This made me emotional. The 2000s were the best for both video games and anime. I miss when we were all getting along and the biggest debate was xbox vs playstation. I miss going over to friends house and learning new super bounce spots on Halo 2. I miss staying up late to watch cowboy bebop and fullmetal alchemist. I just miss it all. The world has gotten so much harder to deal with and I don't think we will see another time like the 2000s in our lifetime.

i have a voicemail from my grandma just before she passed, her and my mom raised me, dad was never around very much it was like losing my other mom, it hurts to this day and its been 3 years may 3rd 2021 one of the worst days of my life. its her saying (for context my names Wyatt) "Wymie you better pick up this phone its your Grandma and i aint heard from ye you call me back now you hear me" because i had been staying and basically babysitting my brother out of state who was recovering from a heroin addiction so i was making sure he didnt do anything stupid or relapse and had to go with him literally everywhere and talk him down when he'd try to get high. we had both moved back home from his place just a few days before she passed and it hurt because the last 4 or 5 years of her life i pretty much lived over there when i wasnt playing games she lived right next door and id just go watch tv with her in the mornings and evenings and we would talk about literally everything i was dealing with and she'd pick up snacks we liked and sodas and it was just wonderful and id do just about anything to have that back but she's gone and now everythings just different, i get in nostalgia kicks and play games that remind me of being a kid because i guess subconciously it makes me feel like all my family who have passed are still around, since around 2012 ive lost around 18 family members who were very close now its just my parents stepdad and mom and a few aunts and uncles and then my bio dad but we still dont talk very much, we are closer since ive gotten older but overall he's just too busy most the time and i dont wanna bother him

I had started to see someone and just as I was feeling hope itd go somewhere nice, she told me hell no and stopped seeing me. Not the first time I've been rejected, just at this alone time of my life, despair hit me like a black brick. There are comforting moments in mass effect that calmed me and made me feel better. Hey brother, I worked at GameStop from 1999 to 2005. I started in Irving Texas and eventually ended up in the Houston area. I was 21 years old too and this was the start of my first “real” job. I started as just part time shelf stocker and man, it was just fun being around video games and people that love gaming too. I eventually became an assistant manager, then a store manager. It was at one point the best job I’ve ever had, then it was the worst I had ever had. Worst due to the pressure they put on all the employees to upsell and meet certain sales goals. I will say though, being around for the PS2, Xbox, and GameCube launches were some of my best memories. I still feel this was the best time in gaming. So much innovation and creativity. Thanks for sharing your memories with us!

I was at Toys R US when those consoles launched. I still remember advertising in the newspaper that we would have PS2 consoles available on the next saturday and seeing the line of people all the way around the parking lot hoping to get one at 6AM. Sometimes we would get literally 200-500 consoles in that week to sell on that saturday and we sold them all in under an hour and probably thousands of games and controllers along with them. I was at Toys R US right at the transition from the ticket system and bringing it to the little window where the person behind there had a room full of games and consoles along with accessories. I was the one in that room for about 6 months before we redesigned the store to the actual department with the games in security cases on the floor instead of the tickets. The tickets were more secure but it was less personable and I think people preferred actual staff working the department vs the ticket system.

I was literally inside my local EB games at the Colony Mill in Keene, New Hampshire as a customer when the manager, Randy, got the news that Gamestop had acquired the chain and broke it to the other guys. I think that was 2005. Still remember that day clearly. Me and my friends used to go there quite a bit because they had Xbox, Gamecube & PS2 kiosks all lined up next to each other and they always had the latest games playing. They always used to talk about Gamestop like it was the evil empire up to that point. My main memory of Randy is the day I brought in my entire NES collection of about 150 games boxes and manuals into the store to try to sell to him and he begged me to take everything back home and keep it all because "one day this will be worth a lot of money than what he can give me".....one of the best things anybody ever did for me

I worked at EB Games in the late 90s. I actually enjoyed my time there as I had first dibs on trade-ins I wanted. Though tragic and a very tough time in your life, at least you have some of these memories preserved on video which most of us from back then - do not. Gaming got me through some really tough times. It wasn't until decades later when I realized how good I have it now that it hit me how really bad it was back then. The memories still bring me down from time to time though. I remember that. The "boutique" part always sounded out of place to me, so I was glad when they changed it to EB Games as it sounded more mature. When I hear the word "boutique", I immediately think women's stuff. It doesn't really have a good ring when your target audience is mostly male.

I miss my father every day and I can relate to how you feel and I genuinely mean this; I'm an upcoming game designer in college now at 34 and my father was the biggest inspiration I had growing up (mainly he is the one that showed me every single amazing SNES game including my favorite - Super Metroid) and he was always there telling me to go for my dreams and he has always know I always wanted to be in game design or at least be in the industry somehow. Thank you for all of the time and effort you put into your videos, and I can tell you got a lot of your father's talent with video and storytelling (broadcasting with video). You rock and never give your dreams either! I won't! My father passed 7 years ago this year and I will never let myself down or him down! I know you are making it and doing well! Keep it up, dude! Go for your goals! Thanks for everything that you do!

im 40 years old, im just like you. now i have video game days, where its a date but its a day, me and my girlfriend just play oldschool games even some new remakes, but i keep the feelings and memories alive. i never had a father who gave a fuck much, old war vet. but games were the happiest times of my life. super mario world on snes is still king. that was the best christmas i ever had at 8 years old in 1992. they gave me a box and i opened it but it had snes games and i cried because i didnt have one. and they said oh we thought you did. i said no you bought the wrong ones i only have nes. anyway they then acted like christmas presents were gone and it was time for supper. and then behind the tree was one box hidden. i opened it and there it was. super scope 6 and a snes..... best memories.

This one made me emotional. I lost my dad in 2006 and my mom in 2018. When you look back at things like this, while it may just be material things, those material things are tied to a memory or a bond that you had with someone you loved dearly. My relationship with my dad was not nearly as close as yours seemed to be with yours, but our thing was movies. More specifically, comedies. I always knew what kind of comedy film would get a good laugh out of my dad, and his laugh was incredibly infectious. He had, quite frankly, an obnoxiously loud and boisterous laugh that you would hear from the other end of a crowded movie theater. But I didn’t care because that laugh was full of life and joy. Unfortunately he wasn’t much of a videographer, so we only had very few videos. And honestly I think the few that we had got lost in a move a long time ago, so him and his voice mainly live in our memories. I don’t know how many more videos you can make out of the footage that you have, as obviously you gotta run out of footage sometime. But when you do run out of material, be thankful that you have all of that footage and were able to show the world how great he was. It’s really cool that you were able to find success with your memories. They might be just games, just a piece of plastic in the grand scheme of things, but with that piece of plastic some wonderful memories were able to happen. Cherish the video footage you got out of all of it, and you should feel proud of what you have done with it all. I know your dad would be, even though I never met him.

I'm 47. I worked at a store called Compucentre between 1994 and 2002. It was a chain of 20-30 stores in Canada selling only video games, consoles and computer stuff. I have some pics of that. This time of my life created some of the best memories for me. This job was the most influential in my life. This is where I met some of the best guys I still call friends to this day. We were literally sitting on a treasure trove and we didn't knew it. My God, if I had scavenged all the game posters, signs, empty boxes, cardboard stands, consoles demo kiosks etc we trashed regularly back then... I still remember 2 brand new copies of Earthbound SNES (those big boxes), stuck on the top shelve near the roof and I wondered for something like a year and a half if we would ever sell them. MG... This is where I fell in love with the 3DO console, where I fell in love with so many excellent games. I feel you bro!
