I Wish I Knew This Before Buying The Ineos Grenadier...

Picked up my Grenadier up March 7th. Have 2K miles on it. It's an incredible vehicle. Nice as a daily driver, fantastic off road. Someone just took a similar if not identical stock Grenadier to yours and ran the Baja 1000 start to finish with zero mods. Same spec as my Grenadier and Shale Blue too, like mine and yours. Sir Jim Racliffe, who conceived the Grenadier because of his love affair with the original Land Rover 110's has done a great job. He went to Magna Steyr in Austria, (who engineered and builds the Mercedes G-Wagon), to engineer and design the Grenadier. It's built more robust then the G-Wagon. This vehicle is designed to last 25 years. Jump on in, the waters fine.

My local dealer has about 20 Grenadiers sitting on the lot ready for customers. I wanted to dislike it, but checking it out IRL... they are awesome. For the price that dealers are asking for the new Toyota LandCruiser - with a four cylinder engine, street tires and 8 inches of ground clearance... you can buy a Grenadier. Crazy.

I do wish Jim Ratcliffe well with the sale of this stunning vehicle. Jim is the Brit who decided LANDROVER MADE A HUGE MISTAKE STOPPING PRODUCTION OF THE FAMOUS LANDROVER ......the only proper land rover. So he said....ok I will build them and build them better. Jims HQ in England in in my home town in Cheshire UK....I am not connected.....but I am a HUGE PROPPER LANDROVER FAN. Bought mine new in 1975 when I was 23.....I still run that landrover today I am now 71. So Ben.....I hope you get as much fun from your Grenadiers as I have from my 1975 Series 3 88" or SWB Landrover. Nick a UK fan.

The reason why they didnt go direct like Tesla or Rivian. The laws in US are antiquated and Electric car manufactuers were able to bypass the law of dealerships because the law was written for ICE. Ineos could have fought it but it would have taken 5 years and lot of cash to have goverment say yea no. So hence the dealer network was created.

If you decide you want to upgrade the steering stabilizer, we're the place to go! We totally understand the choice fatigue, but find it fascinating seeing how creative people get! We look forward to seeing if you do any DIY mods.

Was skeptical when you first purchased but since have seen other vids on it where they were going through the under carriage and that is a high quality piece of kit. Good on you. 👍

The biggest obstacle in my opinion is the distance to the dealership network if you do not live within a reasonable distance of a dealership.

My late Father used to say never be the first to try out a new thing. Wait and see if anyone dies from it. Also Ben you are young enough not to remember how cars were ordered back in ancient times. Some packages were available but a lot of items were an individual option. And color choices were widely available. From what you say it seems like these folks are returning to that a bit.

Magna is a Canadian based company with plants worldwide gentleman named Frank Stronach started the manufacturing company years ago specializing in car parts and now cars themselves, thanks for the elucidation I did not know they made the Grenadier

these things are super cool and I know magna is a great UK off road company. They use alot of the parts magna makes over seas to go wheelin and stuff. Also the engine has a great track record

I like it , it looks cool and has gotten many good reviews. But to me it’s like the new Toyotas there going to have issues when they first come out with a new platform. Wait a year or two then revisit it and see how it’s doing . I hope it works out for both companies. Cant wait to see your continued reviews on it , thanks for sharing.

In Europe, for alleged pedestrian safety reasons, Alfa Romeo is no longer allowed to fit an off centre front licence plate. Yet you can drive around with a winch on the front. What a weird world we live in.

The options , both factory fitted and dealer supplied/fitted are clearly defined in the configurator.

The parts selection is great ! that’s an exciting vehicle.

The looks of the vehicle and the off-road features are awesome! For those that are interested, please comment on #1. The completely different feel in the steering characteristics (Not self-centering and a lot of play in the wheel to affect vehicle steering. Great for rough conditions off-road. Strange and unnatural for normal highway driving). #2. No lumbar seat adjustment (Even in the highest trim levels). #3. The brake and accelerator pedals are pushed far left of normal placement (Due to the large center console hump). While depressing the brake pedal with your right foot in a normal brake placement position, your foot rides on the far right edge of the large brake pedal. -I wanted to love everything about this vehicle. Please evaluate these things before you purchase. A 10-minute test drive will confirm or deny my observations. Good Luck!

Beautiful car and paying cash for cars makes all the difference. Back in the day, I drove a lot of beaters because I didn't have the $$ to buy new. Eventually worked my finances up to being able to buy new outright. And I have been there ever since. Like this car, I wonder if the new Land Cruiser will be a category killer. I'm kind of expecting that, but we will see. 3 reasons I would choose the new Land Cruiser. 1. Toyota quality. 2. Available parts and service network. 3. Afftermarket parts. New Land Cruiser will have huge aftermarket support no doubt.

This thing about adding is only in the usa in europe and the uk what every you order is what you get and the price you pay even if it fitted at dealer if your order it at time of purchase its included in the price you pay dealer cannot charge for fitment of items purchased with your car order.

You need to do a search for "common problems with the BMW B-58 engine" and see what could be in your future.

I learned my lesson when I got a brand new 1999 Harley Davidson. It had the new 88ci engine. I was a genie pig. There were so many issues. I never buy new versions for major purchases.

Hey mate you should check out Ronnie Dahl review of the Ineos. No one tests like him. He even hit a kangaroo in his Ineos lol take care happy 4x4 travels

I backed out because I drove it and I found the machine to be underpowered and the steering is too much work. Both are common reactions since they began deliveries.There is a lot to like about the machine and the price is fair.

If they ever add driver gauges i would consider one.

Personally I wouldn’t go throwing any money at it till you get some miles on it to prove it’s going to be reliable.

