One of the best and most loved modules from the 80's! The legacy of this single module is a whole subset of adventures, novels, and an adventure realm. Despite the gothic horror setting, it can still fit into a Fantasy setting.
Wow, what a convergence, I've watched Maven for years. This is a great module, wonderful mythology. I do wonder, did you consider redubbing the gypsy term or had acaveat about the use? Given the recent D&D rewriting of Curse of Strahd? To be honest, gypsy has been depreciated for many years already to describe the Romani and other traveller groups like them.
Love Maven of the Eventide's videos. She did a better job of describing the Mod and Tome than I could. In my video, I did forget to mention that the Vistani have real Power in Barovia. They are the only ones who can enter and exit the Mists. This leaves them as the only ones who can supply Barovia with its necessities (i.e. they are the only ones who can trade with the outside world).
They are on my To Do List. I reviewed the Fair Barovia Dungeon Mag Adventure, which was also incorporated into CoS. Next on the List is the 3.5E version "Expedition to Castle Ravenloft".
I like Maven Of The Eventide's take on Tatiana. Tatiana keeps getting reincarnated, so not exactly like the immortals of Highlander. The more "official" source on Tatiana's info would be the Novel "I, Strahd". I admit, I did not really like the Novel, because it read more like a "cash grab" than it did of a good story.
RPGmodsFan did the book say who Irena's parents were and how the came to be adopted by the mayor? Also Irena was ok with dropping dead to be with Sergi? That sounds like it's own horror story!
@@PFiction24 I would recommend watching Maven's Video on "I, Strahd", because I would be pretty much just repeating what she says in her video. I guess I am too lazy to write a long answer? :-P ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BCCD8GO3Tyo.html I treat the original I6 Mod as Canon. In it the Burgomaster found Irena as a baby at the foot of Ravenloft's Pillarrock, behind the Church. Was she abandoned there? Or did she "poof" came into existence out of nowhere? That is up to the DM to decide. As far as going off with Sergei, at that point Irena is convinced she is the reincarnation of Tatiana.
Glad you like the info. As far as my voice, I have a fear of slurring my words (did so when I was young). So now I try to speak each word individually, to avoid slurring my words.
Thanks for the suggestion. I will put it on my To Do List. Currently working on Traveller videos. I admit, I am still pissed at WotC for the OGL Debacle, hence I am not motivated to do D&D videos.
