A "spurt" sound isn't something you ever want to hear from your monitor...
I knew I wasn't going to get away with leaving it shifting between blue and red for long, but I didn't think it would be this short.
If I had seen the cap on the connector board for the CRT initially then I wouldn't have had to take the whole thing apart. But I kind of wanted to get an overview of what was going on inside anyway so I don't mind the extra work having been put in. But if yours blows a color cap you can easily avoid the most difficult part of removing the tube.
I'm happy with how this turned out. I will be getting better capacitors later for it, but it isn't a rush. I think I made all the colors a bit dim on the adjustment on the back of the tube. That's probably why it seemed so much darker afterwards. Really, I should have done the calibrations at about 75% brightness. Oh well, it's not too difficult to get to that so I can always fix it later.
