This is great. I have known Idea Planet for over 11 years. They. Are. Awesome. I love going to their office and seeing all of the kick ass stuff that they have made over the years.
Oh my god I'm so in love! Minus the horrible landing gear in the back (resulted in the switch to Bezo's Amazon), this thing is a beaut! Didn't even know these existed :)
Mine's on it's way, have a nice space set out along side my Beratnas Gas coloured Roci surrounded by; a Morrigan class, a Truman Class, a Scirocco class, a Donnager Class and my soon to be complete Protogen Amun Ra Class models.
Awesome model. The only thing I'm not too fond of is the landing gear. Here's Idea Planet's original render: i.imgur.com/d6YZzNV.png . I don't understand why they changed the design. On the actual model you can't retract the landing gear like that. I also would have loved to be able to detach the landing gear. In the beginning they said that the model would be very customizable.
Man, why did I only find out about this one today! Would've gone for it day one if I'd known about it at the time. Looking at getting the upcoming Hero Collector / Eaglemoss 'XL' one, but this one looks much nicer (and bigger)
I’m sure they’ll get another Kickstarter campaign going. But it will be a case of do you want the landing legs? Because we’ll need them to fully close up to the hull. It’s a minor “kibble “ but the model is as close to perfection
If you've got time and some crafting skill you could build you're own out of paper and card. www.papermodelers.com/forum/alternate-dimensions/40215-rocinante-released.html
Hero collector announced that they are going to produce licensed Expanse models. Include Roci, Donnager class battleship, and Amen-Ra class stealth cruiser
@@aidenchen1275 A bit late, I’ve already built the Truman class, Scirocco Class, Morrigan Class, Donnager Class and I am currently in the middle of building the Amun-Ra class and have just finished building the export model for that I'll use to build The Pella.
Hmm... I am kind of torn on it. On one hand, it is a really cool model of a really cool ship, and it has a lot of detail. At first glance it is a beautiful model. As I looked closer, however, certain parts look like plastic. I mean, I know it is plastic (or resin) but there are models out there that are made of resin and don't look like resin. Some of the parts just looked cheap or thin, flimsy, and poorly done? Some parts also don't look very clean, like they look like they could have stood to be sanded and worked on a bit more. Just my opinion based on your shots, so maybe it looks better in person. But honestly, overall, I really like it a lot.
my only complaint is that it looks a little bit too much like it's made of literal bricks. I know that's the actual texture of the hull, but it could have benefitted from a half millimeter less definition.
Hm, there seems to be some kind of general aversion against the build-like-an-office-building structure of expanse ships. I rather imagine expanse ships being build like rockets, not like air planes. In my mind, they are always oriented upwards, having their decks stretching horizontally. It usually gives me some kind of jolt seeing them oriented sideways like here, then having their decks stretching vertically. But I seem the only one feeling that way, I'll get over it.
Not a very well designed ship, in fact. But you need a brain, some knowledge, some experience in space combat to know this. Still, when you are drowning in an ocean of shit, even a plain old sandwich is like the best mean you ever had.
