This worked for our Frigidaire ice maker. THANK YOU!!!!!!! Also appreciate that it took you ONE minute to tell us how to do it. Super cheers with my ice cold drink to you!!
Dude what the heck thank you so much! Mine has been saying ice full for a while now and we couldn’t get it going again, now it’s going! You’re awesome!!
The problem started when my power went out and it was plugged in . So come to discover that the program cycle was interrupted and got corrupted . the solution is to unplug it and push the gate gently all the way back to calibrate it , and turn it on , and off 2 times to reset the cycle to original .
@Elp Beauty Supply I did just that and it seems to be working. The ice full red led went out and the machine is operating but sure does take a while to make ice. Thanks for this solution and of course author of this video for the work around.
BY using this video, you'll be able to make 2 to 3 cycles before you have to repeat the 10 second reset. To me that is ok if you don't use alot of ice. But in my family it's not exceptable. So if your looking for a more PERMANENT fix, that won't use the ice sensors at all then...1. Remove the 6 screws holding the back of the case on and slide it down. 2. On the right side of the unit, you'll see 2 green switches. Above these switches you will see a RED and a Black wire going to the front of the machine. Back trace these to the GREEN switch harness which plugs into the upper right of the circuit board. 3. CUT both the RED and Black wires. (these actually go to the detector on the left front of the ICE SENSORS.) Cut approx 2 inches from where they plug into the board 4. Strip approx 1/4 inch from both wires and tie them together. 5.Cover with heat shrink or electrical tape. 6. Replace the back cover. 7. Enjoy all the ice you want without resetting all the time. This fix actually tricks the unit into thinking there's no ice in the bin. And allows you to change the size of the ice. No "ICE FULL" light on either. JUST REMEMBER THAT THE UNIT WILL CONTINUOUSLY MAKE ICE SO KEEP AN EYE ON IT, DUMP REGULARLY, AND SHUT OFF AT NIGHT....
@Robert Roan I found a slightly easier (temporary) fix... There is a small metal bar inside. It is not structural, it is a thermistor (thermometer). Hold that little metal piece between your fingers to warm it up for a few seconds and the TRAY FULL light will go out and will START WORKING AGAIN. Perhaps we can change the resistance value to make it less sensitive to cold.
I recovered an Igloo brand countertop ice maker from a rental property. It looked practically brand new so I was tickled to get it. When I filled it up and plugged it in I was immediately let down. Before I went to toss this thing I did a quick google search and landed on your video. Tried the trick and it worked! I am so grateful. Thank you so so much!
IT WORKS!!!! I have an RCA ice maker (similar to the one in the video) and I tried the tip he gave and it worked! I wish I had known about this before. This is my 2nd ice maker. The first one did the same thing. I thought I had tried everything - even fighting with the MFG to return it- which would have cost $65 just to ship it! I am definitely sharing this with my friends! Thank you!
Thank you so much! I bought an ice maker from a liquidation store for $50 and was bummed when the ice full error showed up! Your tip cleared the error and now it works perfectly!! Yay for ice lol

Omg thank you so much. I was so upset when my ice maker wasn't working when I woke up this morning. I have only had it about 6 months was a wedding gift. And I need ice. Your trick worked. Thank you
I have a question you're saying that when you hold the select button down that it does not fix the original problem it just gets the machine working again so it's like a soft reset (like on your phone sometimes). Here's my question the other day I had to clean my ice machine I forgot to put the basket in and it made ice and filled up the bin could it be like my washing machine because it has to weigh the ice to know if it's full and maybe it needs to be recalibrated? if so maybe there's a video or someone out there that knows how to recalibrate it mine is an RCA and I just had cleaned it out drained it and everything put it back together which I do once a week, (which I do once a week, or as needed). I'm going to watch a few more videos and then I'm going to try this because at least I'll have ice for tonight. I bought this this year so it's a shame that they don't last longer than this without having some kind of an issue. I'd really like to know what caused the problem in the first place. Update: last night I tried to fix and the red light did not come off right away after several cycles but red light came off but this morning the green lights were on but there was barely any ice so I started again and it's making ice I hope this has fixed it I did clean around where I thought the sensor was but the problem is I can barely see anything it looks more like a screw than a sensor. I will try vinegar later today.
