We were at this resort about 10 years ago. I love this resort. The beach is still the nicest I’ve seen. We would lounge out on pier every day. After watching this, I want to go back.
excellent video insight and tour of this resort. We have been around the globe and Cuba is our 2nd home (been to most cities in cuba) as the hospitality is always appreciate it. We are heading back in July, and looking at the following key factors for our trip: Beach (no rocks), privacy is vital, room and entertainment, yeah food is important but not critical. Keep up the great work!!
I love these older resorts, lots of character to them and I love the different colors for the buildings. Cayo Guillermo is a beautiful area to travel to.😀🌞
Thank you for showing the food. We always wanted to go to Cuba but people said the food is not good. Love watching all your videos, you are very clear with everything
Some people say Cuba is at the bottom for food followed by Dominican Republic and then Mexico. Cuba comes with benefits though (usually awesome beaches and great safety).
Hi Finding Fish, thank you for your amazing work, I never miss one of your videos, all are amazing. I would like to ask you to do some reviews of the new hotels the cays of Holguín, I have hear that the most of them were built recently in the 2019 - 2020s. Greetings and thank you
Thx Mike for your vidéos.i also have been to Cuba over 50 times and your vidéos are so true and very well made and your voice is very satisfying to listen to.keep it up
It started snowing here right now, it changed from rain to snow in less than two minutes, but it won't amount to anything with the temperature we have today.
This one is in our top 3 for this years Cuba trip, never been to this one, your videos are so helpful and honest and that we really appreciate, thank you so much
It is -30 Celsius here in the Yukon Canada, so this was a nice treat for me to watch. Brought back so many memories of my time in Cayo Coco a few years ago. Cuba has the best beaches in the world and the people are so kind but yes, many shortages in Cuba and the people have suffered. I stayed at the Melia, a resort that I would recommend. The food was delicious and healthy ,I never got sick even from drinking the tap water. Thanks again for this wonderful video.😊😊😊
We stay there in 2017 3 months after the Irma hurricane and let me tell you the hussle to fix everything and replant and rebuild and we really enjoy it there we had the most relax vacation it’s a part Cayo Guillermo that there is always wind there so perfect for kite surf
Hola Mike….we Love your videos my friend, we actually back to Cuba after 22 years Thanks to you and your wife. Keep it up Amigo !! Thank you Again 🥂🇨🇦🇦🇷
Mike!!! You just found my new paradise!!! WOW !!! that beach, the white sand… Totally out of this World!! Last time I saw a beach like that was in Thailand and Sarasota FL. Thanks for taking us with ya!! 🙏🏼 my next for sure. See ya in the next video 👏🏽✌️ Cheers 🍻
I gotta admit those fries looked good. Always happy to see the Churro cart (when we went to Cuba the food was bland so it was nice to have Churros for desert occasionally).
Was there last year in April. Had a lot of fun and meet great people. The staff was great. The only thing we ran out while vacationing was RUM for 2 days lol. Either that was awesome times.
Yah it was very windy and rainy most days but very hot the other days other than that it was great. No complaints only shortages were no eggs at buffet only Diamond club no dark soda but other than that they had tons of proteins everything working even the store was fully stocked some people were complaining but complainers are complainers lol
The mosquitoes love me but I’m allergic to them and I swell up and one of the ways I deal with that is a hot shower but I do find that the saltwater helps a little bit as well. I just bring calamine lotion and Benadryl. so I can get some sleep.
We absolutely love your videos, keep em coming! You have encouraged us to go back to Cuba next year but we are already booked for Cabarete, DR this year. Will you ever do videos of the DR?
Enjoy DR I’m in Thailand right now making a series of videos, Then London UK Then Back to Cuba!!! Hopefully 8 more Resorts this years!!! Lots of videos Thanks for watching Mike
This place looks great, been to Cuba four or five times, but not here. The food looks good, the buildings look really nice the beach is amazing, might just be going there after Christmas, great video, thank you so much
Headed there on Feb 1st thank you for the very timely review, will be watching with interest how your week goes. Let's see you get that kiteboarding lesson, it's a terrific location for beginners and intermediates and for those like you just lookin for a good beach, nice coffee and we sip of rum. If you get a chance I've been trying to reach the front desk to check on my room location near to kite area. the advertized phone number goes nowhere.
If that Rooster was making a ton of noise when the sun was starting to come up, he would end up on the beach grill real fast! lol. Great video, thx again Fish.
Hey Mike, love all of your videos. You seem to have a lot of recently travel experience to Cuba, wondering if you can speak on the food shortages Cuba is facing? Is it only in certain areas of Cuba? Are the budget friendly hotels getting the scraps and products going to the higher end resorts? My partner and I were in Santa Maria last March and love it, although he mostly survived on giant omelets. Now I'm hearing that basics like eggs, chicken etc are becoming harder to get at resorts. We love the beaches just as you and Jenn do but the food shortages are making us look for another vacation spot. Thanks in advance for any tips you may have!
Great FYI video Mike! Where is your home airport? I fly out of YXU. We can do direct flights to Cayo Coco taking off at a reasonable time. Love your honest content! Cheers!
Thanks for your review. This resort looked really good, plenty of foot choices, the gym, nice beach, not crowded, no flies on the food etc. Did you get WiFi in your room or only lobby ? Was AC okay not smelly ? I prefer cool night sleep ? Would you rather stay here or Memories Caribe ?
