I bought one a few years ago at a hamfest. I had done all of my shopping & I kept walking past the radio. I looked in my wallet & saw I only had $93 left. Vendors were packing up to leave & I asked the guy if he would take what I had left. It didn't fully work due to the volatile memory in it. And the VFO was loose. Other than that it was in great shape. I sent it out to repairman who is now retired. I got the memory upgrade & the VFO tightened for under $100. Works like a charm. Most recently I was able to get the internal power supply for it.
Those Icoms, yes, they have great receivers that’s for sure. I’ve still got my old IC-551D 6m radio that I used to set the ZL 6m to 19921 km SSB. Only issue I’ve had with it has been the optical rotary encoder for the VFO dial getting dirty and doing off things. I’ve spent plenty of time around DU too, and have family in DU5.