No, it doesn't weigh the ice. The way it knows is via the two sensors, there's usually a black looking one and a clear looking one. I've heard they get dirty, but that hasn't solved the problem by cleaning them either. I've heard the leads on the back of the sensors rust, that proved to be unfounded. I've heard that you can bypass those sensors but haven't found a way to do that either--this is a short form of this video, there's a much longer one where I take the machine apart and attempt that, but nothing I did seemed to fool it. What I can tell you is this is a common problem that plagues all of these countertop ice makers; this video has over 100,000 views. Nobody has stepped forward with an actual solution.
Mine was doing the same thing. Cleaned the little sensors that tells when the basket is full because build up was blocking them and the light went off. Working just fine now.
Thank you for the tip, but it did not work for my Igloo. I tried to hold the button longer, but nothing happens. Tried the 10 second trick with the power button, with the 2 buttons together, but I get the same error - ice full, and there is nothing in the tray.
Thanks for the info. It restarted mine. I did some trouble shooting on the led ice sensor. Inside where the ice comes out you will see a black receiver which looks like a black bump on the left and a clear one on the right which is the infrared transmiter. The reson why the receiver on left is black is because the black will allow infrared to pass through but block room light. Here is one indication that the transmitter on right might be bad. mine looks a little tented as if the led got warm or burned inside. You cant always go by this. Here is what i did next. I turned on my cell phone as if to take a picture but i didnt. I just wanted to use my cell to look at that clear transmitter that is suppose to transmitte infared. Well when i did that i couldnt see that it was doing anything. Humans cant see infrared but cells phones can and it will have a purple glow if its working. I checked for voltage on the wires going to the led and there was 5 volts on the wires but the led wasnt working. That led wouldnt cost a 1$. I would have to figure out how to take the parts out from the top. But at least i know whats wrong. I did check the led on my new ice maker with my phone and it had a purple glow.
@@jaykay18 the left sensor is the receiver and the black and red wire goes to it. When it receives the glow it turns on shorting it self and thats ok. You can take the side off and try to short the black and red and see if that works. They go to the right side of the board also. One guy cut the wire and put a on off swirh and mounted it outside which made ut easier to work. I watched one youtube where a guy had ice full and checked the toggle switches and replaced one that was bad and everything worked fine. I didnt have bad switches but several did. I dont know how swithes says theres no ice unless the ice dumpper jams and the chip says hey we must be full...i dont know but it fixed theirs. I went though some videos and ill post sone good ones. I did notice that the guy that had ice full and had a bad switch that his ice full light was blinking. @@jaykay18 if you had a purple glow id try shorting the black and white wire with out cutting the. If that works here is the part number on ebay. After lots and lots of serching i gound the receiver. Ill keep looking for the transmitter which is what i need. 19$ to me is high but considering you are replacing the switches also and the ease of the assembly i think its a good buy. I just got my broken one out of the garrage this weekend after watching your video. Im on a learning curve right now. Look at this on eBay www.ebay.com/itm/383785953782 Look at this on eBay www.ebay.com/itm/Igloo-ICE105-102-105-103-117-Ice-Maker-Water-Sensor-Replacement-part-/382953334486?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292
@@jaykay18 i apologize for all my replys. Im just learning and trying to help not only you but myself. Now i see why i could never find these diodes. Even the transmitter led is listed as a water sensor which is on the same 3 wire bundle. But i can see the led on the right end and i know the led is on that 3 wire. Im going to go ahead and order this assembly. Hope this helps.
