In the east, Infinix is like a massive brand, especially for phones here in Africa. Low prices for pretty good specs. Kinda weird to see ShortCircuit talking about them but happy for them too!
Infinix is on a massive trend this year here in the Philippines too, they just offer better specs at a better price. Though their OS and Camera ain't great compared to phones with similar price tag.
Infinix is a child company of Transsion Holdings from China, the brands Infinix, Tecno, and itel come from them and they all make phones that are extremely popular in Asian and African budget gadget markets. TH also owns the accessories company Oraimo iirc. I'm from Nigeria and my phone is actually a Tecno one. This is their first laptop as far as I know, and if I know anything about them, they wouldn't be making the most balls to the wall system on the market by any stretch of the imagination. Palmstore is an app that comes preinstalled on every TH phone, so I'm sure they made it too btw Edit: I'm sure they're planning to break into the western market next, if they approached you guys
YAY more chinese junk.... i mean, i'm looking forward to more competition. in all honesty it's not a bad laptop from the looks of it. but i've had a few chinese devices that haven't been up to the quality standards that i want from them. but that's besides the point.
Currently in Tanzania for 4 weeks and this brand is everywhere, every street corner has logo banners. Interesting to see their products are pretty decent!
Nice am actually Tanzanian, Its a Chinese brand and they are everywhere because they provide extreme low budget ,products to the African market which searches for cheap and budget friendly options products and they take advantage of that of that. Some of their mid range products is great too compared to what you would pay for in the West
Ah most have a good power management in software, but limiting on hardware and that without will be the first that brakes on that thingy y would put it at max wia hard wire
I want more switches/buttons in general, and not just on laptops. Quick physical controls are always a nice thing to have to save time and frustration. The bixby button on Galaxy phones was really nice once rebound to a function of my choice for example. People shat on it because at first it couldn't be rebound officially but having a rebindable button is so useful. Give me 4!
Meanwhile companies like Lenovo and HP actively lock down your TDP and prevent you from changing it even with tools like AATU. Why would I buy a Ryzen 6800H if it never hits 45W?
Bro is saying this as if ltt is from south africa😂 bro they from canada, they dont get more advertisements than you, infinix doesnt exist in america like the whole
Infinix is actually quite popular in the Philippines (and I guess, Asia) with their budget friendly phones. This is the first time I've seen a laptop from them, though.
Given how often you guys have foreign products in your videos, I'm surprised you haven't got wall-socket plug adapters of any kind. Whenever I go traveling, I always bring one with me, there are ones that have 3+ different plugs for wall-sockets out there.
@@kianhaynes23 my work gives us discrete GPU laptops that are a nuisance. I use Linux so the driver setup becomes more of a headache, the battery life is worse and it's heavier for honestly not that much performance gain over a decent iGPU.
Lenovo offer(s/ed) the p1 with an i7 and could be configured with no dgpu. It would be in the same class as the dell precision/xps. I feel you I looked hard for an h class system with a 16:10 display. Its slim pickings in the north american market if you want anything more powerful than an i5 and no dgpu.
3:02 that button is actually pretty neat. Sometimes you just don’t want the thing to go full bore with alle the bells and whistles and just need it to last through the day. Instead of using the stupid windows options you can just simply turn it down a notch or two. Nice one!
We've actually had Infinix laptops here for almost a year now in Indonesia, they're actually very fantastic and super competitive in the mid - low end market with their Infinix In-book X1, their only downside is not having a 16gb ram option and only 8gb max.
The specs look cool, especially for the price, but the soldered RAM is a big no no. Even if 8 or 16 gigs is good now, it won't be in a few years. Like c'mon, the laptop is thick enough, it could accommodate a SO-DIMM slot just fine. :D
I find it really funny that with all the stuff you have lying around at LTT, you cannot even find a EU to US power plug adapter... I always carry a multistandard adapter in my backpack; the same since 15 years and it costed me less than a LTT bottle ;-)
Thats the socket we use here in Norway! if you guys at LTT want to try out a really long and expensive shipping process i'll be more than happy to take it off your hands😁
With all the years testing tech devices, i do not believe that LTT media don't have an universal adapter to plug the "original" charger and minimize issues. Good video as always guys & ladies i have that same model, cost me around 1200-1300 us$. Not the best laptop but for what i use it, do his job in a pretty good way.
