I think considering it’s a dance and song that is ballet oriented, nothing beats the original and tradition of where it came from. I also think that with the right choreography it could make a great skating program. As a ballet and figure skating fan, both have their beauty and flaws.
Ice skating takes a lot less technique, grace, and musicality, once they’re used to the ice, they just have to learn the moves because the ice perpelles them around Ballet is fully the dancers technique, flexibilty, and strength in there own body
it takes a lot of technique grace and musicality in figure skating as well , you don't have to just " learn" the moves and that's it. And so what with te ice propelling a skater ? Why do you think that makes it any less difficult? The ice and the stage are two different spaces and they demand different techniques. And honestly I wouldn't try comparing ballet and figure skating because I do both and they are both incredibly amazing, difficult and gracious disciplines but one is a sport and one is a dance, they don't really have the same goals and contexts.
A lot less technique??? Figure skating is full of technique. Wrong edges can warrant deductions from the judges and wrong landing positions can mean points taken away from you. Figure skating if anything is a graceful artistic and technical sport. Ballet is more about telling stories and grace. That’s why ballet is on 2d stages. It’s like reading a book
Hannah N the ice doesn’t propel us around.we do that ourselves with lots of core muscle, all the ice does is give the ground less friction so that we are able to glide into the jumps
Try ice dancing...check out the compulsory dances, the timing, edge changes etc. Then try doing them while looking amazing. Then get back to us on "technique".
