IC-7100 from A to Z #8 Memories Part 2 

I know some folks with 891’s. They are nice radios. I haven’t had the chance to listen to the two radios side by side. So I really can’t say how the receivers compare.

And there are a few program scan start and end memories, but yes, that’s basically it for standard memories. There are also the DR (D-Star Repeater) mode memories. There are 900 memories available for that. Icom provides a file in a proprietary format. (.ICS) to program those memories. I don’t believe they’ve updated the file since 2016. You can program these memories with your own list using software from RT-Systems (no affiliation). The memories are intended for D-Star repeaters, but I believe with the RT systems software you can also program analog FM frequencies as well. I don’t believe you can store any HF frequencies in the DR memories.

Congrats on the newly minted license! I have a long way to go on this series yet. In the mean time, you might want to check out the IC-7300 A to Z series on my channel. It’s a different radio for sure, but you’ll find many of the setting menu functions nearly identical to the 7100.