OH MY GOSH this WORKS !! Thank you SO MUCH SUCH an EASY FIX .. I LOVE my little Icemaker I was so BUMMED that it stopped working.. THANK you !! WOO HOOO !!! ~*~*~
It worked, thank you! I have an igloo and the sensor that shuts the ice down when it gets full went out. So the fact it will over fill is fine with me as long as it is making ice. Thanks again for making this video!
Just grabbed my Ambiano ice maker, threw it across the kitchen, slammed it into the floor a few times, went out to the garage to grab a hatchet and hacked it into 100 pieces, then decided to see if there was a fix and here it is. Oh well. I feel a lot better though. Just one of those days....
That's why I don't destroy stuff. Even if it's toast, there are still usable parts that can either be used to fix another unit, be "grafted into" another unit, or can be put to work in some other capacity in some other project that may or may not ever even happen.
Thanks so much!😁 That worked.... my igloo is running again. U think they'd put that on the Troubleshooting page in their instructions manual or like a Reset button or something! That expensive machine is such a life saver in this hot environment I live in.
No, it won't. There's something wrong with the machine. It'll happily keep making ice until the bucket overflows. Eventually, the "shovel" that comes around to dump the ice in the bucket won't be able to move, it will jam up and all of the lights will start flashing and the machine will turn off. Power cycling it will clear that condition and it will start making ice again (after, of course, you empty the bucket).
Failed or failing limit switch at the side of the machine which detects the position of the tray. Just remove the sides and replace the 75 cent switch. If you continue to run it with a flaky switch the motor might crack the cooling tray by over forcing it before backing off and giving out the error condition lights. Yeah, they needed to do better error codes and better manuals.
I removed the 2 sensors electrical taped them facing each other and that didn't work. I then held the reset button for 10,20and 30 sec9nds unfortunately that didn't do anything either. Whirlpool must have their own reset or bypass going on here.
On my old one it is the optical LED that has problems. If I use a TV remote and aim at the photo detector it makes ice. Sometimes the LED does work. The plus side, the photo detector does not appear to be all that picky about the LED.
If you're that interested, the full video is here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Nuw03X_004A.html Nope, no full fix that I discovered. I tried everything I could think of, and also had someone else look at it who got no further. Ultimately it ended up going back to the store where it was exchanged for another one, which has been working fine.
The factory says to unplug the unit. Plug it back in and hold down the select button for 10 seconds, release. Hold down the power button for 10 seconds, release. This has worked for both the ice full and no water error lights. I figure there is some state being kept by the microcontroller that keeps it from breaking itself and that becomes corrupt over time. Some controllers are 8 bit and so numbers can quickly become out of range for determining what they use to mean and cause faults. My money is on this scenario.
Thank you so much. I have Silomn manufactured Wizlisa. Got it on Amazon in April. Red light on. It was for my cottage where I have my wine fridge. Called customer service, good ole Dan was uncooperative. Emails videos back and forth. I was about to pitch it. Thanks to it works. I have it in my family room because I bought another one for the cottage. This was brilliant.
The infared led and receiver is what controlls that. To check and see if the infared led is on TURN ON YOUR CELL PHONES CAMERA and hold the camera in front of each LED AT THE TOP OF THE DEVIDER AND SEE IF YOU CAN SEE THAT THE LED IS ON USING THE SCREEN OF YOUR PHONE the camera will allow you to see the led if it is on if neither is on while it should be making ice then the emitter is bad. You can buy the infared LED for less than 3 bucks then put it in following how you took the old one. I f one is on and the line between them is not blocked then it is probably the receiver which is on the opposite side. But the receiver is pretty cheap as well. If neither is on then you can use a TV remote to check which is the receiver by pressing a button on the remote and pointing it at each LED looking to see if one causes the ice full light to blink on and off.
One is the emitter and the other is the receiver. Only the emitter will produce IR light that can be seen by a camera and converted to visible light that we can see, not both. The TV remote won't do anything, and will not cause the LED to blink as it is not directly coupled to the receiver, it is run through a microcontroller that turns that LED on and off. All of the rest of what you said is common knowledge and the very first thing to try, especially cleaning the emitter and receiver, before doing anything else. Obviously I had tried all of that already. This video is a short-form of a much longer video where I take the unit apart and check for voltage to the IR emitter, as well as continuity checks on both the emitter and receiver.
