That's really an aesthetically interesting machine. I wonder if the styling was intended to attract someone who liked the styling of Oreck's Magnesium. Every two weeks I move all of the furniture on one floor of my house to the centers of the rooms and clean the ceilings, walls, baseboards and back of all furniture both wood and upholstered. I really like the second rotating brush nozzle's size and design and think that it would be great for being able to get into tight spaces in between major cleanings. I've noticed that in recent years, many machines are returning to smaller diameter brushrools as many were equipped before the 1970s. I like the long and amply thick bristles but in wonder why the return of the smaller diameter. I wonder if direct drive has caused in part some of their return to the market. I really like some of the ideas on this machine and think that it could be fun to have in a collection. Thanks for the video Roger, Toots!
OH MY GOSH! In america, these are pretty hard to find, they came in red and grey and were branded as a dirt devil I. Don't have the model numbers for the grey and red ones anymore but these things are pretty cool
Love seeing something so unique, and purple seems a very British color! (The new Rolls-Royce Phantom was announced recently in purple, "Belladonna", in fact). 🎅
Thank you for this it brings back so many childhood memories when I was 3 a family member bought the bosch version in a deep red and I loved it bit they had deep pile carpet and it was useless at cleaning it and you're correct it just fell to bits
Our variation in the US was sold by Dirt Devil as the "I-Cyclonic". Pretty much the exact same machine, just in the famed Dirt Devil red. I remember seeing this machine around, as well as a demo on HSN, I believe, and I always thought it was an interesting design. Not sure how well they sold here; probably not very well, given the fact that they're a hard thing to find.
The Techies World I remember seeing the Dirt Devil I on HSN! This was also sold over here under the Vax name as well, i recalling them being sold in this purple color and in an orange color at either Sears or Macy’s.
Here in the US this was a Dirt Devil called the i-Cyclonic. I’ve never seen one but I’d love to get one. It’s weird because Dirt Devil is one of the lowest of the low brands but these seemed “premium” compared to other DD models.
i just came across one of thoughs vax vx3 machines that was us spec on ebay! Certainly not a common animal on this side of the pond. Also saw a us hoover telios, i was surprised to see both british market machines over here.
Different and quirky probably not greatest performance but a nice keeper, looks like power 3 filter, the lovely type which choke in a matter of minutes of use.
That front wand reminded me of another type of vacuum, the way the hose fitted down inside it - yes, the SEBO X4, however, this Vax VX3 would not be around after 10 years or so of use, unlike a SEBO X4, in fact, as you said, it would probably have started falling apart after a few months use for the average Joe Public that bought it to use as an everyday vacuum. That cone filter, once it started blocking up would reduce the performance of the mini turbo tool to make it next to being useless, as you demoed it and it wasnt very good on your carpets and that was with the cone filter clean and unused.
I think I demonstrated it briefly in a Christmas video but its not something I would recommend unless you want it for a collection as I doubt it would last very long if used regularly.
@ibaisaic would be added to my collection, occasionally used maybe once a week or something, got 2 DC05s 1 purple and lime and the other red and silver, Vax mach air, Dc41 animal, proaction CJ032, Titan wet and dry, small collection but its a collection 😂
my nan had a vax Mach air pets and family the ones with brushbar reset buttons but the brush stopped working and the reset button didn't work now she has a shark
