Chilchuck being a dad makes the “talk” between him and Senshi in the Dryad episode even funnier in hindsight.

Fun-Fact: The official manga translations for DM mistranslated Thistle as Sissel even though the Adventurer's Guide spells him as Thistle in english characters. He's named Thistle after a flower that exists IRL, so it's not meant to be vague or anything. Anyway, a few months ago, Netflix anounced Thistle as "Sissel" on their social medias, but they got ratio'd so fucking hard that apparently between then and now, they reverted to Thistle. This episode marks a victory for the manga readers in a years-long battle!

How come every time I think this show's comedy has peaked they find a way to get FUNNIER? I can't believe senshi explained the birds and the bees to the only member of the party that has canonically fucked... HE'S MARRIED AND HAS KIDS!

Once again, Chilchuck, being the actual oldest in party according to the context of racial lifespan. Shows his maturity making Senshi open up about his past by voluntarily divulge his own perhaps checkered history. No spoiler but Kui did draw art of how Chilchuck would look like as a tallman, and he looks exactly how you would expect. A weathered middle age divorced man in his 40's with permanent 5 o'clock shadow.

It is so sweet and funny once you realize in canon charts, Chil is revealed to view Marcille as “a young lady” since the beginning of their journey lol, that’s why he’s always somewhat tolerating yet cheeky with her, she reminds him of his kids. Similar to Itsuzumi, and Laios as well, Chil sometimes gets frustrated with his lack of certain communication skills, but it mainly comes from a place of genuine concern for his future.

RIP Sky fish, you were a real one. The biggest lore bomb this episode was that Chilchuck has a wife and kids that he hasn't seen in years.

as someone who read the manga I'm so glad "chilchuck has a wife and kids" didn't get spoiled for all of the anime viewers because from my perspective it felt like it did and I felt so sad that people were getting robbed of how funny that reveal is

Those unicorns seems weird as heck, but there is old imagery with those nose horns. Even more when you remember they were sometimes mistaken with rhinoceros.

the anime kinda made it more subtle in the background so it's harder to notice than the manga but you can actually see marcille being completely shocked about chilchuck's family reveal and is still "????????" about it even when chil already continued to the next topic 😂😂 so yeah, it's shocking for them (especially marcille) too 😂

Im so glad you picked up on the importance of marcille cutting her Hair to save senshi after she's been shown to be super protective and caring of it this whole time. That and allowing herself to get all bloody and gross when resurrecting falin when she's usually so insistent on being clean. The things she does for love ❤

I was reading the Dungeon Explorer's Manual, there's some tidbits of trivia that won't come as spoilers. There are not old people at the village, because those born and grown before the Labirinth was created could not cope with the life inside it for many centuries, the elders left their bodies and are the ghosts outside. Thistle isn't his real name, but given because the color of his eyes. Delgal's father wanted a elf in the court because it would be really fancy, however his courtesans were worried about bringing a scheming seductress or a powerful mage so they came up with an elf kid hoping no harm would come from it.

I saw sooooo many divorced dad memes about Chilchuck that it made complete sense when I learned about his wife and kids. Of course he said he hasnt seen them in a while. And the Senshi tease at the end for next episode.

I love that this reveal means that Senshi was adamantly giving the birds and the bees talk to the one member of the party who actually has kids.

Chillchuck(29/ _SPOILER_ ) has reached 58% of his lifespan. And Senshi(112/200) is on 56%. In fact, the youngest is Marcille(50/ _SPOILER_ ), who has only reached 5% of her lifespan. For Laios(26/ _Maybe SPOILER?_ ) he is already at 44% and Izutsumi(17/ _Same as Laios, she's Tall-Man_ ) at 28%. _(I used % to equalize them because their lifespan are different)_

I was wondering, have you ever thought of doing a series like this on the Chainsaw Man anime?? I'd love to see your takes on it, especially since there's a movie coming out... eventually, lol :)

I wanted to mention it last episode, but Yaad is a man.

The events that will be told in next episode are happening only ten years ago. Right now, Senshi is only 50 ish. In the flashback he is in his early forties, which is basically late teen for dwarves, hence why he lacks the beard. And yeah, that means he is only a young adult and him often acting like the old man of the party is more so his inability to properly assess the age of the others.

winged lion is probably literally my most favorite plot and world element of dungeon meshi, it just scratches my brain in such a good way and i so so hope you dont get spoiled on any of it. i find it curious that it (from yaad's words) communicates through dreams (pushing delgal into leaving the dungeon? thus revealing it to the world at large?) rewatching this episode, i wonder if the Nightmares are a part of it (on a completely unrelated note, hell yes, dadchuck for the win, all this time senshi was not the only father of the group (i think his emotional constipation probably should have tipped us of that something was up haha))

my personal favorite episode so far, I had the most fun watching this one. One of the funniest episodes in my opinion too.

Dwarves in Dungeon Meshi universe do not live as long as in other fantasy. Elves about 500, Humans around 60, Halflings around 50, Dwarves around 200. Senshi is actually SUPER young. How young you will find out next episode. Also mixed races live differing time depending on heritage so Isuzumi is an enigma considering age, but based on information there is, she is young-ish?

You will see Chillchuck in the next episode in a different version as a 34 years old Tall-Man.

Senshi is clearly the sole survivor of that dwarven dungeon delve team. That red-bearded dwarf is wearing Senshi's helmet in the flashback. So, it's probable that the dwarves dug too deep and got lost. They probably ran out of food and began to starve. Theory #1: Senshi survived by learning how to eat monsters, which would explain why he's so obsessed with making sure everyone stays well-fed. Theory #2: Senshi survived by learning how to eat people, which would explain why he's why he's so obsessed in making sure everyone stays nice and fat.

Was not expecting Marcille to become Ma-rikiel-le this episode.

About the Chilkids reveal: in japanese he says he has "wife and daughter", since japanese doesn't actually use plural form. Unfortunate the English dub spoils that he has multiple kids, the Chilchuck lore reveals are funnier if you don't know. :(
