This movie made me wanna ice skate so badly when I was younger, but I live in an area far away from stuff like ice rinks. And it would have cost a fortune. Doesn't that suck, when you can't do what you want to lol???
Maybe it will happen some day. Never give up on your dreams :). If it is met to happen maybe you'll be some place where there's a nice skating rank. Don't give up :)
encouraging...but unrealistic. It usually takes most athletes years to get and perfect triple jumps, not months lol XD. But I love this movie a lot too
@@RedRoseSeptember22 Even gifted skaters skate for years before they can do triples, and even then Olympians still mess them up Triples have only become really common in the last twenty years because they are difficult
your right. My youngest niece loved this to death, I actually was on a waiting list when it was available at the library, in 2005, i was getting off the bus, crossing over to the other side where my apartment was, when a car hit me, I was in a car accident, in February 1, 2005. I was in the hospital for a month or so, thanks to the doctors, they did 5 or 6 surgery on my left leg and left arm and save my life(God first). Because when i first came in the hospital and from what she told me, if i was gonna make it, i was really out of it. My family prayed around me and hours later, i woke up. And, my mom told the library what happen, and they allowed me to hold on to the ice princess movie, it had come in and was able to hold onto it a little longer and was able to watch it in the hospital the opening touched me w/ the song" No one" by aly & aj. and made me cry, they don't put that princess magic into Disney movies like that anymore. I hope this testimony touched someone. God bless.
Hannah Kramer Only olypinas can be this good. You cant learn triples in 3 mouths actually its very rare for a women to have triples. How expensive? Could you take group lessons? or skate 30 min. a week?
I also wanted to learn figure skating after watching this at 10 years old... But considering that in my whole country there are only 3 ice rinks, 2 which are private-owned, and they are 200 miles away from where I live, I gave up in my dream. I have only skated on ice like 5 times since then.
This movie inspired me to become a figure skater. Over a decade later, I’ve graduated college, and skating is still the single most important thing in my life. Thank you, Ice Princess!!! ❤️
I always loved this movie as a child. Now i’m 21, still love it. If somebodys reading this and struggling, feeling kinda lost, like me, i wish we could all achieve our dreams and be loved❤️ i relate to this movie a lot
Sometimes you can't achieve your dream, but who said that you have to had only one dream. Sometimes we have to fail to achieve a dream we never imagined.
I believe I understand where you are coming from.. I've dealt with the same with my Dad was always working and drinking owning 3 businesses Mom who left my Baseball game when I hit my first homerun ever I always fought for my dreams but moving to a better area and a brother with the same coaches I would have had in Baseball n Hockey were assholes he had a Coach in Hockey who played in the NHL team didn't perform he was abusive in street clothes take slap shots at them and a Baseball Coach who started practices on April school vacation and we always spent our week in Jamaica my Mom was a Teacher so he had a rule every practices you miss every game you won't play so 7 games missed out of a 13 game season fuck that ... If we stayed where we grew up it wouldn't have been a issue for either sports
I wanted skating after watching the movie top. My town had a ring for the first time that winter. I went and waited for hours but couldn’t get in. To this day I still never have gone to one. It reminds me of that heartache. Some dreams stay as dreams
My only regret is that I started skating for real at 33. I dabbled in it here and there...but never committed. I bought some skates recently and started lessons. I'm about to enter Freeskate in the USFS system for adults after a year.
Eh not unheard of tbf, Yuna Kim landed 2 triple lutz's in her 2009 worlds free skate but popped the triple salchow, her one error in an otherwise flawless performance.