Would have preferred the BMW I6 B57 turbodiesel but the aftertreatment equipment on those kills the reliability. Just bought a MY23 Ram Rebel 2500 HD with the Cummins last September, but will keep my eyes open for more on these as it comes out.

Ben using lawn fertilizer is not complicated,less then doing an oil change.

Just buy a Toyota Landcruiser, and get on with your life.

If they had a two-door option with a removable top like the original Defender, it would appeal more to me than it already is. Especially if they made a more base model with more simple materials. It looks great, though!

ANY turbo engine by definition is under stress compared to a NA engine. The concern is how much stress are you willing to live with as you contemplate mods or a tune.

Better to have a dealership for issues like warranty work. Early on Tesla's sat for months that needed body work and/or warranty work.

Nearest dealer for me is 1.5hr away. But I still want one. Since it's a BMW dealer, couldn't you just bring it to a euro shop for service?

So for those that are giving him hate. You guys suck. He’s literally giving insight into a small world of this ownership. With that said, he did a great job. If you have a problem with the vehicle, take that up with yourselves. I’ll be honest, I didn’t like the INEOS two years ago, but it’s grown on me since. Because there will be less on the road, I would choose it over a new Land Cruiser, especially now with Toyota’s new car reliability in question. Plus the new Land Cruiser is not a looker (to me).

I have no idea how the company is doing but I hope it's successful. While it's still crazy expensive for the average buyer, the idea behind creating it was a good one. Land Rover was a fool to abandon their roots just to concentrate entirely on luxury junk.

I think this thing is awesome

1. Should have worked out a deal with BMW stores. 2. The marketing and launch for the Grenadier was terrible. I challenged them on this myself. 3. Ineos communication was poor with the US order holders. 4. You picked the right color. I actually ordered this color with a white roof. 5. Insurance in my market was fine. 6. Cup holders and speedo and head unit visibility terrible. 7. I walked on my order because of a terrible lease deal. I lease for biz. Then last month they come out with a lease. 🤬 8. Over a hundred sitting on the dealer lot in my market. 9. The N.A. CEO has just resigned for personal reasons. He wasn’t connected with the order holders and feedback. 10. It’s a great product in many ways, but initial execution in the USA has severely lacked. JMO .. Sad, because we would have purchased 2 in my family. My lease was up and I wasn’t paying G wagon $$ for a totally unproven rig. Sorry .. let’s see where resell is in two years.

Had mine 6 months I dont like the steering but have gotten use to it. Kinda weird. I like mine overall. I live outside nashville and dealer is in atlanta so kinda a pain. Had a problem With blower on ac had to drive down took most of day to fix. But other than that its been fine

For the USA market, a GM LS 5.3 and 4L80 would make it more appealing and dirtcheap to maintain for decades. BMW/ ZF drivetrain and Bosch components is a soon endless money-pit.

Never buy until the third year of production on any car. Worked for Saab for ten years. First year production - numerous recalls. Second year production - not so many, but some. Third year production - problems fixed and loads of parts bin extras thrown in for free. Just wait it out.

Idios grenadier. A BMW engine is reliable? They have a built in oil absorbing pad on the cover underneath the engine so you don’t see the oil leaks before your warranty is up.

Super customisable means more and more parts, subassemblies, and devices with unproven quality and reliability and overall a vehicle with high complexity. The result is more maintenance and money upfront and down the road.

Spend your time shop around for best deal on the car your want and insurance you want , it can save your mega dollars people , and always ask for a better deal , it wont be offered by seller so insist on better price or walk away , walk away works well if youve got cash or cheque book on you , be organised and never show your happy until youve got a better deal or extras chucked in that cost big money , floor mats and light covers are cheap ask for more and a full tank of fuel to seal the deal😊 dont be scared to nag

All you need to do is look at the specs and you would know about the engine and any other parts - it’s not a mystery about the options, it’s all on the web site I wouldn’t drop £10k on a car without doing my research

I'm very curious to see the Grenadier Vs. Toyota Land Cruiser videos that you and others will do. The LC looks to have a more complicated engine and tranny. But it's more powerful and efficient along with Toyota reliability. But its still a turbo. Where the Ineos is old school straight 6. Which will be more reliable? Wheelbases are nearly identical. A 4x4 competition will be needed. I will also be interested in seeing which have the most articulation. I wanted a Grenadier at first but the LC is looking better on paper.

Having to drive 60 minutes to a nearest dealer is no biggie. The SUV is special and so there's not going to be a dealer on every street corner.

The video is confusing. The pros and cons don’t make sense. I ordered my vehicle, knowing fully well all the information that he considers to be confusing. I stopped watching it halfway through because the video made no sense.

I purchased a high end GM truck recently. The dealer service related to any type of warranty issue has been horrible. I don't understand how they can get away with how they do business.

I thought about buying one......thought about a G wagen......thought about the New Landwanker....can't buy the Toyota 70 series in EU wankerland....then my wife (the truck was for her) saw an Isuzu D Max AT 35.......I said Nah!!! won't be good off road.....so I tested it against my lifted Wrangler Diesel Rubicon unlimited.....and it was as good??? so I tested it again and it was as good. I let her go for it hes specced a bed cover, sliding bed and a winch......Then I had a heart attack....the price for the D Max was not even 2/3rds of the price of this thing....The French car Genadier...does not bring jobs to UK and is not patriotic and a D Max AT 35 costs just over HALF what this thing costs...IT IS NOT THAT GOOD.

Love everything except the infotainment system and back up camera quality is horrible.

I think it looks cheap when the mirrors and bumpers and grill are not body colored. Also for half the money you could get a mint condition series 100 Land Cruiser or an LX 470 and have a much better vehicle that will last longer and be easier to maintain.

I think it's a fun product... lots of great features and it's quirky, which is always good. But the front end is uggggggly. I hope in future year revisions they tune that a bit.
