I taught criminal law to criminal justice students for forty years. Over the years I had more than a few that were criminal personalities who enrolled in order to learn how to “beat the system”. Most of them dropped out resenting the underlying moral disapproval of crime inherent in the subject as they were criminals themselves aggrieved by the world. Read Yochelson and Samenov “The Criminal Personality “. This offender, while more intelligent than most, and narcissistic enough to think he could commit the perfect murder, was just another criminal himself.

The problem I believe is that serial killers and mass murderers are being glorified. These people have some sizable amounts of followers and they just love the fame. Saw a true crime episode recently of two young brothers, who murdered almost their whole family, and were set killing more people, but were caught before they could carry out their plan. Police interviews show no remorse and court appearances show revelling in the attention. Their aim was to be the worst and most famous offenders. For them, that is the accomplishment. It’s years later and we are still talking about Ted Bundy. The Netflix series on Jeffrey Dahmer was one of the highest streamed of 2022. I don’t know what motivated Kohlenberger, he appears to be very stoic, but this is case is garnering worldwide coverage, and you just wonder is this what he wanted and sadly, who else is being influenced by this. He didn’t have to sell anything, he didn’t have to build up years of gaining followers, it’s instant fame/notoriety.

With people giving away their DNA the easier it is for the system to catch you. Right now its used on criminals but there's no telling who'll it'll be used against next. His attorney said earlier that Kohberger traveled to PA around Dec 17... I'd love to know whether that cross country trip was really pre planned a long time ago as his attorney stated. His attorney would have taken Bryan's father's word for that - there would be no reason for him to try to verify what his client told him, and it would actually be inappropriate to attempt to verify what Bryan's father told him to be true... The notice by police regarding wanting any information on a white Hyundai Elantra was put out on Dec 7. By Dec 17, Bryan was traveling across the country to PA. From my understanding he was going to return to WA for his studies. His apartment still had all his belongings so it doesn't appear he was going to move back to PA..?? Why would he drive across the country to see his family, when he would most certainly still need a car in WA? He would then have to drive it back across the country again, to WA, when he returned for school - likely by himself this time. Would have so much easier, and likely less expensive, to fly back to PA. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me, and makes it appear as if the father flew out to WA to help him drive back to PA - within days of the police posting their notice on the white Hyundai Elantra... Just seems a bit suspicious.... On an somewhat unrelated note, I also would wonder whether the two stops by the police in Indiana were random - hard to believe this wasn't related to LE tailing him on the trip back to PA...??

Wouldn't Kohberger have know that his DNA was easily traced using the genealogy DNA out there, and I'm assuming it was the mixed blood samples from the crime scene. So, was Kohberger injured by his struggle with Ethan ? Did he not know Ethan would be there ? Did LE find the knife with some of BK's blood on it ? If he WAS injured would he have needed stitches & a trip to ER ? So many questions

@nenamichelle Год назад
He obviously didn’t go to the ER. That would have been one of the first things LE would check. 🤦‍♀️ Wait until the PCA is released and then some of these things might be answered. In re: to the knife, they don’t need the knife to get his blood. If he cut himself that blood could have been mixed in with the victim’s. If that’s the case that’s extremely damning evidence and there’s almost no question as to his guilt. And sure, he may have known it could be traced but he may not have known a family member was in a database. It doesn’t have to be a close family member. He also seems like the type who’s really cocky. May not have known/understood that frenzied killing with that type of knife often results in cuts to the perpetrator. Again, we will know more when the PCA is released but that could be a long way down the road.

I also speculate that this was BK testing out killing. The vegan angle was definitely unexpected, but it also feels like he’s a vegan more out of OCD/orthorexia than out of empathy. I’ve known people with weird and controlling eating habits like that based around “clean” eating. Even when I was vegetarian, it was mostly for the environment. IMO.. If you are able to stab four people in cold blood, you probably do not have oodles of empathy for other peoples’ animals either.

Thankfully that drives them to stop the tragedy, vs ending up a criminal arsonist. But every now and then someone veers off. What disturbs me as much as the murders is the assumption of guilt rather than the assumption of innocence. That is truly horrifying. Maybe he did it, but thus far there has not been much evidence released. Also, that “evidence” has not been subjected to any scrutiny. Hate to point out the obvious, but from time to time, law enforcement make mistakes, just like anyone in any profession. Seems the only evidence the public needs to convict this kid is that people think he’s awkward and that he “acts smart.” If he were dumb and social, I guess, most people would support his right to be considered innocent until proven guilty.

@jqpublic1630
@jqpublic1630 Год назад
Maybe. First, the image you refer to was taken from an iPhone, through a window, and shows a blurry white car. (One has to ask why someone was taking a photo at that time of morning of a passing car, but whatever.) It does not show the suspect, but perhaps shows the make and model of the same car he has. (Some eighty of that make, model, and color are registered with the U of Idaho security alone). Second, that house was a revolving door of people, a fact well documented by multiple police visits in the months leading up to the murders. Was it hair? Was it blood? That makes a difference. You don’t know. Neither do I. That is the data. Perhaps there is more. Maybe that DNA was recovered from under the victims’ nails. Perhaps that photo was of his car. (Still doesn’t prove he was driving it, just that someone was driving his car at a time that corresponded with the presumed time of the murders. The “exact time of death” is not quite that exact.) As I said, I don’t know if he did it. This vigilantism is a bit much. The jury won’t just “cancel” him; they most likely will vote to have him executed, IF the State of Idaho proves the case. I just think maybe waiting a bit to see is a good idea. As I said also, “Not much evidence released.”

I hope to never experience the terror of these students or the pain and anger their families are experiencing. My heart breaks for them all. Having said that, this suspect deserves due process and the best evidence. Back in 2015, I was stalked to my back yard and stabbed. I lost so much blood that my heart stopped. Were it not for a paramedic that arrived just in time, I'd be dead. My attacker collected samples from many pools I dripped and for the next few months planted my blood samples at various of his other violent crimes scenes. I had many field interviews with law enforcement. They were not amused. They did good, solid investigative work though and the bad guys suffered. If Bryan is our guy or if he conspired with the actual stabber, lets be rid of him and his co-conspirator(s). If this isn't our guy, we really really need to know that, too.
