This is a travel guide from around Idaho Falls, Idaho. Currently this area of Eastern Idaho in particular Idaho Falls is considered one of the best places to live in America in terms of quality of life and affordability. Downtown Idaho Falls is very historical and there is the Idaho Museum there. I really enjoy the river walk and the falls around the Idaho Falls city center.
Island Hopper TV takes you around the world to the premiere travel destinations. Our virtual travel guides from across America to Asia, Europe and Australia have assisted many world travelers in educating themselves on their next destination to travel or even vacation.

Even though I’ve lived in Colorado for 20+ years, I proud to say Idaho Falls is my hometown. This video passed by 3 different locations in downtown where I began to establish myself beyond high school.

Great video! For my money though I would like a place that is not modernized. I want that old style feel with the old style buildings turn of the century type buildings. That's what makes me love the old west as much as I do. I think when you start making everything all filled with technology and a million different upgrades it takes away from the character of certain places. That's just my opinion.

@itsnick37
@itsnick37 3 года назад
What part of Idaho? To big of a state all different areas north panhandle is very cold and has some bad winters but absolutely Heaven on earth CDA Spokane area.... Boise is the big city best liveable spot I assume pretty good weather with seasons not sure what Boise winter is like... rest I’m not sure looking up Pocatello and Idaho falls I think rest is mostly “big towns” or just really small towns scattered and farms but LOTS of nature in Idaho forest rivers waterfalls in north ton of lakes, hiking camping all good stuff. Cheaper then Arizona to Arizona is great if you don’t want snow perfect winters but summers can hit over 110.... Arizona is mostly Phoenix and Phoenix suburbs so it’s pretty crowded lot of cars now.... still lot of nice stuff there way more shops restaurants all that but traffic worse air quality more city feel everywhere idaho is very rural besides Boise... CDA is getting busy to. Arizona does have lakes and trip to San Diego is dueable but Idaho has amazing forest and lakes so many lakes and doesn’t get dried out feel but will get lot of snow....but the desert feel and night is unique to just depends what you like🤷🏻‍♂️ I feel like Arizona is better for college graduates but I also here Boise is great for prices there although has become a hotspot but more opportunity in Arizona then Idaho, Boise is great everywhere else in that state I think jobs are lower paying.... I saw lot of construction and manufacturing jobs but I ONLY looked in North Idaho for jobs so idk just depends on what work. I scouted out Arizona for months I really wasn’t impressed with jobs there Idaho is same way besides Boise. I hear full time jobs are more scarce there to but I think Arizona has similar work laws? Idk on that one. Hope I helped to some extent

I came from California looking to find a house that I could rent until I decide to move from the SF Bay Area. I bought a house there 2 years ago because the area is affordable and the quality of life is good. I am glad I did it when I did because I would not be able to afford the kind of house I have now. The housing market is going at a clip of 14 to 18% yearly. I am looking forward to moving there in the next few years when I retire.

For those familiar with both Twin Falls and Idaho Falls, which would you prefer to live in and why?
@jmelande4937
@jmelande4937 3 года назад
I currently live in California, but I'm from Idaho and have been to both cities many times and can speak to the +/- of both places. Twin Falls would be my preference. The weather is better (winter more mild, shorter) and the community is more beautiful IMO. Twin Falls is smaller and has most of the same services, but its downtown has a more quaint feel and is prettier. Both places are regional retail centers with the usual big box stores. Idaho Falls is within a reasonable drives of Yellowstone and the Tetons. But Twin Falls is also within similar range of the Sawtooth Mountains and Sun Valley, but also right adjacent to the city is the Snake River canyon, with several spectacular hikes, springs, and huge waterfalls. Neither city has a university. (I think Universities bring more variety and cultural options.) Idaho Falls has satellite campuses for Idaho's three bigger state universities which caters to non-traditional students. Twin Falls has a four year college. Idaho Falls has a surprisingly good Civic orchestra and choir. Twin Falls does not. Housing costs are comparable. Both cities have a large Mormon population, but they are less dominant in Twin Falls. Idaho Falls has a better airport. The nearest larger city to Idaho Falls is Salt Lake City. Twin Falls is about equidistant to Salt Lake, but is much closer to Boise. Hope that helps.
@davervatx8814
@davervatx8814 3 года назад
@@jmelande4937 Great info...one additional question - what are your thoughts on crime, gangs, drug activity, etc, for both cities? Is one city noticeably worse than the other?

@@jmelande4937 Hi John, Which city has the better hiking? I'm assuming twin falls housing is much cheaper than boise?
@jmelande4937
@jmelande4937 3 года назад
@@davervatx8814 neither city has a major problem with drugs and gangs, but Idaho is still in the USA and rural meth labs/abuse happen everywhere. The opioid epidemic has spared Idaho as compared to many other areas of the country. Crime rates can be compared online, but from what I know both Idaho Falls and Twin Falls have a low violent crime rate. According to USA Today Idaho is in the top ten for lowest violent crime overall and has the ninth lowest murder rate and the second lowest violent robbery rate (not including petty theft).
@jmelande4937
@jmelande4937 3 года назад
@@jeffyeah4256 as for hiking within city limits, Idaho Falls has the Snake River green belt for a walk in the park but Twin Falls has the stunning Snake River canyon. As for the Tetons vs. the Sawtooths, I’d pick the less crowded but equally stunning Sawtooths north of Twin Falls.

We’ll, I left Idaho Falls in 1980; went to Scottsdale, AZ., and spent four years there. Then in 1984 I moved to Pasadena, CA where I went to school (AADA). Although still in CA, I’ve never been able to embrace LA, and CA in its totality. I graduated in 1970 from Idaho Falls, high school: ( Go Tigers)!! I still miss IF, it’s people, the good friends I made, good restaurants; the Sandpiper, Ada’s Cafe…I hope they’re still in business. Great fishing, hunting, and camping. I’ve always felt IF people were hospitable and caring, and also friendly. Heavily populated by Mormons, but if you’re not one, they don’t bother you. I’d love to move back now that I’ve lived more than half of my life so far, but I just can’t do the looong cooold winters. My bones won’t take it…perhaps getting away from CA and spend summers in Idaho Falls and winters in Arizona. I still have friends in both states..who knows…I’m a Republican and living here in KommieCal is not fun at all anymore. Anyway, enjoyed your video very much; thank you and your service for our nation. Idaho has been, is, and always will be a hidden natural beautiful place to live!
