Nice. I won 3 items and they shipped. Can’t wait. I got a mention in a RU-vid video talking about the auction earnings and prices as the crazy person paying 3312.79 for sighed drum head. lol. I also have Ludwig Super Sensitive Snare used in the 1998 tour and his Ludwig double bass pedals he used to warm up with coming. I bid on drum set in 5150 studio too but quit bidding when it got over 30K with fees and shipping. Oh and I plan on adding the Ludwig Super Super Sensitive snare and his double bass pedals to my kit and using them!
@@ChuckSchillingDrums Yep! They threw in cool 2015 VH Crew T-Shirt, couple back stage passes and pair new regal Alex VH sticks. I put the 1998 concert used Ludwig Super Sensitive snare on Mapex Saturn V kit. Sounds amazing! Man he could tune them! I also am using his warm up Ludwig Atlas Double bass pedals. He liked low spring tension like me. I didn’t mess with settings they are perfect. They work great! Lastly going to get the sighed drum head framed and add it on wall in my drum room later.

Thanks! I've got one of those signature snares in my arsenal right now. I ordered a new set of copper hoops from Ludwig to put on it so I wouldn't worry about hurting the value by playing it, because it's a great snare to play.
Unbelievable! That was at the legendary backyard parties in the san gabriel valley days of Van halen. Just think of where that has been and what has been played on it!
Thanks! I'm going to do what I can to preserve the AVH bits that would be altered from use (head and hoop) but I'm going to get it into playing shape and have some fun with it.
Well done ! I'm sure it will spark many memories . I managed to keep some memories from my concert days like my Gene Simmons bass pick from the Dynasty tour my fully autographed Tour poster ( Megadeth Peace Sells ) from when they opened for Alice Cooper on his Constrictor tour . I have a Corrosion of Conformity shirt a good friend mine made for me . I bleached the back of an Army shirt ( no patches or I.D. ) and on the bleached out back he did the COC skull and wrote out COC ( it absolutely kills ) . I wore it to the 92' Lollapallooza with the Chili Peppers , Soundgarden , Pearl Jam , TOOL and Ministry concert in Orlando . I also wore it to the very last RUSH concert . That's what its all about ....the memories . PK
You're a lucky dude. I looked at the AVH auction a few weeks ago but most of the items sold very quickly or were already gone. VH is probably my favorite band ever. Take good care of that piece of history. OHHH!!! I was also at the R'n'R' hall of fame when his Women and Children First kit was there in the lobby (2014/2015?). Next to one of Ed's signature guitars. Fellow Ohioan here.

Such a shame that Alex is stuck in the past. It would be great for him to join Sammy and company in their tour for a few songs rippin’ through some classics. I’ve imagined him getting together and being a part of a new supergroup. Alas that’ll never happen. I’m going to go listen to Mean Street and turn that up to 11.
As far as my research goes, the 22" was retired "well" before the first album recording. He had replaced them with a 24" and a 26" by the time of the recording, and then seemingly with tour advances he bought identical 24" and 26" to mount to the front of the first two. But this 22" was his main kick for a few years, and it likely made some of the earlier photos and even bootleg performances probably before 1975-1976 At least you have a few pictures of him early on with the drum that you could display with it! A lot of the drums in the auction were so-called "studio used" equipment, but there will never be photo proof of that (not that I think they are lying by any means, but "studio used" is certainly a stretch in order to inflate the value of a one-time use bass drum... lol)
I've been scouring through VH groups looking for any photos I can find. I've got pictures of this used into 76, and then a huge gap until NYE 77-78 when it looks like he had 24 and 26 kicks. I believe VH1 was recorded in Sept-Oct 77. You're most likely right that the 24 and 26 were on the album, but I'm still holding out hope 😂
@@ChuckSchillingDrums unfortunately there's only the one photo from the recording session... it's likely that he was using the 24/26 in the studio but there's a chance that he sized down or something to lessen the bleed in the other mics. we may never know, but it's still an important part of VH history!!

I appreciate the advice. I'm not planning on doing any cleaning/polishing or anything of that sort. I'm going to swap out his head and hoop for replacements (storing the originals somewhere safe), bolt the correct tom holder back on (no mods to do this) and put a second spur on so it can be played. It'll be in the vault when not in use.

@@keepontruckinoutlawlife1248 Thanks for subscribing! It really seems like Alex is done. I can't fault him if that's his decision, he's left an amazing legacy of work behind. Watching old live footage, you can see he's almost entirely focused on Ed when playing, so I can imagine it doesn't feel the same anymore.
That's what it looks like to me as well. I've been trying to find pictures of recording the first album but I don't know if they're out there. The studio images with the silver sparkle kit I've seen have stainless steel toms, so I think that may be recording for the 2nd album.
