Hey to whomever is running this page and naming the videos, I think you're awesome, and ship nerds everywhere love this channel! I love you, happy holidays!!!
Never heard the double salute an welcome before. Usually just one time three long an two short.. I'm sure it's the great Paul the videographer. The filming is a beautiful sight to see. The cold water meeting the warmth of the bough is an amazing sight to see. My Dear Gramma would say no artist could paint that picture. Merry Christmas, Happy Days ahead we pray.
Thank you! Thank you! I absolutely love seeing all of the Great Lakes Ships coming and leaving the Harbor!! ❤❤ And wow!! 😍 The American Century is all lit up and decorated so beautifully!! I especially love seeing the crew preforming the deicing duties!! ❤❤❤ I really really love this channel!! Thank you Duluth Harbor Cam!!! Us Great Lakes Boat Nerds Absolutely Love This!!!! 😍🥰💙❤
Amazing. Like the ship's bridge dressed up with holiday lighting. Easy to take for granted these folks who brave the cold and elements to deliver shipments..hope they stay safe and sound in their travels.
I'm a Ship Nerd,,,,,and as I watch this from a warm bed with my cat, I can't believe there's people out there, in these ships,, IN THE ICE COLD WATER,,,,,YIKES..stay safe and warm..
First time seeing anything like this and i'm feeling blessed. Most folks have never seen anything like this. Hats off to the expert pilot of this city on the great lakes. ✌❤🙏 🇺🇸 Excellent tug job also.
Really cool video! At the beginning, when the American Century is approaching the harbor entrance with those clouds swirling about it, it looks like a ghost ship emerging from the fog.
I was born in Duluth, moved away when I was eight years old and never looked back.....untill recently. I have become somewhat obsessed with watching these videos. Thanks
Having been in the navy I’ve heard a few ship horns but I can tell that was the throatiest one. I would love to have that one mounted on my house and everytime these kids drove by with their bass thumping garbage rattling my windows give them a couple toots and see how they like it.
Gorgeous night shot!! Love this! Merry Christmas to you, the channel master and to all the hard working harbor guys & tug guys! To everyone, a blessed Christmas.
WOW it might have just been the camera angle, but, she looked like she was going to clip the edge of the pier at marker 9:04 to 9:08.. phew I was holding my teeth hard waiting for the crunch..
@@blackmoom I was referring to myself as a “Saltie” I only ever entered the lakes once during my 50 years at sea and was admiring the pilot and Master’s handling of such a long vessel. The Compliments of the Season to you and your’s Sir.
@@petercoull9082 The American Century is not a saltie, She is designed as such, and she has been working the upper Great Lakes all her life... They began changing the traditional Great Lakes Style to the Ocean type a number of years ago.. Have a safe and Merry Christmas there Peter...
@@CSTA2024 There is obviously a difficulty in our understanding of our common language here I guess your term “saltie” refers to ships only. My understanding as a native English speaker is it refers to ships AND men wherein I as a “saltie” was a seafarer on “ saltie” ships that occasionally visited the Great Lakes . Our occupations are inextricably linked in that we both work on large bodies of water and face similar dangers and pleasures, as in the loss of the Edmund Fitzgerald ( Lakes disaster ) and Derbyshire in a Typhoon in Pacific ……that’s all. I Hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year …and Keep on Trucking😁🎅🏻🎉🍾
We saw her come in on ships camera live. During more pleasant weather people who live in the Duluth area will stand along the sides of the ship channel to watch these huge ships come into the Duluth harbor. Often times the Ships Captain will give a salute with his ships horn. Merry Christmas everyone.
Literally a brillaint idea that the lights on the bridge ends project the ships path on the water. No guesswork on where the ship is pointed. First time I've seen that.
For a minute, I was like... "deiced" What's "deiced"? ....Oh. :D These ships are breathtaking. Ever since I spent a week on the St. Lawrence seaway 14 years ago, the breathtaking size of these large vessels has held a place in my conscious that makes me appreciate them in a way I never could if I hadn't seen them with my own eyes. I saw one or two 800 footers, so adding another 200' to the visual is hard to fathom!
I have an aunt and uncle that lived in Duluth for several years and would take us down almost every time we visited and it was so cool watching these ships come in and it's amazing how loud the horns are in person
Those cameras are on 24/7, send a ship. I've seen a Norwegian freighter built in 1949 and some from the Mediterranean countries but never yet a British. Perhaps they're more comfortable up in Canada
The Soo Locks close on the 15Th of January so that closes shipping on Lake Superior, The lower lakes which is Michigan, Huron and Erie have some shipping then the locks open again on 15th of March.
