from the school. When COVID was big, he worked with us. Now that I'm injured and dealing with work comp, he has been wonderful, and very understanding. Sometimes I can be a few days late with rent, but he's cool with it, because of my circumstances. Anytime we've had an issue, he's been there. It's hard to find good tenants and it's hard to find a good landlord, and we've been blessed.
I fuckign pay $1750 plus $720 so nearly $2500 not including utilities, for a 600 sq ft tin can , broken not updated. Carpets ripped up and paint splatters when I moved in. Broken oven, fridge not working correctly, CO2 'failure', central air that sounds like you're in the last row of a small loud aircraft. For reference, I make $2000 a month. I yet again, will not be able to pay rent this month I can never , ever get a break. Just me and my 9 year old.
I had the best landlord for over 6 years. To repay him for all his kindness, I knew when we moved he wanted the carpet replaced because it was very old. Two weeks before moving out we repainted everything white, cleaned it from top to bottom and ripped up the old carpet for him. He was so happy.
There's so many people out there who would be THRILLED to pay $600 and would be the perfect tenant. On the other hand, there's those who would take a $600 apartment and have no appreciation for it whatsoever and this landlord would have a disaster on his hands.
@@TheCREAMrealestate The two times I've rented out my personal properties were a nightmare. Never again. The two times I've actually been a renter, the first landlord commented on how nice we left the place (paid for six months up front, moved in with nine cats - found homes for the kittens and were down to three cats when we moved out - but we re-plumbed the entire house for the landlord) and the commercial renting we ended up suing them for our deposit back and won. Home ownership is the only way for me.
@@TheCREAMrealestatehere in NC about an hour NW of Charlotte . Every house that comes up for sale ,companies like Blackrock come in and buy them and rent them out for like $2000.00 a month. My FIL said every house in his community that has come up for sale since 2020 was bought by a company.
I am that type of tenant but current landlord is toxic and don’t deserve me so breaking the 5th year lease. Thanks for posting about relationship appreciation wish it always went both ways.
@@stacyjaye6350sometimes it’s better to. You don’t know what their situation is. They could be feeling unsafe or feel harassed by their landlord. No amount of $$$ is worth it for the mind games and poor mental health.
I rented houses and apartments for almost 20 years and I left every rental property in better condition than I received it! I pride myself on being an excellent tenant.
All my childhood we rented numerous places. We cleaned before & after moving. And mom would get the landlord to buy paint & we’d paint the interior before moving in. I’m 72 & truly sick of the growing disrespect & trashy ppl in our country.
you should probably start by directing that energy to the landlords who take advantage of their tenants. yes there are bad tenants, but overwhelmingly there are mainly bad landlords
It's easy to get sick of the people, but the people are just responding to the sickness of the system. Wages have been stagnant for decades, unions were decapitated, and artificial inflation has allowed big corporations to rake in record profits. When people have zero prospects and exhausting, boring jobs, they will end up nasty and disaffected.
As a former landlord I respect this tenant so much, and the landlord expressing his thankfulness for a good tenant. There are a lot of good landlords and tenants. Respect to both of you.
My husband and I owned 8 apartments. In the 20 years of being landlords, we had one guy we barely had any issues with. He was the only one who got their deposit back. Other renters, I spent hours cleaning the kitchen alone. Stove, refrigerator, ugh!!! My husband did the rest. We were good landlords compared to other property owners and who managed them. I heard horror stories about the management. We sent out a reminder 2xs a year to please let us know if you have any issues. We will be there to fix anything for you. We depended on them to let us know. And they didn't have to wait either. We had 4 renters that literally stayed the full 20 years. When we sold the property, it was not long those tenants moved out. It works both ways. A win - win. People just don't have morals and values anymore.
My husband & I rented a 4 bedroom house with 1 bathroom in the country @ $150 a month for 10 years. Our landlord was an exceptional landlord to us. We were very good tenants too. We took care of the place ourselves unless it was a major issue.
I like that you appreciate when your tenants let you know about issues because you know it could be preventing a larger issue and is saving you money in the long run. My landlord is the opposite. She ignores problems for decades and then ups the rent when things actually have to be replaced because she ignored the maintaining part.
Some people turn out great in spite of their parents 😂 you can't just thanks the parents. Teachers, friends, aunts and uncles and so many others shape people as well. We should thank the adults, if not their peers. But at the end of the day it's thanks to the person, not who made them.
My landlord raised rent by $25. for everyone but me because I take care of my home, the hall, and help with the outside growing veggies and flowers while someone else cuts grass. I'm blessed to have her and my apt, $575. which includes all utilities & trash and about the same size as this one but my bedroom is twice it's size. It has it's issues but nothing I can't live with. God is good and like I said I feel blessed. TY for keeping things reasonable for good folks.

For some reason I really liked this story. I'm glad you said something about telling the Landlord about problems. I never thought of it that way. I guess I've only had people who DONT want you to bug them with problems. Thx
I’ve had my same tenants for 12 years. They take such amazing care of my property. I’ve raised rent once in 12 years. Good tenants are like guaranteed money in the bank each month. Whatever they need I take care of immediately.
