IC-705 Reception during OVF (overflow) indicator blinking. OVF表示は主に夜間の受信時に点滅しますが、設定を変えながら受信状況を録画しました。取説ではOVFについて、「ディスプレイにOVFが表示され、受信に影響する場合は、RFゲインの調整、アッテネータ機能を使用して下さい」とだけ記載があります。アンテナは1/2波長フルサイズ逆Vです。
The instruction manual explains only that "If OVF appears on the display and affects reception, adjust the RF gain or use the attenuator function.

even with ADC over flow, it still sound good. I guess, that is the one of the problem with Direct ADC conversion receiver. having first IF filter does help in this case. without Pre Amp and not so good antenna like mine, probably never have to worry about overloading ADC limits. AG6JU

Thanks for watching! A passive preselector might improve the OVF blinking. but if the settings are changed so that the OVF does not blink, it will not be a problem in use. I think the OVF indicator may be just a reference for ADC operation.
