Icebergs and Glaciers in the Northern Rainforest - Into Alaska - E.12
Join us for a continuation of our rainy family canoe trip as we continue our journey down Northwn BC’s Stikine River, crossing the remote wilderness border to head into Alaska. In this episode, we explore the stunning Great Glacier’s outwash lake by canoe, gliding around mesmerizing blue icebergs that have calved off the massive glacier, creating a picturesque scene against the dramatic backdrop of the glacier.
Despite the persistent rain and overcast weather, our adventure takes us to a remote, off-grid salmon processing facility where we attempt to obtain some salmon without success. However, our luck changes when we encounter people from the DFO (Department of Fisheries and Oceans) conducting a salmon survey, who generously share some Sockeye from their personal supply with us. Grateful for the gift, we continue our journey in search of the hot springs, encountering the beauty of the wilderness and the generosity of fellow travelers along the way.
