I know I’m late to this but as long as you follow the rules of gun safety (and it appears you do) and make it clear that they are fun or useful as long as you respect their power, I think it’s completely fine to use guns.

Gun content is fine as long as you're SAFE! You did it right, having a hill to stop any projectiles, getting a professional in to shoot safely and no living thing down range. Keep it up!

Try testing strength differences between paper, cloth, and fiberglass ice composites. I would include carbon fiber and Kevlar but they are expensive.

I don’t mind gun related videos,others might not like it but I personally don’t mind. I think it’s just experimenting and creating cool and epic content for people to watch and try to create stuff.

My problem lies with people not guns. So my vote is FOR SCIENCE!!!

while we’re at composite materials, we could add another layer of a material with more tensile strength, for example kevlar or fibreglass. the kevlar would prevent the bullet from penetrating, while the pykrete would diffuse all the energy

What people don't seem to understand, these "scary looking guns" aren't as dangerous as they look, most of the ''scary" stuff is cosmetic. Does nothing to enhance the danger or power of the gun. So please, don't care about what people say, shoot guns, they're fun and cool and you can learn stuff from them

Responsible Gun Ownership is fine. But if you're going to be firing at anything in general, have it done against a large mound of dirt or anything that can catch stray bullets and not deflect them. Like what you did with the Ice Shield firing test.

Interesting would be layers of kevlar frozen into solid form, whether or not that might be a bullet proof solution.

keep the gun content. this country has a huge gun control and gun violence problem but you said it best. guns from an engineering and educational standpoint service us culturally in alot of cool ways. and i think there is something to be said for mass shooters making us too afraid to use them recreationally when its appropriate. mass shooters are very sick individuals who aim to instill fear. needlessly censoring ourselves because of them feels like they are winning. dont let em win. keep doin gun stuff.

I wonder if you could build a large dome from that stuff in one of the poles as a like research base, and that way you could get like a shield against the weather. like make the dome large enough with like robust central column and then have room for vehicles and the prefab labs. this really interests me

Should redo this with wood dust. Soak then compress it in a mold and allow to freeze in that compressed mold. You could also add fibers (glass, carbon) to mix for some added resistance.

For the record... If u mixed water with saw dust and casted the shield it would be nearly unbreakable and would increase its ability to stop bullets ... Would love to see another vid testing this concept

This is not normal ice but it is instead pykrete. Pykrete has a very low melting point compared to regular ice and can withstand shots from a gun. This was used in WWII Into building unsinkable ships

Personally i don’t mind the use of guns in RU-vid videos as long as you know how to fire it.

Maybe put a thin metal casing around it, then it could be bulletproof, and would minimize weight(maybe) and metal usage.
