A 10-minute behind the scene "Landing the Jump" of Ice Castle 2010, the remake of 1978. Starring Taylor Firth, Rob Mayes. Original Creator and Cast: Donald Wyre, Lynn-Holly Johnson With notable Figure Skating figures: David Wilson, Sandra Bezic, Michelle Kwan. This featured in DVD extras of Ice Castles 2010.
IMDB mentioned that Lynn was to have a cameo in the 2010 remake, but her part was edited and put in DVD extras. However, I didn't find one in deleted scene.
I do not own this copyright video. The credit are belonged to their respective owners.

I'VE SEEN THIS NEW VERSION AND IT DOESN'T HAVE EVEN A GLIMPSE OF THE SOUL AND EMOTION THE 1978 HAS. I UNDERSTAND TIMES HAVE CHANGED BUT THE SPIRIT OF THE OLD MOVIE SHOULD BE PRESERVED.

Same. No one could bring that unforced character portrayals like the original actors. I sat here and watched the ending. Something I haven’t done in years. I still sobbed like a five year old; just like I did in 1978. I wish I could have shared this with my beautiful, sensitive son before he passed away. He would have cried right along with me. ❤

IMO, Lynn Holly Johnson's skating was more fluid, and more joyful. Maybe it was a difference in filming or editing. But, you don't see a "halt" when setting up a move. Halt really isn't the right word, but she goes seamlessly from one move to the next. And those leaps are just so full of joy. Love it.❤

The 1978 version has so much innocence, so much story from those times all of us who were blessed to grow up in the 1970's USA had. Hands down and it is almost difficult to watch the 1978 version and still be able to breathe. The similarities to things in my life leave my heart skipping a beat and unable to catch my air. Thank you Lynn Holly, et. al., for capturing what it was to grow up, "at the lake, down the shore, in the Poconos", wherever.

Lynn Holly Johnson is in the old Disney film the watcher in the Woods and it is still very scary to me. I don’t know if I saw her and anything else besides these two movies but she had a simple innocence that her rolls needed. If you’ve never seen the 70s movie the watcher in the Woods, please find it. Too many modern Disney, movies and other horror movies rely on way too many special effects. The simply done aspects of older movies can be far more terrifying.

My parents used to say that to me back in the 80s-90s... We were talking about films like, "The Day The Earth Stood Still". My brother and I just laughed at how silly she was so terrified over the movie. Fast forward 20-30 years later, I'm telling my kids the same thing!!! I'm sure, they think I'm crazy now!!! Our films were less gore and more about mind playing. I get it now, however I will still never understand what my mom thought was so scary about "The Day The Earth Stood Still." I'm not talking about the remake. I'm talking about the original 1951 film.

Lynn-Holly Johnson is also remembered for her bit part as B.B. Dahl in the James Bond movie 'For Your Eyes Only'. 'Watcher in the Woods' is one of those Disney movies that is not suitable for young children. Johnson's performance in that movie is not overly good, either.

Relationships in 2023 isn't like they were in 2010 - and they're particularly different than they were in 1978. I watched this movie with my first gf in 1989 - and things were already different back then - but the movie still resonated with us.

I’ve seen the original so many times, I reckon I could recite it perfectly. The last skate was the absolute best ever. The remake was a load of 💩 To me, the only thing the same was her name, and she went blind. I’ve only seen it once, and that was 1 time too many. I’ve also read the book Ice Castles as a teenager. I wish the new remake of "Ice Castles" that through modern-day medical technology, Lexie has her eyesight restored to find the world of skating is world away from when she left it. And now she is given another chance to go for the national championships again. She makes it to US Nationals and Wins, but because of her age, she was denied a place on the World or Olympic team because of age. And what comes of this decision. A young skater who was less talented but has future promise was chosen over her. At the end, you see her back at her old skating rink, and at the end, slowly all those that were with her orginally were there at the end of the picture whether they are still teaching but no longer at a high status, no longer teaching or dead. And her boyfriend who left to accept a hockey player contract. Came back to once more help her, and also the coach who was sitting alone in the stands helped her return to reach her to get her National Championship all returned one time.

Original Ice Castles > Ice Castles Remake Even if Lynn-Holly Johnson’s cameo wasn’t edited out in the remake (in which they had some nerve to do), it still wouldn’t have been as popular as the original. She and Robby Benson, defined that original movie, together. ⛸🕊💙❄️🧊

Agreed, the remake is just a straight remake from front to end with minor adjustments some adjustment are good but most are bad e.g. Remove the emotional scene of Lexie & Beulah. Although the original script is outdated as of today, the skating scene in this movie was remarkable among Figure Skating films out there, and it was authentic (welp, LHJ was a skater) One crucial difference that original is better was the camerawork. Bill Butler, the Director of Photographer, filmed each skating scene with a least of camerawork and cut. He mostly stuck a camera there and let Lynn handle on her own, which made her skating shone so much. Not only the authenticity from the program, the far view also made it feel like we were sitting there. The sequence in this program fit so well with the music.THE MUSIC IS TOP-NOTCH, kudos to Marvin Hamlisch! Comparing to the remake that had a lot of cuts. Unfortunately, Taylor was also a skater, but the way they had many camera cuts made it hard for audience to see her skating skill. There may be other figure skating films that can beat it in term of script, character depth, but in term of the authentic skating feels, this movie is irreplaceable, even the remake itself.

I think for the generations who see any original of a film, that will always be better than the remake. However, for those who didn't see the original and don't have the connections to the actors and actresses of those times, the remakes might be better off with a different title and enough of a difference in stories that you can view them as two different movies. A younger generation will want to see the stars and individuals of their time who look like them and have their mannerisms and language. I haven't seen too many remakes where I preferred the remake over the original. However, I wouldn't want these younger actors/actresses to feel that their work in current times was unappreciated.

Her overly made up face!! In the original, Lexie dressed different and wore tasteful makeup after becoming more famous, but still maintained her sweetness. Never saw this version, but I will not as I loved the original and still do to this day. I was a figure skater and we all loved the original.
