I own & use my ICOM 271A only for 2 meter SSB.It says on the face that it is 144Mhz All Mode. That is a bit misleading since it is FM,USB,LSB,& CW only. There is no AM position on the rig which is a bit disappointing since several locals have old 2 meter AM rigs & we were considering starting a local rag chew on 2 meter AM which it appears I will not be joining into.Great rig.I have also in the past owned & used the ICOM 275H & I find the only advantage the newer version has is it looks nicer in my opinion. They made a 271H & a 275A & the H models have 100 watts of output which is nice but I have almost 200 watts with my Mirage 2 meter amplifier that I use with the 271A.I also have the optional builtin preamp installed & I have the uninstalled UT-15 for the rig which I have not taken the time too install due to not needing the rig for repeater usage or the decode since it comes with an encode board just no decode. It's still in the box with all paper work so it's for another day.I feel the 271 version works every bit as well as the newer 275 version but if you use a lot of memory channels the 275 version does allow more of those but I do not.I have worked from Northeast Florida to North Dakota,South Dakota, Michigan, Colorado,Puerto Rico,Cuba,& many more states with 100 watts & a single 15 element horizontal yagi at 61 ft.It is NOT common but very possible with much less than 1000 watts. Also Broadcasting is NOT permitted on Amateur Radio in the United States.Broadcasting is a One Way Communication.I have replaced the ICOM 271A with an ICOM 275A.Both are great transceivers & I think the 275A just looks better & has a few more features.I now own & use my ICOM 275A & it looks nicer to me but the 271A is still a great choice for a 2 meter base transceiver.
When I have a chance to come over again (soon maybe?) I'll have to bring my handheld over to show you. I can put some frequencies in that Baofeng of yours too so you can listen to hams when they come on the air.
If you had have looked under the inside of the panel that you popped off of the top of the radio you would have known the answer to your own question since the answers are printed right there for most people. That is most people who actually look at the cover which they just removed that is.
Actually, only about 200 hundred times actually, I reckon, actually, but a good video of the impressions of the radio. So all told, well done on him doing the video.