Ok, but it should be even a pump problem. Mine had the same problem and I discovered the pump that drains the water was gone, so it's like the machine didn't get any signal from the pump and thought "Ok, no working signal from the pump.... Maybe the ice container is full. I will turn on the red light for Ice Full".
There's no pump to drain the water, the water drains out by gravity through the plug in the bottom. The pump pumps water up from the reservoir into the bucket where the refrigerated prongs are.
I know this is an old video but have just come across it as my four yr old ocemachine doing same. Mine is a realise but totally worked for me. So glad I didn't just give up after deep clean and order another. Many tha nks🎉
It’s really work with my machine! My machine is a vivohome! I really appreciated this video it’s help for me! I’m over thinking my ice maker machine is broken and I need buy a new one but no I fixed thank to you
Wow, having trouble with my icemaker and this seem to have solved the problem just holding it down 10 seconds turn off the diode that is triggering the ice full and stopping production?
Mine is A silonn and it did nothing 😢 unfortunately. It hasn't worked ever since I got the blasted thing! I still haven't gotten 1 cub of ice from it! It came with no hand book/ instructions so I really don't know what to do!
Well it's not going to do anything by itself. I started by typing "silonn ice maker" into google, chose the very first item that came up for one on Amazon, and BAM, there was the manual. All the information in the world is at your fingertips, all you have to do is move them the right way on the keyboard. If, after following the instructions, which definitely DID come with it if it were brand new, it still doesn't work, there is obviously a problem with it. And in that case, you'd do exactly the same thing you would always do if you purchased something that didn't work. If recently purchased and under return policy, you'd take it back or send it back to where you got it. If out of the return policy, you'd contact the manufacturer. This isn't life's biggest mystery.
Anyone have any ideas why this happened. Worked fine Sunday. Didn’t work Monday and had this ice full error. Clearly it works (hold select 10 seconds) (Also no ice, clean sensors, clean system…. All looks and a ounds as if working properly still ) What is the error attempting to warn me of that I should be aware of?
It's a flaw with these machines. The ice full sensor thinks the bin is full and stops the machine from operating. Some people say clean the sensors. I've cleaned mine and the problem still occurs. Some say replace the sensors. That doesn't explain why they sometimes work and sometimes don't. These things are under $100, sometimes under even $50, so when they break, you just junk them and get another one. Cheap enough. $100 doesn't do much these days.
@@jaykay18 that’s our plan. We’ll get through New Years with your hack and either get a similar one, or upgrade to a large under the counter one It’s done me well for 5-7 years
I just bought an ikich from goodwill and this worked but I didn’t do it with the “ice full” light on but rather with the “L” light on and it worked perfectly.
Thank you so much for this. I don’t have the brand but just seeing you hold the select button in made me think to hold the ice button in on mine and it worked. If you have a Frigidaire EFIC235 and it says ice full, just hold the ice button in for 10 seconds to reset.
thanks that worked like a charm and everything is working again great job, watched other videos requiring you to take things apart and bypassing everything. yours is much easier thanks you so much
Hey have a new Avanti nugget ice maker and it doesnt have a select button. It is flashing "ice full" (nope) and also "add water" (nope) water is full. Can anyone help?
Just want to say Thanks , I found one at a garage sale and it looks new but miss the basket. I did the reset like you did and it started to work and the ice full light went off . So far all good . I looked at other on youtube and they said use a jumper wire for the sensor . I like yours Thanks
Mine will start up and the ice full light goes out and it will continue to make ice until it gets full and then the ice full light comes on like it should but once you dump the ice out it will not start up again unless you hold the select button down until it fills up with water and u can hear the compressor kick on let go of button and it works fine , I also found out I turned my powerful flash light on at the left sensor if you are facing the ice machine and that lets it start up again this is weird
This worked for me! Got mine making ice again. I then wiped the little sensors near the top of the ice tray and the ice full light went out. We have hard water and got a build up of a white film which blocked the sensors.