We were a family of seven, five children, two parents. We rented my whole Young Life. Every time we moved, we left the places better than we found them, as it should be. Thank you for honoring your wonderful Tennant❤❤❤
we were like this to our landlords and kept our apartments in immaculate condition yet they still took $200 out of our bond money. I don't like landlords.
@ilkc100 there are bad apples in every bunch but not all landlords are greedy. You call it "bond" , in USA we call it "Deposit". What country are you in?
There's more that are than are not...easy to spund like a good guy when your trying to get people to watch your vids. Let's post videos with your tenants and see how you really are...

I am much like this guy, my previous landlord (I rented direct not through any agents) love me so much that they will pop in every month to give some fruit baskets and food coupons. Then I have to move and rented an apartment through a housing agent and at the end of the contract when they did their inspection he said jokingly “did you actually live here all this time? There is not a spec of smudge on the wall and on the kitchen cabinets. I’ve never gotten a house back so clean before this.” And I actually got my full deposit back 😄
Tenants only overlook that because they are used to slum lords. Make it clear before they move in that you want your property kept up and are happy to do repairs before they are emergencies. Oh, and that you won't evict them due to normal wear and tear.
We had a family that left the house better than when we rented to them. They lived there 10 years. We never increased their rent and never bugs them, no issues with neighbors. Great family from Honduras
I left an apartment just like this. Actually, better than I found it. It was just me and my trained, housebroken lap dog. When I left they refused to return my deposit, claimed that I had not paid for the monthly pet fee, and some other miscellaneous charges. Litigation would have cost more than the "fees" I supposedly owed. I prayed for the owners and managers. Within a year, I saw a neighbor who still lived there, the managers have quit, apartments were sold, & they can't keep maintenance staff or tenants. My praise was that God will fight my battles. Psalm 124. Amen
Last time i did this they still kept my deposit... I've learned to not go above and beyond anymore... i wont leave a mess or in bad shape. But never above and beyond again.
@punchabunchofbuttons214 some people are greedy. An old landlord I used to rent from kept my deposit for holes in the wall from hanging pictures. That's B.S!
@@TheCREAMrealestate yeah, I filled all those in. Bought matching paint and even touched everything up. I even left them my nest thermostat cause while I was living there theirs broke. So instead of making a big deal out of it I just bought an upgrade so I wouldn't be a bother. I rented a dumpster so when I moved so there wouldn't even be any trash in front of the house. I had lived there for 7 years. I thought me and the landlord had respected eachother but I was sadly wrong. Used the lint in the dryer duct as an excuse to keep my deposit even though that's a landlord maintenance issue. I just didn't want to miss work and go to civil court.
@@punchabunchofbuttons214 you should have fought for your money. A deposit is a lot of money. It’s mandatory for a landlord to have it in writing what they’re taking out of your deposit or keeping your deposit for. “Dryer still had lint in it” would have been a laughable excuse in court.
This is how my mom was. She super deep-cleaned the entire unit every 6 months, did most of her own maintenance, and even helped with maintenance and move-in prep for other units. The landlords were always so happy with her!
Of course they were- she helped them make an even bigger profit by paying rent and doing the labor of maintenance too! I pray that someday people will realize landlords shouldn't exist. Housing shouldn't be a market, there are alternatives where people in a society who would be landlords are instead productive members of society like maintenance workers- or any other job that provides value to people without just being a method of holding homes hostage.
I felt so bad when I moved out of my first apartment after the military. Due to ptsd I couldnt sleep unless the bed was against a wall. I used to lash out in my sleep and put so many damn holes in that wall. I explained it to him and he bought the stuff to fix it and I ended up buying new drywall and painting the room before I left so he wouldn't have to. Love that guy, he gave me a chance eith shit credit and even when I was late with the rent he was flexible. He was an old vet too and any time he had to raise the rent he would take half of the new cost and set it aside. When I moved out he gave it to me and told me to put it towards my first house. Good landlords are a rare thing and I'm guessing good tenants are too
I just sold my rental properties after being a landlord for 35 years. This is exactly the kind of tenant landlords dream of. Glad you had a good experience with them!
I wish every property manager was this attentive to their tenants needs. Most landlords practically hafta be threatened to fix important things, and then only do the barest minimum to address them, often needing to be fixed again. Good on you for breaking the mold.
An amazing tenant is one who takes care of things when they happen, or before they happen because they care about where they live!! You were so lucky!!!
Very nice that you shared a positive outcome! Life is wonderful when we have something to appreciate. I was a landlord/tenant sharing my rented five-bedroom home with an amazing cast of characters. Ah the memories... 😅😮😢😮😅
Will if you look after your tenants they will definitely look after you treat your property as though they own it,thank you for being a wonderful landlord you are amazing obviously ❤❤❤❤well done
Before I purchased my own house, when I rented I ALWAYS made sure that when moving out of a place I rented it wasn't negotiable, every pla e I vacated was so spotless that getting professional cleaners wast necessary at all. And every Landlord was always very grateful.
My niece has left every home she has rented in this condition but still got treated poorly by landlords. As soon as she reported a repair, they would hike up the rent. Very disapointed by the attiude and greed of some landlords. There are poor tenants but landlords should hang on to the good ones and treat them well.
