I bought an Indonesian S470 over 3 years ago as a "stopgap" until I decided which megabucks guitar was going to replace a 90s USA Hamer. Its an incredible guitar for the price.The place I bought it from had it set up beautifully. Nothing goes wrong it with despite incessant noodling. On the other hand I have to play my Fender Tele at least once a week to keep me honest because the S470 is just so easy to play. Still haven't bought the megabucks guitar.

The ibanez headstock is the only superstrat headstock which gets it right. Suhr might have super rare woods and unmatched tone but their headstock is fugly.

There's actually an Ibanez guitar without a Floyd or Edge,the Andy Timmons signature models have a Wilkinson tremolo,similar with the ones on the MusicMan's or PRS's.I've seen Andy doing some cool stuff with the tremolo life & the guitar stays in tune pretty fine.

Because they're guitar players! As a bass player, you should know that playing bass and playing guitar is far from the same. You might know the notes but it's a technique thing switching between the two!

Sam Harding your left hand technique is similar to guitarists but the difference between guitarists and bassists technique wise is the picking hand I believe :)

Why in the world don't you review Peavey Vyper VIP 3 amps?????? Is it because you don't sell them?????? C'mon Rob tons of people are buying them with the optional Sandpera 2 foot pedal controller. Be ethical now, it's the right thing to do. ;o)

You got it exactly right. Chappers will not review them because Andertons doesn't carry Peavey products. I can't wait for the Vypyr Pro to be available. It is going to absolutely smoke every other modeling amp on the market.

The only difference is the EQ setting knobs are labled Coo, Moan and Cry and there is a " after the numbers on the volume knob. The Bazzer cabinets come with Booty-back speakers for that extra thump in the bass.

As for Ibanez. I love my Artcore AS73. Mostly because it plays better than the epi dots & I can't afford a real 335. Slap in some upgraded PAF's and off you go: ) Great guitar IMO.

Definitely bring back the marks out of ten! Though perhaps it shouldn't be based on every guitar you've played, but on guitars in the same price bracket ie under £500, £500-£1000, £1000-£1500 ect. I think that would make the scores a lot fairer because you're not comparing a £350 Ibanez to a guitar 10 times the price, for example.

I love these thin style bodies, though not in either of the colours shown. Adam Ironside has a beautiful one in natural wood grain finish (similar to ML1) that looks amazing. I'd love to have that one based on looks alone, though not really a fan of the Ibanez brand. certainly like to give one a try to see how the slim body feels.

I have the 2001 S Model with the TRS-101 Floyd Rose Trem and it Works Perfect. And The Wizard lll neck. Seymour Duncan SH 4 in the Bridge. Smoking Guitar. Play through a Peavey Ultra Plus 120 head.. Tone Monster !!!!!!!!

Guess 400£ EDIT: That was close! :-) Comment: I like your vids, but what does e.g. Ibanez think when another guitar maker (Chapman) say that this and that is bad :-) .....I like that Chappers say that this is bad. I also understand that he can not say everything is bad because Cap10 have bought the guitars and should try to sell them. I am the lucky owner of a Ibanez S520EX BBK, made in Japan, with 2 humbuckers (V1 & V2) and the vintage "Edge" Floyd Rose Tremolo, 22 frets and wizard neck and it's one of my most fav guitars. Yowser!!!!

C'mon boys, tell them how light those things are! Show them the pickup switching!! & Robert, Vai & Herman Li use that HSH configuration, thank you vary much. I have the Herman Li EGEN8 & I love it. I don't know about these, but mine has a coil tap on the volume. Is sounds vary Stratty taped & sounds like a slightly brighter SG with the humbuckers. Awesome neck. Slightly thicker than the original Wizard & a bit wider at the nut than a Jem.

S671 because of the hardtail bridge, S670 because of the Edge Tremolo system this is how Ibanez comes up with model numbers for guitars: last digit is "0" if the guitar has a whammy bar, "1" for fixed bridge anyway, S Series = sexiest guitars on the planet indeed. thanks for posting

I agree with him about the middle pickup. I have an S570MQM and that's really the only gripe I have with it. You have to modify the way you pick a bit to not hit the middle pickup....or buy a version without the middle pickup. I never use it anyway.

Hey Rob, I'm a proud owner of an Ibanez s770pb i love playing it without it being pugged, because i hate the pickups, to me they sound kinda flat, i need to put too much drive and gain for them to be able to get that in your face rock-metal tone. Plus i feel they're kinda trebly, so i like playing the more Funky stuff on it, what pickups do you think would work very well for that in your face rock tone, spanking leads and nice funky sound on that guitar?? Looking forward to hearing from you.

Rob I feel like you should make your delay a little shorter on the repeats, it seems like you have it set up to repeat a phrase instead of warming up a line you're currently playing. OBVIOUSLY it is probably your preference but that's just my 2 cents.

How is the sustain on the hardtail (without insane amounts of gain)? I have an S-540 and it's somewhat disappointing. I also always lower the middle pickups because of my picking positions - also usually like the sound better when the pickups are not too hot / close to the strings.

Herman Li of Dragonforce fame has his middle pickup wound a lot hotter than normal and then lowered so that it's almost flush with the body, in turn solving Rob's only criticism of these guitars :)

the best guitars ive ever played were ibanez rg520qs... i now have four of them. they are just superb. japan sure did it right with those ones.. not too big on the indonesian ones... the wood is too young and the necks are too fat. lol

I usually never hate on videos but those are some paper thin cardboard guitars right there. I can't hold it in anymore. You are literally paying for a lesser guitar than most other electric guitars. There's no wood on them and they sound thin and lifeless to me. I have played several Ibanez guitars and they have all had fret buzz and were set up really poorly. Their jazz guitars are good though!

The 'vinyl record' finish thing is probably from the manufacturing process where the pole pieces are made from long lengths of steel bar. I assume that the round marks are where have been parted off using a lathe, rather than being cut with a saw. The probably wanted a diameter which had a tight tolerance and needed to be ground to size first.

hey i might be trading towards an ibanez soon, an rg450dx if the store still has it. i dont have the money for a premium or prestige or anything super, but does anyone know weather the 450dx is a good guitar? i play metal and some rock. only thing about that guitar that might be an issue is the neck... not sure how it will be in my hands, weather it might cause any cramps in my hand or not. other than that, i have heard that guitar is decent, so... yeah. anyone got any word on it?

I guess having the middle pickup depends on the person who plays it. I put all my three pickups flush against the guitar with the humbuckers slightly higher than the single. Gives more sustain.

Ibanez S bodies are the only logical choice for small people. It is a great difference for us wee folk to not feel like you are carrying a sledge hammer.