Did anyone else notice the editor's name? Bia Potter Radcliffe? I nearly choked laughing at the irony, but that may just be my massive HP fangirl coming outXD
I had a moment similar to this as a freshman in high school. My Mom worked long hours and couldn't make it to all of my games. Once during volleyball, the variety coach was gonna watch (I was JV) and I was super nervous. Halfway through the game, it was my turn to serve (something I'm really good at). As I was walking back to my position, my Mom walked in waved and sat down to watch me play. I'll never forget that feeling of a weight being lifted off my shoulders. As long as she was there watching me, I didn't have a worry in the world. Love you Mom ❤
I hate how inaccurate it is, most of the routine is okay, but if you fall, you never just stay there, you are taught to get back up. If your seriously injured you don't and you get the ice marshall. But you also don't just stop in the middle of your program if you spot someone, that will get u deductions (same with just staying there after the fall). I still prefer the ice castles movie. (I'm a figure skater btw)
OMG I love her. She is so beautiful! Michelle Trachtenberg is an amazing actress!! After I watched "Zugzwang" on Criminal Minds I hate her character to death XD
This movie is still my must watch on the night before a big concert, competition or audition. It always reminds me that having the fire is the most important.
I first saw this when I was 6... I came over it again at 27 now in lockdown... It's so underrated.. This entire scene puts such a grin on my face... All the characters and their relationships here are finally allowed to be what they want.... "She deviated?!" "And I'll bust her for it. Tomorrow." Ha... Xx
Can any ice skaters out there tell me what that floaty fabric of her skirt is likely to be? It looks like chiffon but don't you guys usually wear stretch spandex/lycra? Baffled fashion student would greatly appreciate some opinions!!
I loved seeing this movie in theatres: went with my mom. Unforgettable moment. When she fell we knew she’d rise above it all and give it her all. The movie taught us to never give up and keep reaching. Thank you for sharing. When her mom shows up, 😭😭😭😭 Beautiful 🎥 . 💖💖💖
Even though there were some things in the movie that aren't correct, I still love this movie. I'm a figure skater too, so I know that movie dramatize the competitions a bit, but I still love it!
I wonder how many people got that scene towards the end where Gen and Tiffany(?) Hug and then stop and look at each other then continue. That was obviously a sly reference to the scene from 'Remember the Titans' where Hayden Panettiere Character Sheryl and Nicky are jumping up and down excitedly then turn towards each other as if to consider hugging each other but then turn away from each other and keep jumping up and down.
I absolutely love this movie. She's so graceful and I wish I could ice skate like that. The only thing that bothers me in the whole movie is how when she falls she just lays there. In actual ice skating, when you fall you get right back up. But other than that. I love it =)
I was obsessed with this movie when I was younger and I so badly wanted to ice skate.... I lied and told my friends I went to figure skating lessons 😂 Then when I got a little older, a town 5 minutes away got an ice rink and when I went skating I was terrified 😂😂
The girls at the end is my fav part ever hahahaha: (scream and hug)...... oh wait we barely know each other and we are not friends.... (screaming and hugging and fangirling together) is BETTER hahahahaha
2:28 I know I'm being that person but. Is it me or is that "perfect landing" underrotated? But for real, I absolutly love this movie. Sticks pretty true to figure skating, wonderful soundtrack, great cast, lovely message.
I'm not a figure skater, I'm a roller skater, but let me just say that it's just a movie. Whip It didn't get much right, but did I spend time hating on the movie and not enjoying it? No, I didn't. In fact, Whip It became one of my favorite movies once I sat down and watched it without pointing out everything wrong with it. I suggest you all do the same with Ice Princess, because in the end it's only a movie. And a great movie in my opinion.
This movie showed if you believe, the stars are the limit. The fact the older she gets the more beautiful she gets. God knows where her future lies ???
Yuri on Ice made me appreciate all the skating movies I watched when I was little. Seriously, a year ago I tried ice skating for the first time that I realized how hard it was to even just balance. Yikes. That looked painful when the she fell.
Ive been watching this movie a countless time when i was a kid. And surprisingly i never knew this actress was the one who played georgina sparks in gossip girl which is my fav tv show. Its weirdly funny. Lmao
just watched this beautiful film! i haven’t seen it for the longest time. i cried during this part lol my childhood came back for a moment. such an underrated film 🥺
