so were just pretending he can see into the future and planned ichigo's arrival up to the last second? it's just kubo retcon bullshit that he was ever a good guy I guess when he was about to kill rukia under aizen's orders he used his crystal ball to know byakuya would come out of nowhere
Jenartik Take into account that he was also plotting Aizen's murder since he was a little boy. Elaborate planning, cunning and being able to predict an enemies reactions are things that just come naturally to this fella.
Yeah, gin's plot is def a retcon. We can see that because is motivation for being a traitor comes from retconned lore: i.a.: aizen having his own failed hogyouku when he his reaction to obtaining urahara's at the end of the soul society arc is that of a person who had never seen it before: "something so small.. this powerful"
Alot of people debate whether or not Gin was good/bad. Gin was my favorite character throughout the entire series. This was because he was so incredibly hard to read. Unlike the majority of the other characters, you never really knew what was going through Gin's head, even after he left the S.S. I personally think Gin was neither good nor bad, I don't think he cared at all about the S.S. or Aizen. I think his only concern was Rangiku and revenge. His actions seem to prove this.
i think he did this on purpose, just to check on her, if she was determined to live. but yeah he's neither bad nor good, he's a free person. but in most of his conversations he destroys someone's trust or faith to get him hated by people in soul society. i think he just pictures himself badly to others to get aizen's trust.
Knowing the whole story, I would consider that Ichimaru serious intended to give Rukia some hope because he himself wanted to believe Ichigo would be strong enough to rescue her through that entire experiment. Later he genuinely showed his compassion towards Ichigo.
Gin was not lying to Rukia. If Kyoraku&Ukitake or Ichigo did not save her, Aizen and his company would have. Because one of the reasons Aizen killed central 46 was to learn how to extract hogyoku without killing Rukia. Seriously, people think Aizen is a villain but in SS arc Urahara was the true villain for forfeiting Rukia's life by placing it inside her. edit: Aizen talks a lot of sht and trolls a lot but in all of the arcs, he never killed anyone. Even when he told Ichimaru to kill her, he was egging Byakuya into saving her because Aizen knew Byakuya was there watching. He kept lying about how he f.d up hado 90, failed to cut Ichigo in half, killed Hinamori etc. but he never intended any of it to begin with. Even his solution to Yamamoto's zanpakto was designed harmless and he ended up saving all captains there. Of course most of these are product of Kubo loving Aizen too much. We know what he can do with true villain namely Yhwach.
@@teleman07Aizen was disappointed/surprised when Rukia didn't die from the extraction. He didn't care about her at all. Gin was literally just messing with her brain. He loved to do that to people.
@@theroadrunner6880 He most certainly knew she would not die from extraction, this is Aizen we are talking about. He just has his trademark diarrhoea mouth. He also was prepared for it, he knew Rukia was not going to be let executed. However, yeah. He did not care for it, you are right. We just do not know if he would pick a different path or just kill her if that was the case. For all we know, the reason extraction did not kill her was because Aizen did not want to kill her to begin with and modified the extraction but this can just be a speculation compared to above hard facts. One hard fact though is this: Aizen never shows compassion in speech despite what he performs: Hallibel, Momo and Grimmjow are hard proofs. He most definitely does not have an evil for the sake of being evil kind of heart. He saved Hallibel knowing she is the only one capable of leading left behind arrancars, trolled Momo to max to teach her and Toshiro life lessons without harming them and supported Grimmjow despite Tosen because he knew he was a great stepping stone for Ichigo. Oh, and let us not forget about Orihime: remember who kidnapped her? Yes. Starkk, the most relatable and kind espada. Imagine if he sent friggin Nnoitra or someone else...
I think gin was actually pissed she was giving up while others were risking their lives for her. That's why he did this imo. He knew she still had hope and forced her to see it.
@@GhostMan407 that's the truth tho? If he was caring he would have done something or at least supporting Soul Society in one way or another which he didn't. Gin is good character indeed but all his focus is on Rangiku and nothing else. He let Ichigo lives because he knows the secret behind Ichigo's birth and what makes him special as a way to get his revenge to Aizen. He does not care about anything else in SS.
I like to think he simply wanted to make sure Rukia realized she still wanted to live, because deep down he knew Ichigo would've saved her. Thing is, as mysterious as he was, this scene can be interpreted in many ways. Gin was a masterfully written character.
[A random connection I made:] I always thought Gin did a rather nice thing for Rukia. Hope is a powerful emotion, and a good one. By giving Rukia hope, and then taking it away, he showed to Rukia her true feelings behind the whole fake emotions people create to make their death appear less scary...... It's the same with real life- how no one wants to die, and yet we convince ourselves that death is a necessary and a slightly desirable thing. Working in a hospital will show you the pain of death in it's true form. It's not something to run away from, but to confront and destroy with all our research efforts.