Thank you this worked I did the holding of the select button first, and then I kept reading and came upon your comment and cleaned my sensors because we have hard water too and my ice full light went off too.
@@susiedavis3208 This is the short-form of this video. I have a full teardown video of the machine which includes all of the steps but most people have the attention span of a goldfish these days. That's why RU-vid Shorts exists.
My ice full stays lit on my joy and lotus brand i keep turning it off then on it makes ice but after making ice the ice full light stays on but not making ice after awhile Im constantly turning it off then on and it will start making ice again
If the mechanism is stuck, likely there's something mechanically wrong and it would need to be disassembled. I was trying to fight this particular problem further in this video but ended up taking it back for a refund: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Nuw03X_004A.html
This was only a clip of the full disassembly of this entire unit, I am WELL AWARE those sensors are there. In diagnosing any problem, you ALWAYS try to quickest, fastest, cheapest, easiest solution first. If that fails, it's time to get the tools out.
🙏THANK YOU 🙏 Thank you so much!!! ☺️ Funny thing, on count 6 or 7 the “ice full” light turned off & my ice maker started working. 😮 But I continued to hold down the “Select” button for 10 full seconds, just as you instructed. Thanks again very much!😄
I was hoping this would work. It did not. So if that doesn't work, try taking a cloth and swipe your sensor. Mine went back to making ice. Hope it helps😁.
Omg it worked!!! I’ve had this issue for over a year and I usually unplug it for a while. That stopped working. This is a fast and easy fix. Thank You✨✨
Mine was doing the same thing. Cleaned the little sensors that tells when the basket is full because build up was blocking them and the light went off. Working just fine now.
Well ill be a monkeys uncle! I have an RCA, iv haf it about 4 years with no issues and today this light wouldnt go off. I was heart broken as i love my ice maker but this WORKED! honestly idc if it keeps making ice. I set alarms to remind me to empty it into the freezer anyways.
I actually have 2 machines, and I cannot live without them. So much easier, and so much faster than the old school method. Not to mention the cubes are smaller which makes for more surface area, and a colder drink faster. The problems, you have to take them as they come. I pick these up for about 89 dollars, and it's well worth it for that in my opinion.
Ok, I have the weirdest problem with my KitchenChef Professional which I just bought yesterday. After the first badge the ice bucket is full but the full ice light does not come up. I did the reset, still does not come up, but the L and S diodes for the ice cube sizes blink one after the other and I can’t change the setting now.
Typically, alternately flashing lights is some kind of error code. I would hope that by now, you've tried unplugging it and leaving it for a while, and plugging it back in. Sometimes a reboot is all it needs. If the problem persists, your machine is defective and should be exchanged.
It is around 84 to 93 degrees fahrenheit here in Germany for weeks now and our icemaker broke done today. My wife was like OMG ! Thank you so much for this video, it surely safed our lives or at least our drinks ;-)
I was able to fix/clear that code by cleaning those little eyeballs. Just wipe them off with a paper towel. Just offering another possible fix. That button trick is definitely good to know though
Do we know what the actual issue is that is causing the full light to come on? Maybe faulty sensor or something? I would like to fix mine once and for all. 😄
It's not worth fixing really. Yeah, I get it, $2 sensor can save the whole machine, but these machines can be had for 79 bucks now. I think I have 4 of them now, 1 in service full time, one on standby, one at the bar, and one as a spare. Since they forgot how to make refrigeration systems these days, the bigger problem is it losing refrigerant over time and never freezing. And that you're not going to fix.
My ice maker was doing that ice full thing it was drive by me nuts lol thank you for the tip it worked on my igloo I was so frustrated it took me thirty minutes of fighting with this thing before I decided to RU-vid it and yours was the first video that popped up so thank you for posting this lol you saved an ice makers life today lmqo
