I like the synergy of Chris yelling at me to not waste money on crowdfunding but also then yelling at me to get these games. As Thanos would say "Perfectly balanced"
20:36 Well, I can tell you right now - that I am more intrigued by Iliad than Ichor... I don't like overly tactical games (I discovered that when I found out that Five Tribes didn't work for me - when, after looking at a playthrough, it had looked good to me) - so I need some type of strategy to hook me in. (I am not into strategy-only games, either, though - btw. But I like games which have just enough strategy to guide me).
Ichor feels close to chess with abilities. I generally suck at these games. However, I can handle dynamic situations much better. So introducing a bit of randomness is what unshackles me
So I have to have some kind of reason (logically, within the game) for doing something. I am not like Jamey Stegmaier, who could end up making a move/doing something just because he wants to/feels like it does that play!
23:11 The fact that Iliad has no variable player powers vs. Ichor having them doesn't really make a difference to me. That is the type of thinker I am - just focusing on the puzzle - of can be the most boring looking puzzle ever - but from a numerical standpoint, it clicks with me - and allows me to play. For example - I enjoy sudokus - which just have numbers for me to stare at, but I can reason through them logically (again, like I said in one of my other comments, I need a reason to make a move - which is why quite a lot of games give me AP, which I suffer from). In fact, I would argue that the variable powers in Ichor - when adding them to the equation - add to likely AP for me, as I have to continue to go back to consider what those powers are in analyzing my options for my move.
20:59 But again, the tactical nature, in this case - forces you to place that specifically - which is a way to guide you - so that AP isn't as much of a problem... In fact, this is similar to a game which was just on crowdfunding - Rebirth - in which you are drawing a tile type and you HAVE to play that type. So I actually don't mind that. You still have the freedom to play them where you want to!
