Spent 2 Hours with OS X and Pro Tools, super GLICHY... I recommend staying away!! Run from the Pro X. Save Time and Money. Faderport 8 smokes it compatibility and response. I thought I was upgrading, all I did was loose time.
so I see your stereo master fader doesn't wor either.(like mine). Is this a bug? Or was I the one bugging? I sent it back.Waiting on another. Also, did you figure out the imap feature? I'm running studio one 3 pro on a mac and all I seen was for windows.imap doesn't load. thanks for your response and good video btw.
Hey! Nice video! Are you getting any clicking from it? When idle, with nothing playing, the faders are making "ticking" noises every so often. Hard to hear unless it's quiet and with no audio playback. It's the faders. They don't move but it's as though the motors are initialising or something. Have tried calibration which made it better but hasn't cured it.
For anyone planning to use this for Logic pro, don't bother. It's clichy and pain. Not to mention at the time of this post, they don't even have a firmware update for Mac. It looks nice and built well but a headache and buggy as crap. The way I understand, it works great in Cubase only. It even comes with a copy of Cubase Le available for download. But I wasn't about to switch DAW's just to make a controller work properly.
I got my unit 7/5/17 and first off its built very solid. I got this unit to control Logic X. I had to update the firmware on a pc since they haven't got the mac firmware available, which I found a real pain since I had to use a friend's laptop. The faders seem to be quirky at first until you start using them more but if you stop for little while they start to get quirky again until you start using them again. I don't like that and over time it may start to wear the motors out. The quirky feel of the faders is like you have to apply pressure slightly to make them move. This can't be good on the motors. The LED's are not accurate in Logic X and are very slow. They look great but are virtually unusable for monitoring levels and this is after the update. Sometimes the LED's get stuck and I have to power down and then back on to correct. The master LED's don't work but thats an issue the Mackie protocol. The automation is flawless and works perfectly. The transport functions good. The eq section isn't very detailed and I'm better off the mouse. Its setup for logic out the box but they have a Cubase overlay on the panel but it can be switch out with a special tool... what were they thinking? Also the faders only count up the 8 and no higher. So if you have channel 9 selected it will be labeled 1 on the icon, but it will control alll the channels of your session but im not sure if this an issue with the controller yet. Overall I will probably be sending it back. it's not worth the price tag at the moment. It should just work for the price. The LED'S not working properly is a deal breaker for me. But icon is on to something with this unit. If they work out the kinks this unit came be a real game changer. For now, I'll be better off purchasing the Console 1 channel strip by softube and the faderport by prosonus. This is just my experience with Logic but it may work perfect in Cubase.
Hey thanks for the unboxing video. Be great to hear your feedback on how you feel it performs. I have the previous generation the Qcon Pro. The meters on that are useless, they don't represent the track volume at all. So I might be tempted to switch it out of this one. Ps.... are you on Gearslutz? There is a big forum on there discussing the Qcon Pro X. Be good to see you there.
Mikegs3 Hey man. Actually I was checking that topic on Gearslutz daily..hahah I was really excited about it, and I finally got it. Only thing that really annoys me is the slow work of Icon. Everything is taking too much time. I hope we won't be waiting too long for the XS units. I've got an information that XS units will be available in May-June 2017.

sound4label Well everything works great so far. The buttons could be more responsive, but I'm pressing them with 2 fingers because they are not reacting with whole surface. Some of them need to be pressed in middle, some in left corner etc. But I've got used to it. And I think the reason why they chose the plastic buttons over the rubber is the durability. They don't feel as nice as the rubber ones and they are louder, but I rather chose durability.
Hi Mateo, many thanks for your useful feedback. I got the same situation with my unit, sometimes I need to press middle, or corner right, left, etc .. I will keep the unit because the Fader are very accurate, nice point. Only hope by the time the situation won't be worse with buttons functions.
How you getting on with this control surface. I've bought one a week ago for Logic Pro X. Encoders seem to only to go up in increments of 2 e.g. 2,4 6,8 etc. Not much good if your trying to assign inputs, sends, busses for 1, 3, 5, etc. It's the same when trying to control plug ins it jumps missing out soft controls. Faders aren't too accurate either even after calibrating I'm using V1.09 firmware. Well built piece of gear but I feel like i'm beta testing, I don't think it's ready for market yet You had any similar probs?
I used to used the DIgidesign C24 with Pro Tools and that was seamless, absolutely wonderful except that it only worked with Pro Tools. Since leaving Pro Tools as my main DAW, due to costs I haven't found another controller as good or as reliable. I may have to go down the Avid Artist route although I just don''t like the look of it. Any ideas yourself?
got mine 2 days ago. I have MCU pro + extenders + Mackie C4. I'M TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY by this unit. It works perfectly and is built well. Tech support actually picks up the phone when I called. They must have worked out the kinks because this is great
The King do you still like it? I heard the faders are glitchy and noisy? I've been wanting to get one of these for awhile and I'm close to the money. But again, I've heard some mixed reviews. Can you give an update on your experience with it? thx!
This became the centre of my studio. You can't compare Mackie MCU with Pro X. It is whole different world. It looks and feels like a real big format analog console. Meter bridge is must have for me. I can't wait for the XS units. It will look better than most of the desks like SSL Matrix, Yamaha DM2000...
Well i must thank you, after seeing your vid i ordered mine from zzsounds. They wont have one till dec 26th...by that time ill be able to buy an expander for it. I have mcu pro with c4....time to put it up on ebay!
I've used the MCU and now have the previous generation Qcon Pro. From a functionality and usability perspective, there isn't much difference to be honest. The new Pro X as SoundVision Studio says does have much better meters though, but I think other than that, you wouldn't notice much difference. The only other thing I found different and better was there a more spare programmable buttons, which I find very useful. Only reason I switched was because I sold the MCU when I was downsizing my studio and ended up missing the hands on control, and the QCon is about half the price.
Mikegs3 i know it uses mackie protocol. There prolly isnt any difference in funtionality, however cosmetically, it blows mcu out the water. For this reason i ordered it, at zzsounds its on back order so it wont ship till dec 24th :/ I will be listing my mcu pro and C4 COMMANDER on ebay to pay the difference. Thise meters were the deciding factor....eye candy bro!!!!
The King That is exactly what I'm saying. Meters were the deciding factor for me also. Another thing is that the pictures can't represent its actual size. It looks much bigger and as I mentioned it feels like a real console. I wouldn't be affraid to compare its controlling features even with A&H GSR24M, SSL Matrix 2, Tascam DM4800 as these mixers uses mackie control. When I put it together with 3 XS units it will even look better than all the mixers I mentioned. There is no such option for the price and MCU looks like a toy against it. The King, you'll be more than happy with your decision.

D&R Music Recordings yeah, I know now. I'm returning it to Guitar Center today or tomorrow. The LED's get stuck a lot not very accurate. No firmware update for Mac. Beautiful and well built but sucks for Logic.
D&R Music Recordings WOW!! Maybe it works great with Cubase, since thats the only Daw they demonstrated with. Plus it comes with a version of Cubase software. I hate that I cancelled order for the Console 1 by softube and opted for this.
