Fantastic video on IB education! 🌟 It's evident that you put a lot of thought and effort into creating this content, and it truly shines through. I'm sure it will benefit many students and parents looking for guidance in this area. I can't wait to see more of your educational content in the future!
As an educator, it is heartwarming to see and hear the parent's perspective. I must commend your research skills regarding IB and how you delved deeply into the programs.
Thank you! Video just popped up and I started listening. So far the best, if you ask me, for a parent who has been educated in a very traditional setup. No text books were giving me sacres! Almost like I have no clue what is going on and I have no power what so ever! Please do continue on further educating about IB.
Please make other videos as well!! Glad to see that we have parents like you who think unconventionally and keep the health, wellbeing and skillsets of their children at topmost priority while educating them. REQUEST: Please shed some light on what students learn about their own culture and traditions. Apart from international languages, Are they comfortable with teaching regional Languages such as Gujarati, Marathi, Hindi etc. MYTH: Please Break this myth of whether:- 1)The parents with high income sending their kids to IB Schools sever them from their roots. Don't teach them cultural values, traditions. IB schools do not celebrate Bhartiya Festivities or parents wouldn't take them to temples with marvellous architecture which have a science behind which isn't really known so it is expected of such IB Schools to come up with unique ways to help kids understand that so that even if they go abroad, they understand what's the heritage they leave behind. 2) The rich parents send their kids to IB Schools do it for status quo and to send their kids abroad, focus more on English and make them think exactly the same way as Britishers did at one time of making English education the primary thing and taking away regional identies, culture and feelings of respect to grandparents away from them. Here, whether that English Education is given by CBSE/ICSE Schools who have a rote learning approach or IB Schools that have a skilling approach but as the primary medium remains english so it is assumed to be taken up for status quo and kids look down upon their culture and festivities. Look down upon wearing Tilak or learning about their gods. It becomes important to ask this because their are people in towns who are rich but culturally rooted and don't think unconventionally even though they can afford it, so your videos can become a good medium to convince them. Edit : By culturally rooted I mean who think that Gurukuls are a way forward coz current modern schooling system doesn't not teaches ethics, values. Doesn't shows them how to distinguish between right and wrong and these people are traditionally living in let's say their ancestral homes in villages of keral, gujarat, punjab, coorg, north east basically every village and town in Bharat have such families just that they need to be educated about these systems of IB Schools. Love Love 💗💗 THANKYOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR VIDEOS AND CHOICE YOU MADE FOR YOUR KIDS. जय हिंद।
Thank you so much - so glad my video could help you with the info you need on IB education. In terms of best IB schools - I would say that since all IB authorised schools have to meet IB standards and practices, they by and large would all be good. The ideal one for your child would depend upon your location, budget and a few other priorities
Such a helpful video. love your clarity and the research you have done. When will you be coming up with a video for MYP and DP? also what are the options for children who want to shift to Indian colleges after 10th and may not want to do the IBDP? Students who do not want to take up medicine or engineering but other courses, what are the universities that are popular among such students after 10th in India?
Hats off to you dear.. what an amazing video filled with so much important info I think all the new parents will definitely benefit from it 👍👍 It came at the right time when I was looking for schools for my toddler and was unable to decide since I had zero knowledge regarding IB board.. thanks for making such a video , will look forward for the next in this series and please continue to bring such important content to the world..
Thanks so much Jharna.. this was so detailed.. looking forward to subsequent sessions.. would like to know how parents can prepare and undergo mindset shift.. knowing we were raised in traditional schooling which were academic oriented.. Thanks so much for describing how progressive IB is and how it’s not a board per se and is responsible for comprehensive development of child!!
Gorgeous Jharna. Fantastic video, many thanks for the thorough explanation. I've been looking for it for the past year.. Could you please make a video on IGCSE schools also please
Wow.. so very well explained 👏 👌..You have truely researched deeper and have shared such valuable insights about the program. This will surely give clarity to many who are confused between the IB programme and other boards ❤❤ Its always delightful to watch the boys showcasing their acting skills in your videos..😍
Can you plz make a detailed video for myp assessment along with criteria in subject - choosing right subject in myp and dp as I liked your detailed video about IB system .
A simple and very well presented video addressing the basics about IB and the most common concerns parents have. Thank you Jharna for this informative and wonderful video! Very structured and concise. It helped understand lot of points not available first hand.
