Same. I’ve played several guitars that were top-notch, but the Jem 7V remains the best guitar I’ve ever played, and it was also at a Guitar Center. Really wish I’d had the cash to snag it at that time before they were discontinued.
Hey Dave! I love your videos! Keep it up! I'm glad you filmed this. You've inspired me to pick up a squier classic vibe 60s strat, and that alone has inspired me to play more! So thank you!
Absolutely gorgeous guitar. Every time I watch one of your videos I'm blown away. You inspire me so much to keep on learning when my fingers are cramping from trying to contort them into a G chord lol. Thank you so much :)
Sooo glad I have found your channel. Just keep on picking vids and your playing is just what the ears ordered. Have a good weekend, thanks for starting mine so well. :)
I'm only at the ten minute mark and this jam has already put a big smile on my face. Awesome, awesome stuff Dave. Love the chord changes in the backing track too, definitely a different flavor of gravy today! 🤘🤘🤘
I love your ambient stuff Dave! 24 mins (ish) in! I'm hoping to learn to play things like that soon 😀 thank you for your musical gifts of boundless emotion and joy 😀
Dave, as I have a love for Ibanez guitars it's great to see/hear what they are capable of in your hands. Thanks for the video. Hope to see much more with this guitar.
Man as much as I love all the melodic stuff and the JF-esque Simpson playing that also inspires me to play .... this is what really gets me going, your playing here and the doppelgänger Video are some of the stuff I appreciate on different level, it’s more up tempo and just energetic, 1000 times better than a red bull... you have it all in your locker dude ... you inspire me to aspire to another level... Full on Friday rocking ! Cheers Dave !
The fan, hair in the wind blowing was hilarious and awesome!! The playing was spectacular!! That guitar sounds fantastic too!! The smile you had at the end was nice to see Dave. I think you have bonded with that one for sure!!
Dave, You are out of this world Brother. The Jam You did was Mind blowing. Have a Great Friday and get that rest. it always feels better when You are energized. Have a Great Weekend too. God Bless You and All Your Family. Thank You for sharing Your Amazing Playing with us All.
i've been binge watching vai, satriani, Prince, and tolsin abasi guitar compilations and happen to come across this video. Bro you are sick! so happy i didn't skip this video.
I wonder if Dave realizes how many of his viewers probably get some of their warmest greetings in life from him, via a youtube channel. I always appreciate his enthusiastic hellos! :)
Son, I've been watching your videos for a while now. This is your best work Young Sir. The Musical Composition you put together...that was very impressive, and well thought out. And even if it wasn't..it sounded like it. I've been playing since 86' at 12 years old...it's hard to impress me. That performance...well done Brother, well done*
Dave wow. i am a huge Vai fanboi and absolutely loved your fair and honest review of an iconic sig guitar - massively excellent job playing (as always)!🤘🖤😎🔥 cheers!
Lol love the way the fan is making your hair blow in the wind, not corny at all, even if it was a close up in slow motion still wouldn't be corny. Awesome playing. And looks a lot of fun. You're the man Dave!
Bro I just got a Jem Jr and stumbled upon your channel looking for tuning tutorials, I'm subscribing because of how beautiful you play. It's absolutely heart melting...
Thanks for the awesome review. You make her sing so well dude! You have given me confidence in my new purchase! I think I need to adjust the neck on mine as I'm hearing some buzzing from the fret board, but other than that it sounds beautiful. Those Quantum pick ups are fantastic! 🤘🤘 Keep on rocking!
Just picked up an Ibanez RG4EX1 for CHEAP CHEAP. It had been just sitting in a corner or around somewhere neglected and forgotten about for who knows how long, strings were so tetanus it was frightening and the frets so tarnished. It's all cleaned up now and set up and i forgot what a pain the floating trems were to set up (haven't had one in since 88-89) but it is truly awesome. Seen the vid with the review you did of the Rev. Willy's #7's and decided to try them on it and absolutely love them.
Superb playing Dave. I hope someone gets this vid to Mr Vai so he can book you on the next G3 jaunt as and when this malarkey (finally) runs out of steam. The G3 crowd would LOVE you doing this stuff every night.
I've got a mid range RG Ibanez and the tonal range is amazing. I also love the 'wizard' neck, but it takes a little getting used to. Awesome video, Dave. Thank you. :)
I was sold on the fan instantly, ordered my new fan online....can't wait to get it in! Got a white fan like in the video.....with the white binding around the shroud. Amazing fan.....really.
Ummmm.... Wow. That is all really. Dave, you looked SO happy playing that Jem and I gotta say, the windblown look makes me (as a baldy) jealous as hell. Completely different side to you than we're used to seeing on here. Loved it.
Hey there Dave I just bought this guitar for $399.00 at Guitar Center today. It came with a hard shell case and DiMarzio DP 158FW G humbuckers neck and bridge. I've always wanted to own the jem and I finally have one. It feels great in the hands super light thin neck and a beautiful sound. Dude that guitar is you man I love your playing.
I had one for a few months, a couple of years ago, sold it as I couldn't be bothered with fine tuning the Floyd ... still regretting it, the neck was simply amazing. Note to self not to give up that easily on a guitar in the future! 😅 Totally love your playing and say hello to your n.1 fan 🤣
Killer jam! Had to put the cans on and turn it up to 11! First time viewer and instant subscriber. It should be law that you have to pull out a fan whilst playing any Steve via axe! I really want that feeling of being able to play my emotions on the guitar..........