Great to have a landlord that is conscious of unusual problems in his investment, dealing with them is actually a savings in the cost for repairs down the road. Mold you can't rent and most expensive to remediate.
I was surprised that cleaning your vacated apartment is not the norm. I was taught that you leave your old apartment in the same condition you found it on move in day.
I wish every landlord actually took care of the homes they rent and weren’t slumlords. We don’t have a housing authority/code enforcement unless it’s in town limits, yet if they were to actually give a fuck we probably would’ve been able to get on paper that this place is a hazard to live in (electrical hasn’t been updated since the 90’s and we have a 140 amp for the whole house yet the landlord installed an AC that should be on a 220 alone, we have pipes break every year during winter because we can’t afford the $500 coverings (and we shouldn’t have to, the landlord should have properly sealed and insulated the underside of the house/pipes to prevent this, we have mold that keeps soaking through the paint, our fooors weren’t laid properly and so theirs giant gaps in it where you can see the earth beneath, the landlord took almost a year to fix the roof tiles which cause a bunch of our storage and electronics in the kitchen to be damaged that we had to replace and we told the landlord we wouldn’t have the money due to our damaged microwave and oven sensor (fried them both overnight when a bad storm passed through, second time this happened), both our back and front porch aren’t attached to the house and I’ve almost broken my ankle stepping on molded through boards) and worst of all is the pest problem. The tenants next door moved and left their fridge filled with food and a bunch of crap they didn’t want to take to their new place, but the landlord still hasn’t cleaned it and it has been MONTHS. We legit have found lines of cockroaches marching between the house foundations, it was so fucking gross, yet the landlord won’t do anything about it(and won’t acknowledge that we have to spend over 80/month just to keep them out of our fridge and cupboards. I wouldn’t have cared as much but I’ve been stuck here so long because of the constant stuff (clothes, food, appliances, etc) I have to replace just to make the place safer for my toddler, and that’s in top of basic . It’s ridiculous that people can rent places out without having to do proper inspections and maintaince.
Why not find another apartment ? As long as someone actually rent it, the owner wont do anything. But then again, apartsments like your telling about,is often with a cheap rent, too. Its also a big diffetence in price, according to if its in the middle of a town, outside town, and over all,the placement. I would rather "live cheaper"/cut my foid items(often one can change A LOT , when one try to live cheaper. Stop soda ,sugars, candy, cakes, meat, half prep dinners/micro food ,aso . Make all food from start/scratch. Mo half made or pre made, pre washed and all those items). I have also sold my car , cars are often very expensive. Because i rent close to my job. I could put more in the rent. I also have a growing "fond for buying a property myself", in the future. Im turning every dime, but one CAN save on the wrong things, and get growing issues... Im not from america. I notice american's in general, think the echonomy is all about american politic. Its not . The world echonomy is struggeling, and we all get to feel it. A lot. I will be better, tho. If not any more wars, off course...But im not feeling safe. Im scared about some country's stand in those matters. A next war might include us all.
$600 one-bedroom one-bath with water included, where is this? I live in Southern California and you can't get something like this for under $1,600 minimum
i don't know where all the $600 rentals are ... there is a landlord racket that the government is looking into because landlords are using software to determine price and I hear that they use Silicon Valley rent as the standard nationwide....
Our landlord threw a tantrum any time something broke, and often tried to get us to pay for it, like our heat going out (which was revealed to be caused by someone using the wrong gauge of wire and they eventually got super hot and broke, might have caused a fire), our water heater springing a leak (he whined we took too many baths, there were two showers taken daily), the ancient stove couldn't cook a pizza, the fridge died, and the sink leaked even though he "fixed" it himself three times. We stopped telling that dumbass that the sink was leaking and just put a bucket under the sink and tried to remember to empty it frequently. I know a friend who his landlord refused to renew his lease because he's been reporting all the maintenance and safety issues to the owners, and the property manager hates him. So they're shooting the messenger instead of going nuts at the property manager and various maintenance workers for not doing their jobs.
It’s because he’s considered what they call a whistle blower and landlords hate those…tell him to look into the state attorney generals office for protection from retaliation from the company he’s renting from and is getting kicked out by….this kind of happened to me…it wasn’t that I complained about broken things but rather I asked for an explaination why only my rent kept going up now that I was a month to month lease….and the railroader next door was still paying the low amount that was their rent amount from over a decade ago when the buildings were built solely for low income families and not railroaders who can afford to pay rent or a mortgage in their designated income brackets and communities of similar professions living there…my rent was going up over $100/month…well….she started having her wealthy friends that were living in these low income duplexes harass me and vandalize my vehicle…the last straw was when they went after my son with false reports trying to get him arrested because I wouldn’t play their game…they pissed me off doing that….so I let the hammer of god come down in that landlady and the company she worked for….i had to contact the state attorney generals office equal opportunity commission for housing to be able to get my name of the blacklist in my state…they had made it impossible for me to find a different place to live…cost me a lot of money trying to find someplace too…these people are lunatics….dont let them get the upper hand by retaliating and blacklisting…
