These Ice Hockey Players in the NHL playing through the pain are WARRIORS! I have never seen this type of bravery in any other sport in the world! These NHL players playing through the pain will shock you! The injuries and hits these NHL players suffer would be enough to end most athletes games!

Steve Yzerman, after winning the Stanley Cup the year they were talking about in the clip, needed knee realignment surgery and missed most of the next season. That is how much winning the Stanley Cup means to a lot of players. There is nothing they won't sacrifice to win it all. Like the saying goes, The Stanley Cup weighs 35 pounds...except when you're lifting it.

The thing about that last one, 2002 Steve Yzerman had re-aggavated a prior knee injury that year which forced him to miss 30 regular season games. Still wasn't 100% when the playoffs came so he was basically playing the entire playoffs with a bum right knee. Red Wings won the cup that year btw.

They only do it so as to try and convince the referee to card the opponent who fouled. The same way some hockey players flop to draw penalty calls. I know it happens way more often in soccer, but it’s the same idea. And the point is, both soccer and hockey players do it.
@gerble36
@gerble36 3 года назад
@@grantdowling8550 Yep. Both certainly do. But I have yet to see a hockey player roll around and be as overly dramatic as some of the soccer/football "injuries" I have seen. But then again, soccer/football have a lot more base to draw those kind of clips from being way more popular around the world as hockey, so it really is tough to say which sport has more per capita.
@grantdowling8550
@grantdowling8550 3 года назад
@@gerble36 I've seen plenty of Hockey players make meals of penalties that weren't even penalties. It happens. Not nearly as much as in soccer again, but it does happen. I think another important thing that gets overlooked is that in hockey, most of the action of the sport is when a player is trying to disposes the other using his stick when the puck is on another player's stick. The puck isn't actually on their person so clashes for possession that could result in illegal harm happen less often. In soccer, the ball is always on someone's feet, not on a stick a yard or two away from their body, so bodily contact happens a lot more often and fouls can be feigned a lot more often because of it.

The craziest thing about this video is its mostly showing veterans, but there's SO MANY instances of younger guys playing through these kinds of injuries too. Ivan Provorov is a d-man for the Philadelphia Flyers. Entered the league when he was 19 and is yet to miss a single game since the start of his career. In a 2018 playoff game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, he took an awful hit to the shoulder, but went back in and finished that game AND Game 6 when the Flyers lost. After they were out, the team revealed the injuries they were playing through...Provorov played most of Game 5 and ALL of Game 6 *with his shoulder separated from his collar bone.* When asked about it, he said the only way he wasn't going in to help the team was if his arm was hanging off and he couldn't use a stick. He was 22 years old at the time.

I played through my 20's, but into my 30's the injuries took their toll. The helmet saves lives, and a visor is a must. Some players play with a cage to try and avoid being hit in the face, but I found it difficult to look down with a cage or a bowl (I'm 6'4"), so went with a visor. I am missing two teeth due to that decision. I saw a guy get a skate across a cheek in the 1st period. Our physio was great with stitches, and she stitched him up, iced his face, and he was back on the ice in the 3rd, with a cage on. I saw a guy take a slapshot to the nuts, and carry on playing. In the locker room after the game, his cup was in about 5 pieces. I miss playing every single day.

Really hope you do a full video of Steve Yzerman he really was just not of this world...he was captain of the wings for 20+ years and the driving force behind the team's 90's success. (As well as a role model for so many of Michigans young fans) really a great person on and off the ice.

One thing I’ve learned from watching hockey is just how determined someone can be. Taking a puck to the face, spitting out your teeth and a mouthful of blood, then getting back on the line??? That’s amazing. Period.

Stevie Y played for almost a decade after he had all of the cartilage removed from his knee. They had to do realignment surgery toward the end of the decade and I don't think it was ever pain free. I think I am king of the world when I block a slapper from a 35 year old soon to be drunk defender. Steve Yzerman's pain tolerance was beyond recognition.

1:08 your right Adam, it’s impossible not to get hurt playing hockey. I played all my life. My childhood was marked by welts all over my legs from getting hit with pucks, a fractured leg, scars across my brow from hitting my head on the ice playing pond hockey, lol, and my worst injury came the first time I stood in front of the net in peewee (whatever it’s called now-U13 maybe) and my own D took a slap shot. And I was so scared I shut my eyes. And the puck hit me in the wrist just above the glove and broke it. That’s when I learned you don’t shut your eyes, lol. But as far as injuries go, I think it’s just a matter of relativity. Every player in the ice likely has some injury. It’s just, is it an injury that’s playable or not. Most are playable. But dude, this Yzerman clip didn’t even show the most gruesome thing that happened to him. He had fallen down right at time when a bullet pass was fired to him and the puck hit him in the face cutting him up for about a hundred stitches. His face today shows that scar all across his right cheek and up the side of his orbital. It was so nasty. There’ll not be another Yzerman. I’m old enough and close enough to Detroit to have seen him play. Fantastic. His name is pronounced EYE-zerman btw. Cheers.

Steve Yzerman was my favourite player while he was active. Easily one of the best to ever lace them up, and that's not just because of his skill. Once he retired my favourite moved to Jarome Iginla

The Toronto vs Carolina Game that the player is hurt. The goaltender in net is James Reimer And I KNOW this is an old video because I met James Reimer when he played for the ECHL team I follow. And now ironically James Reimer is the goaltender for Carolina Hurricanes 😂😂 I kept hearing R-er and Adam screaming in pain finally I checked out Jens95's video for myself and i heard loud and clear Reimer and YAS that was revolutionary.