I'm curious about the "legality", but I'm also positive there has to be some type of wall-outlet company that can convert NA power standards to EU power standards so EU power bricks could work in NA. There's absolutely no technical reason you couldn't have the power converter hidden in the wall outlet.
@@InfernosReaper Yeah, I get that. But I was curious if any companies made wall outlets with the same functionality. It'd probably be against most building codes so I can't see much of a market.
Best trackpad setup for me was always, click anywhere on it is a left click, double finger tap gesture for right click. Triple finger tap for Middle Mouse button. Never saw the use for left and right sides of a trackpad doing separate things, consistency is faster IMO.
This!! This is why I loved using macs compared to Windows machines back in the earlier days of the widows side of devices getting rid of the physical buttons and going full trackpad.
It's so good to see a separate full-size Home/End/PgUp/PgDwn bar. It does not take up a lot of space, and it could easily fit into even smaller laptops, but there's absolutely no reason not to have it in any 15"+ laptop. The wattage switch is also awesome.
Testing SSDs is much more involved than running Crystal Disk Mark, and it is time-consuming, and the worse the SSD, the more time it takes. For Short Circuit it's not worth the added hour or two.
As long as it's NVME it will be fast, fast enough for most tasks, you don't really notice big differences in your day to day tasks, and if you do, that mean you're stressing your drives and they'll die quickly.
@@XDSDDLord short-circuit is about first impression then do a crystal disk test and also do a file copy test from external SSD to internal one or other way around. Or copy something's within internal ssd. The shooting may take half an hour more but in video it's just 2-3 min. Of content to be added. This can only happen if they have their tests/tools ready during shooting. Also the cinebench test, they should keep a universal adaptor if they are going to check laptops from other countries. These are the small things that matter.
Cross country chargers before using they need to be tested or else sometimes it might not charge or worse it will burn ur circuit board (there might be surge protection but safety first) and ln Asterix they mentioned even with included change same output
@@raginginferno868 I recall enough times of a device coming with a non-NA charger that they can justify an adapter so they can use everything the manufacturer provided.
MechRevo is another brand that I've had a good experience with, currently using an Air S2 with a 4600H and 16gbs of ram. Cost me less than 600USD brand new in China.
This is literally a Huawei Matebook 16 chassis. Keyboard, trackpad, power button, speakers, airflow grids placements (under & behind hinge), the screen black contour with same logo placement. Except for the custom backscreen and the side ports it feels like a rebrand (Edit: or maybe same chassis manufacturer). Another difference is the screen is 16:9 instead of 3:2 on matebook that mean they have the webcam above the screen instead of IN the keyboard. It would be interesting to see a test on some of the matebooks as they are often on the cheaper side (at least in europe). Althought I understand the distrust of the brand in north america.
LTT does not have a skross pro addapter in their tech temple? maybe have a look at them, they are a life saver when travelling (with devices that support 110-240V).
Good to see the Infinix brand receive gey recognized and recommended. They are a competitive alternates from branded smartphones, with prices for the masses
infinix is genius... we asians (specially subcontinental) people definitely know about infinix... infinix realised we all the watch famous tech-tube channels like linus or mkbhd and others, so they reached out to you guys... gets huge views also creates interest in north-american market as well... (most youtubers in this region are popular at national level, not international, reaching out to you guys covers all the asian countries at once)
He recently stopped using the Dell because Windows Modern standby is bad and went to a MacBook. You can hear his explanation at the timestamp of this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OHKKcd3sx2c.html
Actually Alex moved to a MacBook (not sure if moved back) because of his frustration with Microsoft Windows modern standby (do a youtube search for: "modern standby LinusTechTips for details)
Speaking of Wifi troubles…remember when notebooks had **modular** wifi and Bluetooth chips? And you could upgrade them? I’ve got a Dell XPS from like 10 years ago and it’s now got wifi 6E. Pretty cool!
