I wish they could release all of the movies played on USA Up All Night on Blu-ray with the segments put back in. USA Up All Night brings back so many great memories of my preteen years. Great review dude
I, too, am a little confused about the reverse cover, the original art would've been great. The movie is an odd gem, doesn't fit too well in the horror or family genre. Apstein seemed really uncomfortable about the pedophilia undertones of the film throughout the commentary but I never took much note of it. The surreal aspect made it seem like Gregory's character wouldn't even think about those things, he's almost too unusual to me. I love Clint, he always brings his best to every performance including this one. It's funny to think his father came on set when he did the ice cream cone heads scene to give him advice. Nice release especially with the Monstervision addition.
Hey I know what you mean piz when rated R films are geared towards kids. I remember when friends and I were able to rent Sho Kosugi movies back in the day of the 1980's. Definitely because Mr. Kosugi had his own kids in a lot of his movies. So even though the films were rated R, strangely enough they were kid friendly.
This film is hilarious 😂, Clint Howard best performance that I can think of. David Warner weird character with the no speaking wife of his who's not well. It needed blood and gore for it to be a classic. I haven't laughed as much in a Horror Comedy in a while since watching the Vagrant with the late Bill Paxton(which is a better film).
