This game was my first ever introduction to the world of Forgotten Realms. There was something... magically darker about this world, compared to any fiction I've read before
@@Raptor3Falcon I mean, in terms of everything but story and characters, yes. IWD is a dungeon crawler while BG is an epic. Although I believe IWD's artwork and music are both far superior to BG.
@@Raptor3Falcon IWD didn't had any story to speak off, mate. No characters. It was great with visuals, vibe and combat, but it felt more like Diablo than a proper crpg ;)
I remember this when it first ever came out along with Diablo 2. I got Icewind Dale and was not disappointed a truly epic game the story not the best, but the music and atmosphere was intense, magical and warming.
One of tmy favorite , most powerfull, beautifull sounds i have ever heard in my life. Mmasterpiece that drift my mind away into the snowy shattered wasteland of icewind dale.

I remember buying Icewind... I was young and looking for a cool game. There it was, Icewind, hanging at the top. That shit was high. I bought it and wow what a game. It's a shame I lost the box and even the discs. I have no clue what happened.
Wow this is gorgeous... I havent played the game in so long, and didn't quite appreciate the music as much as I do now that I'm older... thanks for sharing.
Incredible soundtrack to this and the rest of the Bioware games in the Baldur's Gate series. In the time since they've been released, nothing even close has come out to rival these fantastic games.
This song just hits you with the feels, i mean when i close mine eyes i can imagin myself going from a cold and hard winterish enviroment to the warmth of the great tree this music lets you FEEL the transition.
It isn't like they're gone. You can still play them. And there are plenty of mods around to improved the gaming experience even more. There's also an official Enhanced Edition of Baldur's Gate coming up. The developers have mentioned that they may be interested in updating other Infinity Engine games as well if BGEE does well, so I'd recommend buying it. Mostly because it'll be awesome, but also for a chance at seeing an enhanced Icewind Dale as well. :D
Hell yeah, first played this game around '02. Ever since then as soon as the first snow starts to fly (I live in Minnesota), I think about making a run through this game.

@LazarusOwenhart Dude, the guy who made the music for this is working on the next Elder's Scroll. Just because every game that comes out doesn't top the game before it doesn't mean that the best has already been played.
@solemperor I ALWAYS waited before entering a house or leaving the area before the flute sound from 0.12- 1.10 was finish. I special love the 20 sec part from 0.39 to 0.59. I have 4 bought games of this game (and also fallout 2 XD) . Cant remember how many times I have finished it. Everytime I find it in the shop, i feel like i just must buy this, for saftey of course, even i have 3 unopened games home:P.
@darken27 if i remember rightly, Icewindale plays just like Baldurs Gate 1. If you install the Heart of Winter expansion, the graphics update to Baldurs Gate 2 quality, however, not all the updated features of BG2 like subclasses and new weapon proficiencies exist. It's a guddn. top music too.

@iphoria You don't get it - it's not the next game and its not about "topping". They don't make games in this way anymore. A typical modern game costs an ungodly ammount of money to make mainly because of visuals and thus video game makers' top priority is getting those money back and turning in a profit. Each next game aims to please a wider audience while BG and IWD were made for people who like THIS kind of games and we loved them!
