Nothing like the older desktop radios today. The big tuning knobs are a joy to use and no annoying multiple button pushes or memory hunting to get to your functions. I have an FRG-7000 with narrow AM filter mod not as good as the IC R-70 but still a keeper.
Hi Kevin looking again at your review of the IC R70 on the rear panel next to the fuse is a memory switch marked 42 in the instruction manual. If this was in the up position your A/B VFO frequencies should be retained on front panel power off/ on
no explanation how the superb Passbandtuning works? It's not an _usual_ PBT aka frequency shift but it lowers the bandwidth and push the 9MHz IF Filter against the 455kHz IF Filter. Superb job is done if you modify the RX with an crystal filter at the 455kHz IF. Then it is a razorsharp PBT working in all modes 😎
Hi, I have one until 1986! It has several options: FM unit, FL44 filter, DC cord unit, and better wide 5khz filter. It is already as a new one, without any problem. I had in the past a yaesu FRG7700,a piece of junk I sold quickly. Although I have others receivers, FRG7, R820, JRC NRD525 , I keep my R70. I have also 3 Barlows Wadleys, 2 very goods, the third has probably alignment problem, but I cannot fix it totally. I like olds rigs, I have SP600 and BC342 . Olivier.