Honestly, what would you rather do: spend hundreds of thousands or even millions on a "consultant" that will effectively drain your wallet and quite possibly leave you with no hard conclusions, or sponsor someone with the reach of LMG and not only get feedback from them in the video itself, but extremely varied and REAL comments, analysis, criticism, and sentiment from actual viewers and buyers that both do and don't use your products? It's literally a no-brainer. And it's WAY cheaper than a full ad campaign.
Yo, I understand that here in Mexico we usually don't have the resources to purchase tech as US and Canada but just letting you know, Mexico is part of North America. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_America (1:08)
Infinix, Tecno, Realme/Oppo/Vivo, all these brands nobody know about, but they are killer. I remember having a Tecno Camon smartphone in hand for a couple of minutes, spec wise wasn't too big, but its 5X optical zoom made me take pictures that would be impossible without zoom, and at an insanely low price.
Both of them (Except Tecno) is very popular in the Philippines, most people here can see that they are using this device as they have a promising specs but in insanely low price. Realme is very popular for gamers, Infinix, Vivo and Oppo is popular because of Camera specifications.
Edit 7:52 is the answer, thanks Hastech. Question, did you use the ECO setting for the CPU during the benchmark? And during the gameplay? Should have been more clear I feel like .
Infinix is quite popular here in Asia I see lots of people in my school who uses it... atleast when i try to use wifi i see like atleast 10 infinix phones... their phones are pretty good for price to performance
They are quite popular in my country because of their phones. Their phones have low prices with solid specs but the main issue I have with them is the amount of bloatware and ads in their UI. I used to own one of their phones.
yeah i own the infinix zero 5g i alr got rid of the ads in the first day by turning off notifications from their bloat ware apps or deleted them if i could still awesome prices tho
Is an i9 really worth it in a laptop like this? I feel like an i7 would perform just as well. I mean I get an 18000 cinebench score with 12700k since my laptop has a better cooling solution.
12900H offers almost nothing over the 12800H, I downgraded my work laptop for more RAM instead for that reason. The 127 misses some features compared to the 128 however.
Pretty big in my country. I have infinix as my main phone and so far pretty good impression. Only the software sometime little bit buggy if it got an update.
90 Watt battery is quite minimum for i9 and if you get 2 hours you will be happy and who do you think will slide to eco mode , yet my bat is 240 Watt for i9
The Tuxedo Pulse 15 Gen 2 has a Ryzen 5700U and a 91Wh battery that should easily do 10h+ of light usage on battery. Tuxedo also has an InfinityBook Pro 14 Gen 7 w/ an i7-12700H w/ a 99Wh battery (the Schenker Vision 14 and Slimbook Executive 14 are basically the same laptop). It's possible to have decent battery life w/ Intel if you tweak with power limiting (eg, lowering power limits, adjusting EPP), but in general, recent Ryzen mobile chips tend to be a lot more power efficient.
@lhl yeah, but you spend more time until tasks are done, so y won't really recommend battery saver profiles on intel machines is not realistic core i 9 is not core i7 y know cause y have core i9 machine and 50 watt tdp is iddle no programs opened you have to add the gpu also on servers you might actually acive 4 hours of battery live y mean server os cause you can enable only what you need, but the license prices, 😉 no kidding 91 watt/hour is minimal for i9 people complaining with 100 watt/hour batteries intel cpus have parallel computation like a gpu card amd are serial cpus support more power management but the erro rate is way up compared to intel
the keyboard/touchpad (top case) looks like a 2012 Macbook Pro, even the front cut-out to open the top is the same shape, the power button position, and the design and look of the speakers at the sides, even the hinge and screen bezel design matches... Hmmmm..... Also, the bottom (with addition of the grilles), the screw positions (almost exactly the same) and even the internal layout is VERY similar! :O
I know it's feel like too much to ask for this, for but"premium" laptop starting at $1000, which the top model equipped with high tier mobile CPU with no dGPU that doesn't have even a single thunderbolt 3/4 is kind a bummer and waste of unused PCIe lane, hope they can revise that in the future models.
