Ibn Arabi expounds how the unknown God as the Absolute Mystery can be known at last. Ibn Arabi, on this video as I present, clearly explains that the self-manifestation of God (tajalli) is the key role how God as the Absolute Mystery can be known by us or by all creatures. The self-manifestation of God or self-disclosure of God (in Arabic: tajalli) completely indicates that God in the absolute nothingness desired or longed or loved to be known, so that God revealed Himself to Himself, none other than this cosmos itself, as understood by Ibn Arabi. In respect to the negativity of God according to Ibn Arabi, click this • Ibn Arabi - Negative T... .

Another fantastic video. Thank you. The later part of it, when you mention the identification of some sufis with Al Haqq mirrors Meister Eckhart revelations, where he goes to the point of talking about equality between humans´s deepest essence and the Godhead´s.

Hmm so Ibn Arabi openly does tashbih.. how is that reconciled with "there is nothing like Him" I'm struggling with this 😭
@PerennialWisdom
@PerennialWisdom 2 года назад
We should understand the similarity of God in the context of "the possibility of God to be known by others". If God were impossible to know, all concepts in religions would be nothing. Conceptually, even if we've put God in the bracket of "the total transcendence", actually we are still being trapped in the similarisation of God to "our concept". Furthermore, this tahsbhih of Ibn Arabi is only a half of his mystical view. The rest of it is also emphasised by Ibn Arabi when he is talking the incomparability of God. Simply, he wrote in his poem on these two sides: If you hold on to the tanzih, you bind it. if you hold on to tashbih, you limit it. If you hold on both aspects, you are right : the leader and the master in spiritual knowledge. Whoever holds to the duality of God and nature is a polytheist. Meanwhile, those who hold to the separation of God from nature erroneously perceive God [in the context of tawhid]. Beware of tashbih if you assert duality. And beware of tanzih if you assert oneness.

@@PerennialWisdom Ok I see, they are both necessary then. So from what I am reading, Ibn Arabi categorized God's attributes into Beauty and Majesty or Wrath and Mercy. In which those of wrath are tanzih (including King, Independent and Holy). While he turns his Mercy attributes towards the creation, so tashbih for these. This is from syed nasr's book but maybe I am misunderstanding this. What do you think? JazakAllah khayr brother, I'm so happy I found this channel
@PerennialWisdom
@PerennialWisdom 2 года назад
Yes, it is. His Jalaliyya (Wrath) depicting His tanzih (because we perceive God as the far from us) must be completed by His Jamaliyyah (Mercy) depicting His tashbih (because we perceive God as the intimate to us), in order for us to comprehend God in His Jamaliyyah (Perfectness). Roughly speaking, His Jalaliyya manifests in Judaism, whereas His Jamaliyya in Christianity (even though this is very general opinion). And, Islam contains both at once. So am I. Nice meeting you :)

Tanzih is: "He neither begets nor is He begotten, and there is nothing to which He can be compared." Tashbih is: "Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, the Beneficent, the Merciful, King of the Day of Judgment." He is LIKE a Lord, LIKE a King. In addition the Qur'an (16:60) says: "Allah's is the Highest Likeness," also translated as "Allah may be likened to whatever is loftiest." So the Qur'an itself declares both the Transcendence and the Immanence of Allah, both Tanzih and Tashbih, both His Incomparability and Comparability. Start by accepting this, submitting to this, whether or not you understand it. Then (insha'Allah) you will begin to understand it. Because He is beyond all forms He is limited by none of them; because He is limited by none of them He can manifest Himself through all of them. If we think that any form or event is ultimately a sign of anything other than Allah, then we have assigned a partner to Him; we have committed shirk. That's the essence of wahdat al-wujud.

God as Outward corresponds to the Logos of the Trinity, whereas God as Inward corresponds to the Holy Spirit. The Father is God as The One Transcendent. These three are identical in Essence, however.

@@PerennialWisdom Utterly brilliant video :) For those who have had a unitary experience, what you say here will be familiar to them. I have been asked this question twice by Muslims and really had to pause and reflect on my answer, given the nuances involved. If you would answer this, I'd be very grateful. 'Do we have to run parallel with the Creator?' ... I will add a short answer for orientation purposes. It depends on one's state of consciousness. In my ordinary state, my panentheism works as it shows our relationship to Him. Symbiotic and reciprocal. He beats my heart and 'breathes' me when I am not actively focussed on it. Active/passive. He maintains/sustains my liver and I nudge things along by supplementing it and being healthy. In a unitary state, we feel no separation. I have much more to say but your video really resonated with me. Any response would be greatly appreciated :)
@PerennialWisdom

@@Seanus32 Thanks for your sharing. I would like to answer that not only does He affect us, but our awareness of His undeniable presence also affects how and in what form He is manifest. In our rational consciousness, we undeniably make duality, He and not-He, even plurality, He and many things; but when we affirm, and then have only affirmed His existence, our I-ness is obliterated. Certainly, in that unitary state, hardly do we run parallel without the Creator. :)
@Seanus32
@Seanus32 2 года назад
@@PerennialWisdom I agree with that :) Many Muslims don't accept that He exists within His Creation but I find that to be absurd. As a panentheist, it is obvious to me that He is part of the universe. What do you think about that? Many thanks for your answer btw :)

@PerennialWisdom Год назад
The Sufis have their own method how to verify a Hadith. Many unauthentic hadiths in al-Ghazali's Ihya, but they are authentic as long as we use the conventional 'ulum al-hadith. Al-Ghazali didn't use the conventional one.

@@PerennialWisdom i didnt know about this but Imam Al Iraqi said his book has a lot of false hadiths Ibn Taymiyyah said, "This neither belongs to the words of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, nor was it reported through an authentic or weak chain of narrators.” Az-Zarkashi, Al-Haafith ibn Hajar, As-Suyooti, and other scholars agreed upon that. why would our sufi brothers ignore chain of transmission? i think we should be careful with that and always say Allahu Alem