I actually hated Gin at the beginning because I just saw him as evil with no intention, no purpose. I hated that we couldn't ever know what he was thinking and I hated his stupid face. Then for some reason (probably because of that same mystery) he became my favorite character. Even before I knew his true goal he just randomly became awesome in my head, loved his expression, loved his randomness, I knew that he had to have some other goal because there was nothing about him, no one talked about him. He went from my most hated character in Bleach to my favorite, best feat in anime IMO 10/10 character
Because of this scene, I started watching Bleach. That epic "mind pwnage". Rukia was preparing for her execution for around a month and Gin managed to ruin her efforts in two minutes....
Gin is such a mastermind, he did indeed had to make Rukia feel like she was helpless but in doing so he made sure to play his part in delaying the execution by stalling them, before he went towards Aizen.
Gin was a beast, always need people like him in animes. but as usual they always end up killing them off in some lame ass way, wish he wouldve had some more fights, wouldve liked to see what he could do when he got serious
i think gin is neutral, he does whatever he wants not caring about anyone else but rangiko. he isnt a good guy just because he had a common enemy with the soul society. gin wasnt planned bad, he just enjoys messing/teasing with people
Gin was NOT a good guy we just would like to wish he was. We also assume he was in love with her. The truth is he was a kid who cared deeply for Rangiku and would do anything to remove the one who hurt her which was Aizen. He did not care abt being a soul reaper, a captain, or others because they were just in the way. That being said he also tormented people around him. He is one of my fav characters but don't kid yourself he wasn't a good guy
This isn't mustache twirling. He has gone beyond that. This is mustache juggling. Seriously, when I first saw this scene, I thought Gin was trying to make a dastardly deal with Rukia, and she herself looks as if she thought that as well. Nope. The cruel thing he did was something neither Rukia nor the audience suspected, and it fit perfectly. He took advantage of the fact that she would be thinking that way so that she wouldn't see it coming and thus not able to offer any defense. The scene was just enhanced by the choice to hold the music till after Rukia screamed.
Gin was a true deceiver!! I didn’t like him at first because he reminded me of myself but now when I look back I admire and have the utmost respect for him.
His an anti-hero, he never wanted to harm soul society, he did want rangiku, fairs. But he had her either way. They've been in love since childhood, he just wanted Aizen dead but Gin being Gin knew how cunning and strong Aizen was so he acted like he was his friend for over 110 years, always contemplating to kill him. If he was bad like you say there wouldn't be an epic moment where *fade to black music plays* and he says he trusts Ichigo to win. If he was bad it would just be, fuck i died :(
Yes and it's really common in anime...but I read the manga which doesn't include the filler arcs(Bount ,zanpakuto and the weird civil war thing)...It's pretty awesome...the epicness died at the Fullbring arc but it was still pretty acceptable
He definitely looks like a troll, but given how this character ends I wonder if he had an ulterior motive. She does appear to be more motivated now and not wanting to accept her death like she had before. Perhaps she is teaching her not to give up. He does have to continue giving off this malevolent vibe though give his goals...
Gin gotta be one of my top favorite characters in Bleach, I really liked his whole dynamic and his planning throughout the whole series. He really is a complex character to read and honestly he didn't care about anything else except Rangiku and having his revenge for Aizen which didn't go so well.
I think that Gin Ichimaru just talks to Rukia for waiting Ichigo because Gin knows very well that Ichigo can help Rukia but he needs more times. In my opinion...
Possible Spoiler! Looking back I have to place Gin in the chaotic neutral alignment. He went outside the rules and boundaries of the Soul Society for his ambitions, and his allegiance was to his own goals, outside of the evil of Aizen or the good of the Soul Reapers. He is an anti-hero, one who does questionable things for a good cause. All in all his words and actions were simply to mask the truth behind his thoughts and goals. His unique character design remains a great positive about Bleach.
4:03 Gin's face looked like a cat face :3 I love Gin, he's my favourite character in the entire series, I don't care if he's good or bad, but if he was real, then we'd get along famously. I love mind games.
I mean, him not caring what happened to Rukia doesn't mean that he didn't plan on defeating Aizen. You can't play double agent with a person like Aizen, and not expect to do things on the edge.
Gin was way more sensitive than people give him credit for, but as mysterious as he was, this scene is open to interpretation. In my opinion, he wasn't being sadistic, he wanted Rukia to realize she still wanted to live because he knew Ichigo was going to rescue her.
Gin wasnt a hero, he would kill EVERYONE just to make Rangiku happy....it was all for Matsumoto nothing else(which kinda makes him a hero, but not really much). He is also some kind of a tricky and happy bastard...his past with Matsumoto already hinted his intention, there is no "pull out of the hat addition"
There is no they for one. There is only he, and he being tite kubo. Also, Kubo probably had an outline where Gin turned into a double agent anyway. So this entire story line was already planned out (or at least the major events). In any case, Gin is more of an anti-hero.