Thanks for watching! John, the Gym was Old, (it was just ok), beach and Resort was Quiet! I had Wifi in my room but went out from time to time!!! My AC was good!!! To Cold, I had to shut it off!!!! My bed was Comfy, and i had good quality food at this resort!!!! I Like Both Resorts, this one is Probably a little quieter!!!! I’havent been to Caribe in a few months!!! But if you get a deal, and if the food quality stays high you'll have fun a both... Caribe has many more night life!!!
We are going here in Feb/25 .. we've been to Cayo Coco before ..1st time to this resort .. ONLY thing Im worried about is all of the worrisome posts about the flies and roaches in the buffet ??? Can you speak to this ? what was your experience ?
Don’t worry about it!!!!!! People are nuts!!!!! You’ll have a good time!!! There might be few flys, You’re in the tropics!!! Don’t read that stuff, Don’t let it wreak your trip before you get there!!’
@@Finding-Fish thank you my friend ! That's what I was hoping you'd say ! Weve been to Cube at least14 times..mostly in Holguin but man oh man ppl were talking biblical plauges with the flies and cockroaches in the buffett ! lol .. thanks again !
Hi man ! I've been following you for a while and thank to your dedication of doing this videos help us to decide the best place and resorts so thak you Sir !! But my question is what about for celiac ppl 🤔 😮 ?? Gluten allergy 🤧
When you said whole resort has wifi. Did the rooms have them too? Because I went to some places which claimed they had wifi but it was only the lobby 😅
Did you like your stay at this resort ? We have been to Holgiun a few times which is lovely but since there are no longer direct flights from Winnipeg - we thought we’d give Cayo Coco area a shot booked this one April 6🤞🏼in the video it looked decent ! Good job too by the way
@@Finding-Fishthanks mike!! Keep up the great videos - I showed my 16 year son this video so he could get idea of where we’re going - he said you did a great job !😊
Love ❤ your channel. I just got back from Valentin Santa Maria. Did you see the beach at Valentin?? OMG #1 beach ⛱️ in Cuba just got back Jan 7 2024. Did you check out the Gran Muthu in Holguin. That's my next Cuba 🇨🇺 trip, that place looks amazing.
@@Finding-Fish My first trip to Cuba was Club Buccanro 1988. I'm no Cuba expert. But I've been to many nice Cuban resorts over the years since 1988. And I keep going every year, I love ❤️ Cuba.
Hi Mike, I am one of your subscribers for 3 weeks now as I really appreciate your work ! Just one question about this ressort : did you meet any russians while you were there ? Thanks !
@@Finding-Fish Thanks again ! I am planning à trip at this hôtel shortly. Last question: how are the cigars? Is there any authorized cigar Shop as Casa del habano, or other? Best regards.
Hola Mike, Awesome to see you have over 5K Subscribers.. Congratulations 🎉 Did you get a chance to go snorkel like we chatted about? I remember walking down the beach from the resort I was at to snorkel there at Daiquiri... many varieties of fish hanging out underneath the dock..even saw a couple barracuda. I went there multiple days and one time I saw an absolutely huge stingray just sitting on the bottom...could barely make out the shape...however when I went closer to *try and take a selfie it took off like a rocket. Must have been at least 5 feet wide if not more. I need to post up that video soonish. Enjoy your time away and would love to see some snorkel videos one day. Gracias mi amigo ♥️🇨🇺
Hello! It seems as though there is a lot of grass/seaweed in the ocean. I’m trying to choose between this place and the Iberostar ensenachos Santa Maria. Which beach would you say is nicer?
In the past we have taken the bus from Cayo Coco to affiliated resorts at Cayo Guillermo for the day. Hang out on the beach and enjoy the piers off the beach. Last month I was told this is no longer allowed. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
Ya I believe it frowned upon!!! It seems Resorts doesn’t want the Responsibility of keeping track of somebody that hasn’t paid to say there!!! And there are other reasons!!!
A few years back, if you stayed at Melia Cayo Guillermo you could book a day at the affiliated Melia Cayo Coco (and vica-versa). The same was true for the Sol Cayo Guillermo and the Sol Cayo Coco It was actually encouraged by both Melia & Sol b/c it was a way to promote their 'sister' resorts. It was seamless, you just went to the front desk at the resort you stayed, and they issued you day pass wrist band. You arranged your own transportation (bus / taxi). You could stay all day, enjoy the beach / bars / lunch buffet / etc. at the other resort. The only exclusions I remember were 1) no dinner 2) limited to one visit per 7 days. It's no longer available because in 2020 both Melia & Sol withdrew their management of the two resorts in Cayo Guillermo, therefore there's longer an affiliated resort to visit from Cayo Coco to Cayo Guillermo. Hope this helps with the original question about the day trips to the affiliated resorts.
I don’t know if you have ever addressed this i have watched several of your videos and i don’t recall. Would you?could you address the tipping issue? What do Canadians need to tip with? We typically tip with Canadian toonies and loonies and exchange with staff for Canadian 5’s 10’s etc Many people argue that Cubans want American cash yet we have been asked by staff to exchange american dollars for Canadian Please advise
Tryp likes to have lots of Fun! Good vibe and good party!!! Daiquiri is a little more chill, quieter!!! Daiquiri rooms are nicer, Both are small resort Both have good quality of food!! Tryp has more alcohol selection
Hey Mike! Great vid. Was wondering, who do you book these trips through? I have been finding lots of companies only book in 2's, and i have a group of 5 that are interested in going to Cuba soon. Thanks!