Love your playing as always and I'm glad you have a new guitar you love, but personally I can't do flashy floyd guitars. It's the looks not the sound of it, plus floyds are a pain in the ass even when they work 😆 great video as always 🍻
Hey Dave, got a chance to listen last night, I always save videos for later watching, really enjoyed watching you play. You are truly an engineer of the many facets of your chosen craft in life. Watching you express yourself reminds me of an old movie with Christopher Walken and Natalie Wood ... Brainstorm 1981. In the film, there's a machine which can record brainwaves so that others can experience them. Natalie Wood puts a recorder unit on and deftly plays a JS Bach (or Mozart) piano piece while her husband Christopher Walken experiences her brainwaves. He is apparently exhilarated and then says "I've always wanted to know what it was like to play like that". In an odd way, watching you play is like that... because you are enjoying it so much, there seems no pretension, one can almost feel the "brainwaves". It's possible Charlie as well as many other lifemates are smiling as you play. Enjoy life! :-) Sorry for the ramble, John
SNAP! I own one of these too and can confirm it's a fantastic guitar! Bit fiddly with the floyd if you're not used to setting them up. But if a clumsy idiot like me can manage it then anyone can. Love the pick-ups in the Jem Jr. Particularly with the option for single coil tones on the five way selector. So many tonal opportunities just on the guitar itself. If you're that kinda player who likes to roll down the volume for cleans etc, this guitar does that and more. Plays great, sounds great, looks great. Total package. Looking forward to hearing it more in your hands. Rock on Dave! ✌
Agreed! This was one of Dave’s finest performances IMO, and that’s saying a lot. Would love to see him feature this guitar more. There seems to be a very special connection with it.
I thought I was going to replace my trem on my jem jr, but honestly it's holding up really nice, tuners as well. Great guitar, glad I bought it. A year in now of owning it and it still great.✌
I've wanted one of those forever, Keep hold of that dave amazing guitar and i think Ibanez make the best necks in the world they are really fast and smooth and refined. Amazing Guitar Dave that has to be a keeper. can you remember me talking about the jem some time ago?
Thought I Was? But I Guess New Subscriber? From Burbank, Ca, 🙄 Been Watching A Long Time. Love The Andertons Vid & Wow Your Playing Keeps Getting Better.😁 Awesome New Guitfiddle. I Want One. I Got The RG7321 7 Stringer for $500 So I Wont Cry To Hard? 😥 But One Day? Keep Up The Awesomeness. 😁
i love ibanez, and i love the thin necks. im quite surprised with that as im used to strats and lp shapes necks, but the neck feels so good. only thing ive changed is the bridge, which i repplaced with a genuine floyd rose keeping the original pegs in. great guitars
Going to order the yellow very soon. I've obviously made the right decision. Nice white one....but they say the yellow ones play WAY better. 😄 Amazing playing. New sub. 🙋♂️
After watching and listening carefully to this video, I think that the sound of this guitar might be between (it is a very personal opinion though) a Stratocaster and a Gibson, fatter than a Strat thinner than a Gibson...and I am very impressed by its clean sound... A-ma-zing, yes, indeed. The bridge and nut with that system, by Floyd Rose, has always been very popular (especially at the beginning of the 90's) but in my experience, I helped just once a friend change the strings of his guitar, it took me ages and, in few words, I wouldn't like to repeat it (different folks... different strokes)... The one and only thing missing from this video (to make this superb performance an unbelieveble and surrealistic experience) is ... (Oh gosh... I don't know if I should say it, O.K. let's go) Is that, after the whole performance, at the end of the video, the cam focused on the Count Orlok (the poster hanging on the wall) and this character came to life and said (with a strong cockney accent): -"Hey dudes, what'cha're looking at??? I'm like you... Scared to death!!!" But apart from that, grrreat guitar and magnificent performance... In fact, It is... Thumbs up...
Man I would love to hear you play this guitar today in 2023 with better recording quality than this video had. Maybe with some better pickups in the guitar as well, perhaps something like a Dimarzio Super Distortion in the Bridge and a Seymour Duncan Jazz SH-2N, a PAF-PRO or Sentient in the neck. That would truly make my day or even month :) I am buying this guitar and adding some of those pickups to it I have not really decided yet which ones would suit best. I am going to play a lot of Maiden on it that's for sure. This guitar right now in Europe is under 500€, I really can not think of a better versatile guitar for that cheap, so I will have money left over for better pickups and locking tuners if it even needs it. Also a black pickguard on a white guitar is a must and the pickups will the zebra black & white color. Looking forward to playing this beast after watching this video!
@Dave Simpson If you were to compare the Ibanez Edge locking tremolo on this guitar to a Floyd Rose Special (the imported cheapest Floyd Rose) Would you say the Ibanez one is better quality and does it hold the tuning better ? I have heard a lot of negative about the Floyd Rose Special not always holding its tuning and that people have to adjust that tremolo even after just one long playing session. How have the Ibanez system treated you ? Do you need to adjust it a lot and intonate the guitar often after playing and using it a lot like in this video ?