I would like to see Cities Skylines benchmarked on laptops as that seems to be incredibly reliant on good CPU and RAM. My M1 macbook only gets 30 fps at 1080p lol
It would be geat to see Benchmarks on windows devices without them being plugged in. The drop off in Performance is sometimes, especially compared to Apple Silicon, quiet high.
I'm actually glad that for once a US/Canada based RU-vidr didn't just go ahead and assume they know everything about all markets and say "For this price, this is the best, just go buy it!". Because the PPP and thereby the prices can be extremely different in different countries. Obviously a lot of people from India are watching this video giving Infinix an opportunity to boost sales, this also gives them the opportunity to be introduced to Western consumers, so it is ethically the right thing for ShortCircuit to give an overview of the pros and cons of the product but be upfront about the fact you can't really say if this product is indeed as good a value of money for the actual target audience or not because that is not the market you primarily operate in. As an Indian, this video gave me enough idea about how good or bad the product is in the view of a team that has hands-on experience with a lot of high-end products but also cautioned me enough about not blindly fit everything you say to the product because ultimately the competition to this product in India may be very different than what you see in US/Canada.
Infinix is best known for their smart phones here in Africa. The Xero book seems like a solid laptop and even more amazing is having you folks cover it!
Aaaaalright baby!! Now we are talking. I bought the Infinix X1 slim laptop 6 months ago. i3 10th gen, 256gb m.2 ssd, 8 gigs of ram, full hd ips display, type c charging and just 1.24 kgs of weight. All in 360 dollars. I absolutely love this machine. I am a law student and it does everything i want.
The hardware power/performance mode switch is sick. I'd actually be interested in these if they sold them in North America. Seems like a surprisingly solid device.
Another laptop joins the game! I just see little use of one that you can't replace everything on. I like to upgrade the motherboard after many years for budget reasons so call me if you know how to build a laptop from desktop parts.
Infinix is a pretty new brand in south east asia (indonesia) but they managed to sell the best budget laptop by a wide margin. Their inbook X1 & X2 come with a great screen, metal body, 8/512GB and an i5 for ~450. Nobody here even comes close in terms of value
That cpu power limiting switch is the best thing ever on laptop. But afcorse you need to have adequate cooling, but throttling down some 25 w CPUs is mind boggling. Have an option to throttle for light office work or unleashing full power of 25watt would be also apriciated. I don't understand that.
The problem with Modern Standby is that it doesn't immediately and permanently shut off the fans as soon as it goes into standby. When you put it in a bag, the fans spin but don't blow, make heat, get turned up more, make more heat, get turned up more... yeah, then you have a hot, dead laptop.
In the Philippines, Infinix is also here, idk (sorry if it's incorrect) but it's lagging behind dominant Android Phone brands Oppo, Vivo, Realme, Xiaomi, Poco and Samsung. It is actually nice that Infinix are having exposure in North America.
Is it just me or does it look like the red RGB only lit up when he switched to "overboost" ... if so, it's a nice visual reminder that you're in high power setting.
yes i think there is no laptop selling in India for this prize range and the spec. You can get a gaming laptop with I5 and 3050 so there is no i9 or r9 in this prize range. the cheapest one with a i9 is Acer Helios I9 11th gen and 3060 for 1500$
In India it's not much. ! Idk why OnePlus, Xiaomi and realme rule the young generation Market Market (which is Majority in India) And old peoples mostly prefer oppo Vivo And some times a Indian brand ! Infinix is so rare to see ! Here they are not competitive at all ! Sadly they fall behind other brands ! Lots of other company's also there so it's hard for them! Here ! Total 120 mobile company's active in India!
@@i_Kruti yeah but infinix also play in low affordable phones category that's why i said there names. ! OnePlus also now launched lots of under phones too ! It was before mid range flagship!
It's usually the other way around with things not being available in other parts of the world, so it may be good for you people to experience the other side of the spectrum once in a while, to appreciate what you already have gainef without effort and also understand thr situation of people in other parts of the world and be more humble at the very least.
