Sooooo……. I thought I had a favorite person to follow on RU-vid for cake decorating. But I officially have a new favorite!!! You are exactly what I need, because I suffer with comprehension issues. Thank you for being you ❤
I jumped in comments to tell you that I appreciate you so much. I had issues with my printer not printing lol… I haven’t used it in months. This video completely answered why! Thank you … cheers to you ☕️☕️☕️♥️💋
You're amazing! I was having issues and thought to myself, "self you know Karolyn probably has a video for this issue" so I took my happy little self here to find a video..... followed your steps and taaaa daaaa problem solved :)
I’ve used Icing Images for a few years now. I also bought my printer through them and couldn’t be happier! They have the best customer service and are always willing to help if I’m having issues. I’m glad to see you use them as well and will buy through your link to help you out from here forward!
Thanks for your videos! I did not know what edible printer to get and I watched your video along with the information on icing images. I’m in Hbg, thanks neighbor 😊
I live in the Caribbean Islands where its tropical almost all year...I refrigerated my cakes..I usually set the refrigerator at the lowest setting...then I turn a fan on it to help the sweating process
Hi Karolyn. Thank you so much for sharing all your tips and advice on edible images. I have 2 questions. First, where do you find images to print, Especially for character cakes? Second, do you prefer Wafer paper or Icing sheets? Thank you in advace! I will def be using your affiliate link when ordering from Icing images!
Hi Rebecca! I prefer icing sheets over wafer paper. I have used wafer paper for things like butterflies though. There are a lot of sellers on Etsy who sell great images to use!
@@berthaversetto8654 to be honest, icing images has really great prices. Ever since Covid, the costs of everything has increased. So while they do coat slightly more now, it still is a really good deal. To start, you will need to make the investment in a brand new printer, edible icing sheets, edible ink cartridges, and I would recommend having ink refills and a cleaning kit on hand. Icing images has bundles where you can get all of this together at a better price instead of purchasing them separately. I purchased their basic bundle and it is great quality! You can try to purchase everything separately but I’m not sure that it will save you money. And you have to be careful that you don’t purchase low quality products because you could have issues with them. (Bad icing sheets could get sticky or melt and make a big mess.). That’s why I stick with Icing images, I’ve never had issues with their products. If you’re not ready to make the investment and / or you don’t print too often, you can find someone to print the images you need and get them shipped to you.
Hi Karolyn... I love your tutorial. I have a question?I have two printers Canon IX6820 and Epson ET 2800 the prints are gorgeous but last time I printed pizza wheel marks came in the prints. I tried to change the settings, speeds..... and clean . Nothing helped. Do you know how I solve it? Thank you
That usually happens when the print head needs cleaning. Sometimes the ink can also seep out from the cartridges and make a mess. Here's a video of me showing how to clean the print head!
Thanks for sharing your talents with all of us! I signed up for the birthday cake blueprint but it never came through. Any other way to get it? Thanks?
I have a laptop (MacBook) now and still use it on this. So you can do it on both. And, you can print on chocolate, check out Icing Images website for tutorials / info!
Hi Carolyn. Wondering your thoughts on a printer which has tanks for the color. I currently have the cannon with cartridges but wondering if tanks would work better?? I’ve seen no info on whether or not the food color is an option for tank printers - Any help appreciated.
Hey Donna! I'm not sure about those for edible printing. I've only used the cartridges so I can't really give advice on the tanks. I would message Icing Images to see!
Karolyn, You crack me up; you’re killing me. LOL Question concerning Icing Images printer set up. Do you set up you’re printer as Icing Images suggests? They mention setting paper abrasion. Thank you in advance for your time. You rock!
Hello luv thanks so much for all this information ❤️❤️❤️ when you put the image on fondant what do you use to get the image to stick to the fondant without coming off .
You’re absolutely right about the image is getting wrinkled and bubbly as you know from the message I sent you I experienced that. And you’re right putting fondant behind the image is best. You’re also right about the Icing Images I get my things the very next day as well because I’m in Florida and they’re located in Virginia. I wish I would’ve known that about commission when I ordered my printer the beginning of this year. And thank you for all your videos you are extremely helpful
Good morning do you use imprint ? I just got a new printer from icing image when I get off work they close 😢do you have a video that show me had to use it
Hello the cake not going to dry out when left in refrigerator for 2 day with frosting on it? I’m new at this have 5 order this weekend I wonder how was I wonder how I was going to get all that done before Saturday
I’ve just bought my printer but can’t really get into it(many people said it’s a game changer etc but with me it’s a bit of trouble) I can’t solve the problem with the paper filling up(sometimes it takes is from the bottom tray sometimes with the top one(how I might be sure which way it’s going to be!!???is there any tips I can set it up to take the paper only one way It a canon pixma TS 705 A
You have to set it to print from the rear tray through your printer settings on your computer. I don't remember exactly how to do it, but you can google it to find out!
I rarely adhere my images directly to my cakes. I like to put them on fondant first and then put them on the cake. This way, they are less likely to wrinkle or bleed.
Yes you definitely can! I haven't done that personally yet, but a little piping gel on the back will help it stick. Icing Images also has chocolate transfer sheets. Here's my link to their site: shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1817175&u=2948238&m=113258&urllink=&afftrack= Click Edible Paper, then Isomalt & Transfer Sheets
I am planning to buy an edible printer package from Icing Images next month and I have been watching videos trying to educate myself on edible printing ahead of time. Your videos are so clear and well done. Thank you for taking the time to make them. I read something the other day about jpeg and png images as well as pixels and how they affect the quality of edible images. The more I read the more confused I became. Could you tell me what to look for when googling for an image to print? Is there a way to know ahead of time if it will print clear and crisp without printing it ahead of time on regular paper? Thanks.
Larger images print better. In a Google search, you can click images - tools - size and click large. Those always print the best for me. However, I have printed smaller ones. If they don't look blurry on the screen, then generally they print clear as well!
Hi, what causes the image to cool on the cake then get runny and messy?? Can anyone help with this question??. Is there a specific temperature it should be kept at??
You could be having condensation issues. If you take the cake out of the fridge and put it in a warm room (without air conditioning), then condensation will form on the cake and the image will bleed. I always keep my house cold and I usually put my images on a piece of fondant so it protects the image from getting ruined.
I think you could! There are a bunch of sellers on sites like etsy. You can probably get between $12 - $20 per printed sheet. A box of 24 sheets is $30 plus shipping, so there can be a big profit margin to that.
I have the least expensive bundle and love it! I don't need the scanner function so I opted for the $299 option. If you would use the scanner, I'd go with the $399!
I got the same printer as yours except the a. The only difference is it doesn't have Bluetooth capabilities and it's so much cheaper. Who needs Bluetooth?! Lol. ... I got the Canon pixma ts702a for $80
Shouldn't there be a concern for copyright laws if you just go on the web for images? My experience at a commercial chain's bakery was using a contractual system with Decopac. We were forbidden to print or decorate anything brought in or requested by customers that is copyrighted and not in the Decopac catalog.
