This is my favourite car ressurrection on RU-vid right now! I love that you're keeping with the patina look, it's part of the cars history. It's literally been brought back from the dead so that's how it should roll. You should be proud, you've done a great job on this and I love that you're rescuing a car for the love of it, a true car person right here.
Thank you so much for the kind comments. I appreciate it’s not for everyone but you have grasped the idea I have and it should wear all is scars. But I also want option later down the line to maybe repaint her so I want to preserve as much as I can 👍
Enjoying the longer videos fella! You say you aren't a professional but you're doing a dqmn good job, and I reckon making it look weathered to match the rest of the car is harder than aiming for a shiney finish. Great video as always
Good episode. Some things I liked… and some not. I liked not restoring the VWW - it just isn’t worth it, so the repair to the scuttle and painting are pretty good. The aerosol paint will be very thin, so it will wear through quickly. I didn’t think much of the rusty repair to the back door - I’d have knocked out the loose stuff, converted the rust and filled it - that would have looked a bit better and been more waterproof. I think the rusty bit looks arse - but it is your project. Get a slightly bigger ‘UK’ sticker and put it over the old ‘GB’ one. This is a good project - motor cars like this never make sense, but that isn’t the point - I’d have done most things the same and it will turn out fine in the end, just don’t work out how much it has cost you (time as well as money), otherwise you will scare yourself. Well done. Alan
I have enjoyed how creative I can be with this car. It will have a good look once it’s done but appreciate it won’t be for everyone. I have kept a total of what it’s cost me and so far I don’t think it’s too much and generally don’t care it’s saving another and having something different on the road. Again might not be worth it to some but if we all thought like that there wouldn’t be any left. As for the boot “repair” it was pure an experiment all the loose stuff is gone and now it’s dried it works well with the look. I am excited to get her running and driving now. Thanks for watching and commenting as ever Alan.
That came out so well. I'm so gutted with my repair on my car. Paint looks silvery. I had a reaction. It wouldn't blend. Can nozzles were constantly blocking between passes. Had the can start dripping on the bonnet. Nice fix on the boot lid. Will keep it going. I'm normally brushing rust off the floor. I can't decide with the GB sticker.
Thanks buddy it’s really not good in flesh but hopefully ones it’s all blended together it should look ok. I hate painting stuff it’s so stressful I would love to be good at it. Your 740 you did a good job buddy. Love that car.
Woop woop 13k well done mate and well deserved you worked dam hard for it. The volvo is really taking shape fast it's looking good. Wonder could you get a distorted custom simpsons classics sticker to replace the gb one or get one that says sc instead
Thanks buddy that means a lot. It’s definitely taking shape now and we are working through those jobs. That’s not a bad shout with the sticker… I am thinking of ideas and that’s a good one 👍
@SimpsonsClassics it really is I didn't think in a million years that it would be that far. The sanding back the base coat to primer will look ace 👌 it's very hard to fake patina will ace it though. I can see the sc sticker when it's done