Very very helpful... thankyou so very much for this detailed information... Gratitude from a very anxious mother of a toddler struggling to decide which board to opt for 😢
According to my perspective, it is advisable to follow the Primary Years Programme (PYP) from 1st to 5th standard, then transition to Cambridge Lower Secondary and Senior Secondary, i.e., IGCSE, from 6th to 10th standard. In 11th and 12th grade, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) is considered the best option. I, myself, attended The British School Delhi and followed the same educational pathway
Thank you for your opinion and please mention how you are associated with the school. It is quite odd to get two comments about a specific school in a matter of a few mins
Thanks for detailing out the IB basics...Can you elaborate more on kids ability to enter good graduation colleges in India post IBDP ... especially since marks cut offs are really high in top colleges
Very informative video So humble request to you ma'am...i want to become ib Eng teacher....plz suggest me and how to research their curriculum.... please tell me please
Dear Madam, I have seen your video it's very worth full information for the parents who's plan for IB school, we are looking IB Diploma for my daughter in bangalore and we are from Tamilnadu,Can you suggest the best Ib school with safe boarding in bangalore Please.
Madam, Scoring High Marks / Top Ranks in JEE (Advanced) / NEET Exam Is NOT Much Easy. Only Knowledge of NCERT Books & Rote Learning NOT Enough to Crack JEE (Advanced) Which May Please Be Noted.
Did I say that it is easy or that only rote learning is necessary?? Please don’t insert words into my mouth which I have not said. My husband is an IITian and I know how hard it is appear for competitive exams like these and do well in them
@@Jharnalist Greatly Humbled by this response 😂 I think people should think about this that it is not easy to take such unconventional decisions as parents living in Bharat for their kids. That's why your video series are very crucial. Once again Thanks alot.
Yes as will power in itself is a very big factor here. Totally Agree with you. But still the amount of pressure students go through its imp to think about alternatives. And going by your argument you make it clear that even if a person goes to an IB School still they can go to a coaching learn for competitive exams and join IB affiliated unis coz they not just involve rote learning but active involvement of students, scientific temperament and will power which is already been taught in IB Schools. So if they try they have a chance coz exams like NEET are not just about cramming textbook but understanding the topics playfully/joyously, yes trust me there are coaching who tend to make learning fun and application of that knowledge. Just a different of looking at things. यथा दृष्टि, तथा श्रृष्टि। (Yatha Drishti, Tatha Shristi.) Meaning : The way you look at the world, the world will appear to you the same way. @Job_Education_Counselling
Hello, really nice and informative video, Inspired by your video, I have done a lot of research and realised it’s really necessary, convinced my parents why it’s important for there grand children, convinced my wife, and was very happy for my son, daughter and my brothers son ( I am taking care of ). Then next step I started searching for schools, but then reality hit me very hard, the cheapest IB schools are asking average 3LPA in Mumbai. even though I can afford it for one child it’s overwhelming if you make it 3x, no way I can afford it. Then I realised why middle class never get a chance to be and complete with the elite class, its money man money 😢
I understand that is what IB by definition is. But - do schools and trachers in India understand the new ways of teaching? Or are they still teaching in traditional ways?
Well if you watch the video you will be able to understand about IB teachers training, workshops and how IB keeps a check on schools meeting standards. Beyond that yes of course there is a dearth of teachers who are qualified to teach the IB programmes effectively
@jharnalist hi i wanted to get a little more clarity. In Bombay there are some very good IB schools who dont have the MYP programme and are affiliated with the cambridge board, meaning kids will have exams like other regular schools. Is there a reason for this to create a balance since it will help during competitive exams in India.
I've clearly mentioned in the video that parents are required to be active participants - that doesn't mean kids don''t learn how to work independently as well
Of course there is a place you can look at for accurate information. If you watch this video of mine that you have commented on you will find a detailed answer on exactly how to find that out
Please mention in what capacity are you associated with Oakridge. I would like the comments space here to be unbiased or at least parents going through the comments should know where the opinion is coming from. Are you in charge of Admissions and Marketing at Oakridge?
1 school I am interested in claims to be an IB world school, they say they got certified but I don't see it reflect on the IB website yet. How do I ensure that they are indeed certified but not yet updated on website?
If they have completed the authorisation process it will reflect on the IB website - if they are still a candidate school it won't - please confirm with the school directly
Watched the full video. Wonderfully done video. I'm a maths tutor (cbse and icse). Can you suggest how should I proceed to become an IB maths tutor? Which books to refer to for myp and dp syllabus?
Thanks Jharna ji for making video on IB. Pls share link for pyp, myp and Dp program videos. My kid is studying in Grade 8 in USA and we are planning to return in about 2years which could be after passing out of grade 10. Will my Kid be eligible to join IB - DP program
