Ice fishing during a wild twilight crappie bite in northern Michigan! My setup was shiners suspended half way down the water column under slip bobbers. Nonstop action for the first 2 hours of daylight!
I plan to go ice fishing this week. its been too warm to go the last few weeks and should have some safe ice. I plan on catching some bass, bluegill, and especially crappie through the ice. this will be my seconds time icefishing.
on April 10 2016 I caught a lot of crappies like over 10 crappies and a really giant 3 pounder bass!!!! That bass was the biggest fish I have ever caught in my LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not sure where you are fishing but where I'm from them are little crappie. We fish the lakes in NE Corner of Indiana an 13" + is the normal size for us an I've caught an seen 20"+ crappie. Still lots of fun & good eating.
+timwins31 I'm from Michigan and I was unaware of any size limit on the holes. there are guys up hear that cut huge rectangle holes to chuck spears at pike through.
+timwins31 yes its due to safety issues... sometimes lakes look like swiss cheese and there deadly for falling in the holes twisting ankles especially snowmobiles .... usually 12 inches is legal limit
Awesome video and great early morning action! Couple questions? How was your slip bobber setup done (weighted or none weighted bobber , size bobber, bobber stop or none)? Any tips for baits to use when not using slip bobbers i.e. tungsten micro jigs? I see your not using a flasher but just a portable depth finder. Any special setup for that in settings vs normal use? Thanks in advance !
Two small splits hot and a small Aberdeen hook baited with a perch minnow. Micro jigs work too. That is indeed an ice flasher I'm using in the video. It uses graph mode, or flasher mode. Lowrance X-67C
Really luved the video. But ur fish finder caught my eye. How'd u set it up. It looks like a fish finder ud use on a boat and that's what I'm looking into setting up.
Coming from OZ, ice fishing is totally alien to me. I've heard a few dudes get killed each year, same as the rock fishing in OZ, but must admit, our fish tend to be just that bit bigger
Pro tip lol. Buy some bait the night before. Grind it up and put it thru the holes you'll fish the next morning. Works damn well with bass and crawps. I'd catch a bunch of frogs and kill a few, chop them up and toss them off the dock the night before. Doesn't work so well for larger fish though. You're limit is gonna be like 2.5 lbs at very very most. But last time I did it, I caught 37 bass and perch in one sitting, in under 2 hrs. Large mouth, small, rock, big sun perch that somebody set loose in the lake. If chum works for sharks, why not fish?
I'm live I texas and we do a lot of night fishing. At A lot of the popular lakes people have green lights on their docks just for that reason. It's fun at night!!
Hi that looks fun to do .Unfortunatly here in Belgium this is not possible because of the milder climat but I sure would like it.What is a crappy?A little carp ? Very clear cam you're using. What kind is this?I would like to use this when I'm fishing as well.
