I remember buying them when they first came out and then again several years later. I still have the second pair. I remember putting them away somewhere safe so I thought. Then a few years ago I was cleaning out the garage and found them and then I tried them on and they fell apart because of the heat . I would have never put them in the garage living in Texas. I mean, everyone has something that fuels them, for Michael, that was finding one person who he could fight against and disprove, the more personal the better. It makes sense considering he had dealt with parental disapproval, verbal and physical abuse and lacked the respect of his father figure (in this case his actual father) who saw him as weak in a way, not to mention, all that grew to become a threat to his "masculinity." It is also the reason why Michael spoiled his kids quite a bit as he had the need to show to his kids and himself that he was giving his kids everything emotionally and financially that his father never gave him. Probably also the reason his kids don't have his drive, his motivation, his skill, they just don't have that trauma and rage to tap into.
