In this episode of HUNTR Podcast, we bring on Cody Idol, son of whitetail legend Dick Idol, to share his journey in the world of trophy whitetail deer. Dick Idol is known for collecting world class deer, such as the Hole in the Horn buck, including some of the most well known bucks in all of North America. In the 1980's, Dick co-founded North American Whitetail Magazine, becoming their most featured writer and publisher. After years of milestones and success, Dick found a new passion for creating art pieces in the outdoor space, displaying famous sculptures for Cabela's and Bass Pro Shop. Fast forward to today and Dick Idol has teamed up with the best wildlife artists, creating all kinds of paintings and sculptures to be displayed in the Dick Idol Gallery. We hope you guys enjoy this podcast as Cody shares so many amazing stories, and gives us a look behind the scenes of his life. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.

Another great episode! Nice to see a guy from Florida (Im a native). While we don't produce giants, we do have year around outdoorsman activities! Headed to my farm this weekend for opening bow.

The conversation about the hole in the horn buck and the subjectivity of B&C scoring is exactly why Buckmasters has the best scoring system. Using total gross inches and then separating deer by percentage of irregularity. Makes way more sense and is less subjective.

I’m 60, and from southwestern part of Ohio. I started bow hunting around 80. I remember when seeing a deer in my area was a big thing, much less killing one. I remember back in the day, when that came out in North American Whitetail Magazine. It has been my goal to get to that point for years, with my bow. I’ve got it, but they’re acting like it’s an easy task. If you’re taking 160’s and above on a regular basis, you’ve got a great area to hunt, or a lot of land to grow deer. In my 40+ years of bow hunting I’ve seen maybe 5 bucks that went over 170, and watched one in velvet once that went over 200” non/typical.

You'll should do more looking into rompala's buck and not mock him so much. Being you'll did have Cj on your podcast which could be all lies. There is plenty of good points on the real side of rompala's buck. Eberhart hasnt killed any really big deer since hes been on everyones youtube channels. I have heard quite a few rumors about him but no one is going around ruining his reputation. Social media has to much shaming and scores matter more than the things that truly matter in hunting.

@@patrickfarris8048 I live near Front Royal Va which you dont hear of world record potential deer from there but James Smith killed a 259 inch buck in 1992. @toddstewart9437
@toddstewart9437 9 дней назад
How ironic it will be if the charges do indeed get dropped. In my opinion, the charges would only be dropped because it turns out that evidence was collected improperly. The whole investigation started on a technicality, and so maybe a technicality is its undoing. That said, the evidence is overwhelming that CJs story is bogus. But, still, he put in the time to hunt Megatron on Megatron's turf. He just didn't have permission, which apparently no one had permission to hunt that land. So in a way, CJ had exclusive access to a monster, which, that privilege usually only comes when a hunter has mega$$$$. CJ is the Robin Hood of the current whitetail world.
