@wesleykim1758
@wesleykim1758 2 года назад
I mean, Phil is used to playing against crushers who are thinking of ranges, tendencies, and pot odds. When most of the players are willing to go all-in with Q5 offsuit it does get frustrating when you A) Dont realize your equity and B) Have a hard time understanding what are essentially illogical decisions. So hard to adjust since you don't know when your opponents will flip the switch of either being a call station or a folding machine
@jamesjack3519
@jamesjack3519 2 года назад
@@wesleykim1758 I agree but a professional should be able to quickly assess his competition and adjust without all the pouting. If he is unable to just play and have fun with these people he should not take part, especially since he was representing professional players.
@wesleykim1758
@wesleykim1758 2 года назад
@@jamesjack3519 Yeah, Hellmuth is definitely not a very good choice for a poker ambassador, never really liked him because of his inability to not be an ass when the deck isn't't in his favor. Just saw some of his rage clips and it does piss me off that that's how he acts with inexperienced players who are there for fun. On another note, even as a professional getting reads on inexperienced players is like trying to understand the logic of a child, not saying anyone playing is a child. They dont know what they are doing and they are constantly changing their strategy to what makes sense to them even if logically it doesnt make sense since they are being put into all of these novel situations with a lot of money on the line. Kids like to experiment and explore, and that is exactly what their gameplay is like since they are constantly gaining new experiences. Grizzled bitter mis-regs stick have played Hundreds of thousands of hands and roughly know what to do in most situations, and are thus more consistent overall with their decisions regardless of their strategy. Variance is a b**** and it gets ramped up to 11 with new people, so you just have to be okay with experiencing those swings or dont play or dont get mad when the cards dont go your way

My father grew up with Stu Ungar on the lower east-side (NYC). He used to tell me stories about how Stu started playing high-stakes Gin Rummy (popular card game in their younger days). Stu, between ages 13 and 20 or thereabouts, started playing the best players in NY, then America, whoever wanted to fly into NY to play him. Where would a kid his age get the money to play for such high-stakes verses the best players in the country? Back then the lower east-side was controlled by the mob. Stu's father was a small-time bookie, but the higher-ups in the mob would bankroll his games for a 50-50 split of the profits. Stu DESTROYED all of the best Gin Rummy players ... UNDEFEATED. He would clean them all out and beat them like a drum, easily, and he had a habit of mocking his opponents to get under their skin, which definitely worked to his advantage. He was a LEGEND on the lower east-side (card players version of Bobby Fischer), but it got to the point where NOBODY would dare play him anymore, so he packed up and moved to Las Vegas. In Vegas he did the same thing, cleaned out ALL of the best Gin Rummy players in Vegas. Once again he could no-longer get anyone to play him for high-stakes, so he switched to Poker (out of necessity), a game he had never played for real money, but he watched a couple of high-stakes tournaments just to see how the game was played in Vegas, then proceeded to enter the high-stakes tournaments and kept winning them, one after another after another and so on. Then he entered the Vegas World Series of Poker and WON IT ... again, and again, and again! LOL It turns out Stu had a photogenic memory and knew how to count cards, but THAT ASIDE he was just the best card player whoever lived, at any game. Just name the card game, for how much, and he would beat the pants off you, no matter how great you were at it. One time he even walked into a Casino, after he was barred from gambling at every Casino in Vegas (except for the tournaments), and challenged the owner to a 10K bet. He told the owner to take a deck of cards and turn them over at normal speed, one at a time, and when he was down to the last card Stu would guess what card it is. The owner took that bet, seemingly impossible for Stu, and when he got down to the last card Stu CORRECTLY told him which card it was. 😯 If anyone thinks I'm exaggerating, STU UNGAR ... THE GOAT (at Poker, Gin or any card game) ... just look it up for yourselves, there are RU-vid videos about Stu and there's a Wikipedia Page about him too. Unfortunately he died young from a Cocaine habit that killed him.

As a lifetime player and someone who makes a living off the game, I would say you did very well. Phil is always like that is his personality like it or hate it. Keep playing its a beautiful game and there is no ride like it. I had to edit this after seeing your AJ vs Ludwig and damn you played that well, you made a continuation bet after the flop even though you missed which is correct as the aggressor, and you realized you were priced in and called instead of folding a small amount because even if behind you catch up with your hand.

I'm here from the Hustler Casino Live stream for the poker content. I've seen your chess videos too, when I was on a chess strategy kick. Nice play. You and the rest of the amateurs weren't allowing yourselves to be bullied (for the most part) and took it to the pros! I absolutely LOVE your call against Phil Hellmuth and how mad he was that you called him WITH THE BETTER HAND! Such great content. It's funny because he gets mad at your call with Ace 9 off suit, when he's playing a worse off suited Ace. Just wiping the floor with these dudes... killing it as the only chick at the table.

Your initial slow-roll on Allen with KK was hilarious, obvi not intentional but definitely made the audience laugh for sure. @pauldavis5665
@pauldavis5665 2 года назад
Not really equivalent at all. Yes, there is skill in poker, and the good players know how to make a profit in the long run, but there is also a luck factor involved and it is way easier to have a lucky poker game against an expert poker player then to have a lucky chess game against a chess GM. It would literally be impossibly for a chess amateur to beat Magnus Carlsen once, let alone three games in a row since there is almost no luck factor in chess.
